Aaron, SOG recon teams in Vietnam didn't wear rank. The team leader was the one with the most experience. If an officer joined a team and he was green, he answered to his team leader even if the team leader was enlisted. The team leader was the One/Zero. The next in charge or assistant team leader was the One/One. 3d in charge was the One/Two. My guess is SOG knife company is paying tribute to the team leader with this offering
Spyderco is just better then everyone else by a HUGE margin... The Bodacious is an amazing knife and their K390 is incredible. I just hope they put the "button actuated" compression lock on everything
Cryo is most definitely not a marketing ploy. Now in production knives it's hard to say but cryo in custom heat treats allow us to do things that otherwise aren't possible. For example I just did a 3in edc fixed blade in magnacut and with cryo was able to get it up to a final hardness of 66.2 and it's absolutely beautiful and performance will knock your socks off, without cryo I would have been able to get it up to around 64.
G'day mate, I have a Zwilling chefs knife labelled "ice hardened" not sure if that represents similar, the same, or something completely different to cryo. I think cryo is done with gas and dry ice is a solid, yeah ? No idea the Rockwell, or even the steel for that matter, they keep the nitty gritty specs close to their chest ; ) but in any event, it certainly does make for a high performing robust blade, so much so, I've been tempted to take it out in the sticks just for the hell of it, kinda like a modern day Kephart or Nessmuk experiment ; ) Cheers Duke.
I see SOG has an automatic version coming soon. This knife is a bit pricey. I have a Protech Stryder pt+ in Magnacut for less money. I really love this knife. Kershaw is coming out with a Launch Iridium in Magnacut that looks good too.
I don't know Bro , I have my Seal XR from 2019 and it says CPM-S35VN right on the Blade , where did you buy the knife ? It might be a clone , you should try calling SOG or GSM .
G'day Aaron, I do like these designs, though, as a user rather than a collector, personally I dont see the value in any folder over say 220 AUD, (150-ish USD) ...... which is about what I paid for a Freak and a Recon 1 with shipping from memory, thats as far as I'm prepared to go for a pocket knife, and yes very happy I did ; ) @ 250 odd USD and up, for this kinda dough one could have a good fixie, or two. But hey, I still really enjoyed the vid mate, ....... just because you're on a diet ....... doesn't mean you cant look at the menu ; ) Cheers Duke.
Pocket knife prices have gone mad. I wonder how long before the whole pocket knife bubble will burst. I enjoyed the hobby of collecting and selling knives however I think it’s going bye-bye with the King crab legs lol… To answer GT’s question Because it cost too much money ! This is why nobody is talking about this knife
GT you’re the best however I do miss your vintage running through the forest intro. You were the first one that I gravitated to when I got into this hobby so thank you. Keep this content going.
Great Reviev Aaron , nice blade but definitely overpriced. I never was a Big Sog Fan but I jumped on that SOG SEAL XR in 2019 and about a month into it I was Loving their CPM-S35VN , Sog has the Best S35VN in my opinion by Far , it is Excellent. I had to back you up on that Aaron its the Truth its Awesome.... 👍🖖
The One Zero is automatically more preferable than an Iridium since it's made in Taiwan vs China. The Iridium is a great knife, but man I'd love to see Kershaw ditch the Chinese OEM that 90% of their knives are made with. Taiwan does it better. Just look at Spyderco's Taiwan made knives 🤷♂ Cool looking knife, though. I'm into the design. Bit pricey for being made overseas, though. Thanks for showing it off dude 😎🤘
By the way, great video. The idea that just because you like a knife, you’ve been paid by somebody is silly, especially if you’ve watched your channel for very long. I saw you praise the Spyderco Manix And criticize the native five. Same brand completely different reviews in terms of your overall thought. I know you review with independence and no brand favoritism
