2:42 I remember *years* ago, commenting how cool this scene looked because I thought it was a slow-motion shot. When in actuality, it was the game lagging and struggling to keep up
Wow, this one was really fun to watch. The mechanics seemed repetitive at times, but that really only made it more relaxing. The music seemed to be in rhythm with the level, especially at the start, though that was probably just my mind making connections that aren't there, haha. Either way, very fun level to watch, and a very well-done TAS ^_^
I love these TAS things. Especially when it's levels that are specially made for TAS. At least when they stick to how a human would be able to play them in the sense that there's no exploits such as wall jump glitches and the likes.
Nice hard hack, nearly without glitches. So also a human being could be able to solve that level with savestates, slowdowns, rewinds and around 60 years of Mario practice...
rerecords are savestates. so every time i did something right, then put a savestate, then messed up and loaded the savestate it counts as one rerecord. so i loaded from different parts of the video a total of 3197 times.
I really admire people who can play Mario like this, even if it's a TAS. Like for the nintendo wii the New super mario bros. game has videos you get as you play, of some pro or computer playing mario like a god. It's fucking amazing. I was thinking that music is a bunch of things (notes, tempos, etc.) that you have to memorize and be on point to play right. Same thin in videogames. You memorize to play right. It's like a music piece for the eyes.
Tool-Assisted. Sometimes, it has Speed run at the end. Tool-Assisted videos use rerecords, save states, and/or the ability to slow down the game (ex. frame advance). I have seen many TAS videos, and some of them are likely difficult or impossible to perform for several reasons.
The level designer needs love too, making this level work would be damn near as hard as playing it. So many things that could go wrong if something was placed a square to the left or right.
I can just see him now, twitchy fingers, eyes that move like darts, Jesus Christ, I know I can go crazy on some levels to prefect the rythem, but this is just insane, and he did this 3198 times.
I always find the rerecord counts utterly fascinating! I believe I've seen a rerecord count over over 300,000 before... possibly on one of the Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask TAS's... By the way, was it you who made the TAS? If so, I am in awe at your knowledge on SMW. It's just the type of skill that make TASers so damn good; knowledge of the game makes the best videos.
It takes a great amount of time and know-how to do a TAS properly. In order to do a single wall jump properly you need to know the proper speed that mario is traveling and hit a single pixel. That takes a lot of time.
For those that do not know what TAS is or understand it fully. TAS: Tool assisted speedrun. In other words this is not an actual player but basically a program that has been programmed by an individual to do things that the average human is not capable of doing. bfy.tw/1QXz
+MrRawrlmao It IS an actual player, but they're playing it frame by frame and have the freedom to correct mistakes if need be to bring an end result of a flawless, perfectly executed run.
Mario: FINALLY! The boss done! Toad, is the princess here? Toad: Mario, this isn't even a castle... It's just the first level! Mario: Wha- WHAT!!?!? (head explodes)
Tool Assisted = Ability to slow the game down to any speed desired, and allows for save states. It's still ultimately done by a person, though greatly assisted.
You also need an incredible amount of knowledge of all the tricks available to you, and the ability to optimize from your considerable options. The purpose of a TAS isn't to beat a game, it's to beat it as fast as possible. That means a LOT of time working out which of your paths will work at all, and which is the fastest, even if it's just by a few 60ths of a second. I'd say the only thing you need is WORK, KNOWLEDGE, and SKILL to make a true tool assisted speedrun.
It is possible. All he does is a spinning jump. It makes you bounce over the thwomp omp. It's also possible in the original game, with no need of any tools.
fair amount of games is made just to be played as a TAS and thats either still fun or its just cool to watch after. If you have insane skillz you might even do that, while extremly unlikely.
Yes, TAS is less about skill but more about devotion to use such a huge amount of time just to create a video. But...Knowing what to do and how the glitches work is still important
3:58 I could do that!
Wow. You’re a pro.
Idk man, that seems a bit hard for me
2:42 I remember *years* ago, commenting how cool this scene looked because I thought it was a slow-motion shot. When in actuality, it was the game lagging and struggling to keep up
Imagine if Nintendo actually made a Mario stage like this.
