Stop buying the games. Go online and boycott. Give a list of reasons. Repost every now and then so people don’t forget what gamefreak screwed up. My list is taking away synchronizing natures. You have to wait a while and have the money to afford mints now. We never spend money on natures but now we have to. Messing up Greninja, when other Pokemon are more overpowered than it. Yet they still keep other Pokemon overpowered. What else can we add to the list?
They gave it all this favoritism for a while then just took it all away. Lol. They would NEVER straight up nerf Charizard or Pikachu like this.

Gamefreak threw a little hissy fit that Charizard wasn’t top dog anymore so they had to take care of Greninja
Plus, Charizard is fire and flying, and one rock type move is enough to decommission it

I just wish that the Battle Bond wasn’t Ash Greninja, but a coloration of your character. That’s how you know that that was just an anime exclusive thing. Plus they never got into Full detail as to why Battle Bond effects only Greninja.
In the anime it was shown there was a battle bond for also a pidgeot and another pokemon, but those were the only two other than greninja with a battle bond

and to those saying "don't care, protean was OP anyway," there is some middle ground that they could have gone to; now it is literally just a worse Terastal.
I'm fine with the changes with Protean. Battle Bond Greninja changes actually gives me hope that Battle Bond isn't going to be a Greninja exclusive ability anymore.

My theory on why Ash Greninja isn't in Scarlet and Violet is because that the form was exclusively to Ash, so if they made a form for the player, they would have to make millions of forms. Plus I think that when Ash released Greninja, it caused the form to disappear. So if they want to bring the form back, Ash needs to re-catch Greninja.
Then WHY DIDNT IT COME IN THE FLASHBACK
That makes no sense because while Ash did release Greninja, he technically never got rid of his Pokéball.
Plus, it doesn't explain why Journeys redrew a scene that featured Ash-Greninja.

@@sonicplays8740 Outside of the Megas (which aren't in these new games), Charizard is pretty bad competitively. It's low tier in both singles and doubles. OP isn't talking about favoritism. They're about how broken the abilities were.
I think I know why Greninja was nerfed hard. Maybe it could be due to the fact that some new Pokémon in Gen 9 also got the ability "Battle Bond", and having to make new forms for Pokémon with Battle Bond might be an ABSOLUTE PAIN to do.
Gamefreak didn't ruin your favorite Pokemon. Greninja was your favorite Pokemon because he was op.

The protean nerf was needed. It was overpowered and made the 2 starters that have it broken and always on high tier play. To be able to change your stab and type every turn is broken. The other starter don't have that ability and it overshadows them. With this change the ability is much more reasonable and balanced and can be distributed further in the future. I think the change was needed.
AshGreninja wasn't needed I think. The form was cool. I think they did it cause they don't have megas in SV.

They nerfed a broken ability to make it more balanced in competitive play and your Greninja doesn’t get its form change, which hasn’t existed since Mega Evolution did. Be lucky Battle Bond even does anything, likely wouldn’t be in the game at all if it weren’t for the overwhelming fanbase.

Ironic how not only in the anime did they edit out Greninja's form in the flashbacks in journeys but got rid of it in the games.
Protean was changed since sword and shield, you can get a free Scorbunny with this hidden ability by trading pokemons from poke home on switch to phone. In the start it changed the type every time the pokemon uses a move, but they later changed it to how it is now after many complaints in sword and shield competitive.
The reason there is no ash greninja is cause ash isn’t gonna be in the Paldea anime
I mean protean was a really hard punish ability cause you could always just change your type into something that resists the enemies moves over and over again
I'm not a competitive player, but here's what I understand about Greninja:
Ash-Greninja was a fast and strong threat, even its counters could not switch in without risking big damage. Because of its ridiculously high stats, it felt uncheckable.
As for protean (and libero), being able to change your type to the move chosen gave you an advantage over the enemy at any time. Combine that with base Greninja's special attack and speed, it was a powerful threat.
Players enjoyed using Greninja's protean and Battle Bond just as they feared going against it. So I can see why these nerfs are understandable. Was it too much? Yeah, just by a little bit. Had they kept both pre-nerf abilities, Greninja "might" have found a place in UUbers.
Again, I have no relevant competitive experience so I could be missing something.

I imagine the protean change is because of terastalization. The whole point of the gimmick is changing your type, so they don't want you doing that freely. I hope the bring it to normal in legends Z-A(if abilities even exist in that games).

They kinda had to nerf protean. It's basically better terastalization. The second they decided to make the gimmick about type change, the best type changing ability had to suffer for it. Here's to hoping that if the next generation doesn't have Tera, they can buff Protean back to its original badassery.

Tbh in pokemon xy near the end few episodes Alain have up his mega stone and key and said he was gonna try mega evolving without a stone like the way ash did so technically if the anime was gonna snap ash greninja then they should've taken away Alain's mega stone
It's not ruined. Being able to rotate your type between 4 types with no limitations is kinda busted and there's really no counterplay for it. Add on top a base speed of 122, making it the 14th fastest non-legendary Pokemon in the game, it's going to outspeed most Pokemon for guaranteed STAB every time. And unless all 4 moves share the same type weakness, most of the opponents' attacks are gonna be neutral or resisted. Literally the only way for Greninja to always have a weakness no matter what move is used is if it knew a Normal, Dark, Rock, and Ice move, and was against a fighting type.
Don't forget Ash-Greninja was Anime exclusive and its inclusion in Sun and Moon was only because of fanservice. Ash-Greninja was never supposed to be a thing in the games anyways.
I like Ash greninja's design but I wish they called it something like mega Greninja, especially since that would make more sense because well, that was the theme for that generation

Honestly, I always hated the type change ability of any Pokémon. Changing types after each move is so annoying to me. So I’m just happy with the Torrent ability. Though, I do wish we could have ash greninja back.

Ash greninja was technically a mega evolution so it was tossed away like the rest of the mega evolutions. Hopefully he should be back in pokemon Z with the rest of the mega evos.