Dig the design, but not price. I'm not as fond of a coated blade, but this one looks fine. I'm hard pressed to believe all these knives from China will have consistent quality, or HRC. It's a 70-80 dollar knife to me. 😊
You can keep it. Ill never buy a sog. Glad they did s35vn at 60-62, but im not interested in sog, and i dont trust china to pull that range off consistently
All the shittyer companys that do knives way cheaper an like total shit are coming out of the wood work and doin the same stuff as everyone else now except one thing, they think they got gold bars and that they have something special or do it better then everyone else I guess because there all charging crazy ass prices that no one would pay for them when they can get something for same or lesser price from true companys that have always done it great from the start with great trusted heat treats, but love they went with the square button everyone doin cross bar licks all are doing circle buttons and there so much more harder to pull back on and don't buy hardly any of them any more
Whoever doesn't put enough pressure grinding a knife is a dummy.. ❤🎉😅whoever says sharpening is hard should go back to the ice age. i cut steel with my eyes, lmao
And sogs still using T6 on the pivot and that's just foolish. I like sog, I love my seal xr and seal pup xr and my pentagon xr are all incredible knives and at the prices I got them at from Midway they are steals but on knives like the terminus xr and slip joint, this knife and many others the T6 pivot is absolutely foolish.
Yeah NOPE...Hard pass. $200+ for "cryo" S35VN (an overhyped and truly sub-par steel plus "cryo" means nothing if it's like their truly awful "cryo d2" on the Flash AT I own) and a goofy "SOG looking" design made overseas... reminds me of Benchmade's garbage knives and laughable pricing. If you had to pick from the brands you mention go Kershaw but really Vosteed and Spyderco make the absolute best folding knives on the market hands down and I'll take Spyderco's S30V (a better steel for a pocket knife that actually gets used because of the added toughness) or 14C28N over anything SOG, Benchmade or Kershaw is putting out (i'm not paying a premium for "Magnacut" either)
@@gideonstactical well the knife is sharp clean lines and the handle looks kind of plasticky and the indentations on it are 'soft.' I also don't like the ridge on it or how it thins down from front to end. I think it'd look better if there was just no taper and maybe with different scales.
Does this knife actually need the aggressive amount of wrist action that you're giving it to open it? It would be nice to see a deployment or two in each of the deployment methods, without the overly exaggerated wrist action being used.
I agree. It's a little bit annoying to watch it as a viewer more then 2x times in a video. But, that's probably his style to open these types of knifes because he has so many of them and he doesn't care. Fast, faster. 😊
It's vastly too expensive... Absolutely too expensive... I mean come on you get get a cru Carta pm2 or manix 2 for less money and have vastly more performance.
Nice blade.....too expensive...and over priced for non USA made. I carry a crossbar lock from Utica...in 440c that has a flipper...and it won't "flick" open. You can find them around $40....and USA made.
At $200 best price with some options at more than $250 where is this knife made? Recently Kershaw and even more recently CRKT are making crossbar lock knives in the USA for less than this knife with superior blade steel. The Iridium (not made in the USA) costs about less than 1/3rd of this SOG. Did SOG pay you to make this video?
The thing that’s confusing to me is the website not mentioning where it’s made. Also at this price you can get any number of benchmades/spyderco/ or other USA made knives