***** could be an secret stage
Given the future release of Mario Maker, I can see MANY of these coming out in the future.
doomrider7 Except without invincibility hax
I’d be done like a pot roast
@@doomrider7 Mario maker is out.
i struggle to beat the normal levels
ikr 0.0
Its good the black plants aren't floating in mid air like most of these, I always wondered how they grew like that...
For those who wonder: music is called F-Zero - Big Blue.
+h2643 thanks. I've never come across F-Zero. This theme is fucking awesome.
+JRPiff212 yea

Mario's hitbox (area where his character interacts/collides with other objects) is smaller than the sprite itself.

This youtuber:TheFinalBoss726
Hmmmm thats sus
DEAR GOD. WHAT LEVEL OF BADASSNESS IS THIS MAGIC?
Tool assisted? It's a computer playing the level, it's going to be done flawlessly.
Somebody used F-Zero's music in Mario Synthesizer mode ;)
Even the level timer at the end says this was done by a bot! lol Great run, dude. :)
Prince Dragonix TAS!!!
I know it's a TAS. Calm your shit, dude. :P
Prince Dragonix k
I was making a joke at how the end time was "B07", which looks like the word "bot".
Prince Dragonix k
this is completely insane
O_o Holy crap dude you're way too good. My mouth was dropped the whole time...
I'm trying place my finger on where I've heard this song before. It sounds familiar, but I can't figure out where I've heard it.
*Big Blue from F-Zero
Darude - Sandstorm
BLK MTN i knew it
Super smash bros?
rerecords are savestates. so every time i did something right, then put a savestate, then messed up and loaded the savestate it counts as one rerecord. so i loaded from different parts of the video a total of 3197 times.
0_0 i cannot believe someone did this even if it was just a TAS great job!!!!!!!!
Oh.
Suddenly my admiration levels have plummeted into the ground.
Good stuff, great to watch and the level design is impressive too.
you can also tell is is tool assisted since it says it in the title :P
i just sat there drooling in amazement the whole time.
If this was unforgiveable, i don't even wanna know how ''excruciating'' is gonna be like.. 0.o
Awesome TAS, btw i luv the big blue theme =D
Already showin off at :04
Btw, what's the original song to this? O_O
F-zero, might be big blue?
Fire as fuck.
That Big Blue music from F-Zero, though

you are awesome i have never saw some1 playing like that in my whole life
respect:)
I'm talking about the music on the world map. It is, without a doubt, from Mother 3.
@guitar45rocks5 What the heck?
There was no Zelda music in this vid.
The track used here is from the racing game series F-Zero.XD
I love so much the Music
0:04 😐 o...k?
pressing back and forward at a speed impossible for humans.
Mario ain't got time to bleed.
Tool-Assisted. Sometimes, it has Speed run at the end. Tool-Assisted videos use rerecords, save states, and/or the ability to slow down the game (ex. frame advance). I have seen many TAS videos, and some of them are likely difficult or impossible to perform for several reasons.
This is the true definition of God mode
"Hello Mario. You don't know me, but I know you. I want to play a game."
The level designer needs love too, making this level work would be damn near as hard as playing it. So many things that could go wrong if something was placed a square to the left or right.
How does someone even remember how to do everything in every level??
even after seeing so many TAS vids, this is amazing in it's own right....
HOW IN THE HOLY BLUE FUCKING HELL DID SOMEONE PULL ALL OF THIS OFF?!
How were the baseballs not affecting you at the start?
Thats just insane xD Also i liked the music!
You mean stand on a solid object, because a lot of people enter pipes on keys, P-switches, AND springboards.
I AM FLAPPY BIRD !!!! AND I FIND THIS OFFENSIVE !!!! O_O
I've never been so tense in my whole life.
I can just see him now, twitchy fingers, eyes that move like darts, Jesus Christ, I know I can go crazy on some levels to prefect the rythem, but this is just insane, and he did this 3198 times.
this is harder than item abuse
I always find the rerecord counts utterly fascinating! I believe I've seen a rerecord count over over 300,000 before... possibly on one of the Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask TAS's...

The falling stones were like 4 freaking pixels away from him.
That means, NO DEATH.
This is litteraly insane... but glitch abuse is way harder
That is one of the craziest freaking things I have ever seen.
