@@BadgerlandBirding I would love to see you guys again but I am guessing you won’t be there on the 13th. 😞 but I will definitely have to go to oak openings though 😆
Hi, I accept the challenge! Next saturday we will have our own BigDay-competition; 12 hour (6am-6pm) birding around our hometown Zwolle in the center of the Netherlands.
They have an awesome lake behind it, perfect for shore birds, saw some blue winged teal. Up high in the trees we saw black and white warblers, prothonotary warblers, redstart, and a very uncooperative uncommon Tennessee warbler. The Baltimore orioles are everywhere! There have been several rare bird reports over there. The mixed habitat is what makes in great for rare birds.
I have a lot of favorite birds, but one that I am really into at this time of year is the summer tanager. I started to like it when I was a kid because at first glance, I assumed the male was a cardinal based on the color, so I thought it was exciting to get a closer look at it and see that it was a different beautiful bird! It’s fairly common in my area in the spring and summer, but it’s not always easy to see since it stays up high in the trees a lot of the time and doesn’t typically visit bird feeders.
Favorite bird is a hard one! I’d probably say Western Tanager, Steller’s Jay, or really any kind of Owl. All of those are just such impressive birds and no matter how many you see, it’s always awesome to see more.
Current favorite is my latest yard bird/lifer, an unexpected Harris's Sparrow which showed up a couple days before your contest started unfortunately:) Keep up the great content and fun contests!
Completed a few of these already and just realised that even though I managed 49 species at a reserve, the grey partridge from the bus ride there puts it up to 50. Managed two lifers aswell.
Do you have to do these things during the month of May or from the release of this video? What my favorite bird is depends on when you ask me, but right now I would say the Spotted Sandpiper.
Just a couple of things. First off, the form says it's no longer accepting submissions. Secondly, is there a way to leave a review without a cell phone? I was going to leave a review on one of them a while back, but I only have access to Spotify and RUclips out of the platforms you use for your podcasts, and it seems like Spotify requires either a cell phone or a premium account. Oh, and lastly, though I'm not sure I can manage over 100 points because I'm outside of my natural "habitat" currently, my favorite bird is probably Anna's Hummingbird, but really whatever one I'm looking at. :D
@@BadgerlandBirding Okay, sounds good! I just checked again, and it definitely requires a smartphone to rate/review it. I only use Spotify on my laptop.
Wish I could of saw you. If you guys ever come back to ohio. I have a fantastic hotspot for you that's almost as good as magee marsh. Its called Englewood metro park. We went today and it was so worth it for the warblers