The soon-to-be released Spyderco yojumbo with 15v is listed for about $250. For me that is no contest.
I am excited to see the new model!
Spyderco is just better then everyone else by a HUGE margin... The Bodacious is an amazing knife and their K390 is incredible. I just hope they put the "button actuated" compression lock on everything
_Agreed, I rather pay for the steel, and if Im really going to pay, it better have it all.. craftsmanship, quality materials, and killer aesthetic!_

Yeah I've been eye balling this one! I love my sog seal ti crazy light for how bulky it is!
Thank you buddy!
_A three-hundred-dollar SAWWWWG! gtfo.. 😂😂😂_
_(😅As I currently carry a 700 dollar CKF Barm from Alexey Konygin) I know what value is.. I swear I do!🤦_
Ya the price is crazy, but the knife is so good. $150 and it would be a contender.
A $700 CKF is a worse value than a $270 SOG. CKF is made in China for pennies on the dollar for “Custom Knife Factory)

Hey i have a Seal XR it says U.S made but mine has nothing says Magna cut on the blade like yours, What is with that, Maybe you can help. Thank you
Then you have the original one with s35vn 👍
I don't know Bro , I have my Seal XR from 2019 and it says CPM-S35VN right on the Blade , where did you buy the knife ? It might be a clone , you should try calling SOG or GSM .
The MagnaCut version is a new special run.
Wats the orange Paracorded knife in the leather sheath sittin on the table in this video thank you
I highly what it is in the video 👍 Sharpal sharpener
One zero goes back to the pecking order of MAC V SOG teams. And I'm still getting the Kershaw Iridium.
U need to review the Benchmade PSK best knife they have done in a while.
They need to really lower the price of it by almost half price or they won't sell to many of them

Yes, and I unpack that in the last part of the video.

Thanks, I agree the S35VN they use is amazing!
I like the design of the SOG XR. Is there something similar as a fixed blade version of it?
Not that I am aware of .
Yes. The SOG Seal FX is the exact fixed blade version of the SOG XR.
The One Zero is automatically more preferable than an Iridium since it's made in Taiwan vs China. The Iridium is a great knife, but man I'd love to see Kershaw ditch the Chinese OEM that 90% of their knives are made with. Taiwan does it better. Just look at Spyderco's Taiwan made knives 🤷♂

Taiwan makes killer knives!!❤ I love work tuff gear knives and they're made in Taiwan.
Just bought one like you have in the video for $180 on Amazon. Blade HQ wants $299. 🙄

270 for any sog just sounds stupid. Stupid is NOT a word i throw around
I want you to explain why SOG thinks a 10inch fixed blade in s35vn is worth over $400.
I saw some of the new stuff the pricing is crazy
I've given SOG many chances over the past few decades. I've been disappointed nearly every time, unfortunately.
The terminus is a good knife.
@jayr526 I've never handled one, but I've heard good things about that model.
For that price ima stick with my Spyderco PM2
Too much money for me as well as not being transparent where the knife is made.
Just don't care 4 a blacked out blade. Great job
China knife for US price. Should be under 100.00
Taiwan 🇹🇼 but I get it
Whatch ben peterson talkn about the owner of sog camilus etc he s a billionaire
You can keep it. Ill never buy a sog. Glad they did s35vn at 60-62, but im not interested in sog, and i dont trust china to pull that range off consistently
S35VN is crap, especially if SOG is doing it.

Benchmade is over rated and Kershaw’s assisted opening fail
Nahh that is one ugly handle Gideon. The blade looks nice, but that handle and that taper are.... 🤢
Really? Are you getting your hand and it’s very comfortable. I like the 3-D machining two to each their own though.
@@gideonstactical well the knife is sharp clean lines and the handle looks kind of plasticky and the indentations on it are 'soft.' I also don't like the ridge on it or how it thins down from front to end. I think it'd look better if there was just no taper and maybe with different scales.

Ya, watch the end of the video. I explain that is exactly why.
The higher the Rockwell the more brittle it is
The more rigid a steel get the higher the HRC but on a kind of this size it would matter.
@ like my mission knifes dive knife its super low HRC and its bullet proof

Thats stupid... kizer civivi blue ridge mt whatever joker real steal...
SOG sucks
SOG are almost always overpriced foreign made knives with uninspired designs. I'll stick to USA made ZT/ Kershaw tyvm.
Spyderco and Vosteed are better then both of those brands.
@DB.KOOPER Spyderco are good but boring imo. Vosteed are inferior Chinese knives.
SOG sucks at pocket clips
@@cb3099 this one is NOT awesome that is for sure!
no one is talking about it because it is ugly!
Hahah not the word I would use, but I think it as more to do with the price. Watch till the end.