Are you some kind of magical platformer genie?
In America : You beat it! Congratulations!
In Asia : Well done. You have just passed the tutorial!
Holy Crap, You beat this level... Like A Boss
That's F-zero, Big Blue theme, as for which version.... that I do not know.
At all this isn't a speedrun. He did messed around so often here and lost some time with that. So I would call that a superrun.
+Rich3yy (〉'Richard'-) It was for timing.
Mario: FINALLY! The boss done! Toad, is the princess here?
Toad: Mario, this isn't even a castle... It's just the first level!
Mario: Wha- WHAT!!?!? (head explodes)
you have selected the WAY OF PAIN!!
That big blue in the beginning. ALL MY NOSTALGIA
Tool Assisted = Ability to slow the game down to any speed desired, and allows for save states. It's still ultimately done by a person, though greatly assisted.
I love the fzero big blue music in the background
From the racing game F-Zero, you might remember it from the SNES.
how'd you run up those munchers
Mother 3 world map music. Nice.
By the way, what's up with the flickering at the top of the video?
I'm amazed the extent the SMW engine can be pushed.
oh please i beat this level every time before i do anything. Its like OCD to me.
You also need an incredible amount of knowledge of all the tricks available to you, and the ability to optimize from your considerable options. The purpose of a TAS isn't to beat a game, it's to beat it as fast as possible. Security Koopa: Bowser, mario just got past your hardest castle.
*bowser shoots himself with a handgun*
what's the name of the castle music? ( if you answer Dardue Sandstorm I will report you, block you, and proceed to delete your comment.)
dardue sandsturm. nah srsly the music is from the fzero stage "big blue"
Dynamikel33t thank you
+Weegee Luigi How the fuck did you not know what the music was
pejnismiggle easy.
This is like Death Note.do u want to make this level?u can but it will cost half of ur lifespan
why are you stalking my old videos?
4:03 Why the black flickering bar?
he had to do that to avoid hitting the black spikes until the platform came back up
Now that the tutorial level is complete let's move on to the next one...
It is possible. All he does is a spinning jump. It makes you bounce over the thwomp omp. It's also possible in the original game, with no need of any tools.
FREAKIN AWSOME
The true question is..
Is possible complete one of this whithout TAS?
If I had a dollar for every shell jump in this video, I'd be Bill Gates.
Mario is a few pixels lower than the baseball. (Mario's hat isn't part of the hitbox)
nah, that was planned by the creator, panga.
Where do i Find the SMW Remix, of this song?
That's the Big Blue theme from F-Zero, just sounds different
You'd have to have the patience of a god, even with the tool assist, to complete this.
fair amount of games is made just to be played as a TAS and thats either still fun or its just cool to watch after.
If you have insane skillz you might even do that, while extremly unlikely.
why you need TAS fpr that easy level?
who is sarcastic?
nein das level ist echt leicht
+Terriermon1234 ja sicher
+Darkblitz Item Abuse 3
Darkblitz
People like to TAS easy levels
I knew it from SSBB, I don't have SSBM. But the track was in there
epicness..i would be freaking out so badly, if i had to do that level. unfortunately, i don't have a SNES emulator...yet. XD still: Nicely Done. :)
What is the song reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
F-Zero: Big Blue
I FINALLY FOUND IT
Yes, TAS is less about skill but more about devotion to use such a huge amount of time just to create a video.
But...Knowing what to do and how the glitches work is still important
At 0:32, couldn't you just hop on the springboard and enter the pipe like that?
imagine long you have to play to memorize the entire map....
one thing that must suck about making kazio levels is to have to play test your own levels
Mario: Princess ... now that I've finally saved you ... WHERE IS THE FRIGGIN' TOILET KEY ?!?!?!
Tool Assisted Speedrun. Meaning you use things like slowdown, save states, etc. to help you.
This music is fzero x game- big blue
*takes out phone*
*scrolls through contacts*
*calls BS*
People being clueless about TAS runs ASIDE *COUGH*SAMUEL ARIZA*COUGH*, what's the BGM? I'm assuming it's from Mega Man X2, but I'm not sure.
Does that mean ninjas were doing a TAS of real life?
