Very inspiring interview,I'm an artist as well and Italy is a place where my dream to have house and art workshop can become reality ,not here in Sydney 😂 .
Italian relatives say one can not buy a property in Italy in cash is this true by your experience? If you bought the house through a bank loan what document was needed to show job security.
depend on the bank and on the work, typically the tax return of the last year, the bank statements and a couple of the last payslips, sometimes the employment contract. You can buy a house in cash, well not in cash (the maximum cash limit in Italy is 5k euros) but without passing through a bank. There are also ways to buy a house in installments without going through a bank thanks to the sale with reservation of real estate ownership. Anyway buying a house in cash is not a good financial idea and you need to pay attention to the anti-money laundering regulations which in Italy are particularly strict (probably unnecessarily strict: they serve to combat the mafia, but the mafia lauders its money in Canada, UK, Luxembourg, Netherlands without any problem)

Ti auguro di fare carriera in Germania, e fra 30 anni quando sarai in pensione tornerai in pianta stabile in Sicilia, e farai la vita da re! Very inspiring interview,I'm an artist as well and Italy is a place where my dream to have house and art workshop can become reality ,not here in Sydney 😂 .
I can see that you talk with your hands as a good Italian ! 🙂

Ahhhh I wondered how as a Canadian you were able to buy property in Italy as Canadians and Kiwis, we are unable to purchase property. My heart broke when I found that out
You can still buy in Italy but you need to be a resident. So first, you will need a Visa to move. Hopefully this restriction will end in 2027.
@@smartmoveitaly really?thats not what the Italian consulate in New Zealand said. They said because NZ and Italy do not have an agreement like other countries, kiwis cannot buy in Italy and Italians cannot buy in NZ. At least this news would give me some hope. Thanks so very much

A: "how do you ended up living in Italy?"
B:"I was in Italy for a short trip, I was there to study tuscan food history..."
A:"Ok, say no more."
Great story and insights. It is about much more than just living in Italy alone. It also tells a story of how living in the West for younger generations has become very difficult and nasty.
Very true.
Do you also provide a service for italians that want to sell their house?
Ciao! We offer services for buyers, rather than sellers. You can learn more here smartmoveitalyproperty.com/buy and email casa@smartmoveitaly.com if you'd like your property advertised in our free weekly property newsletter, Vendita
I just read yesterday that there is a massive tax cut (unprecedented) for the first 5 years of moving to Italy.
There are several tax benefits to new arrivals to Italy. Depending on your situation, it can be very good.

Is it possible for a Canadian to buy a place in Italy in 2024?
Yes
Not a second home unfortunately. Reciprocity was limited until 2027.
How are you able to work in Italy? What type of visa do you have to get?
This is what I've found
"To become a teacher in Italy as an American, you need to obtain a visa, hold a bachelor's degree (preferred), and have a recognized TEFL certification. You can find teaching jobs through language schools, public and private schools, and online job boards. Learning Italian is also helpful, but not a requirement"
Good question! Getting a traditional work visa can be challenging as it requires more work from the employer, but there are other options. We have a free visa guide here smartmoveitaly.com/visa22 ; note that the ERV doesn't allow the visa holder to work, and those with EU or Italian citizenship can move visa-free.

Except for food, I don't believe that life in Italy is cheap; the winning choice was to move to a small town.
It's all relative depending on where you're from. Parts of Canada, in this case, are extremely expensive to live. Much more than even cities in Italy.
@@smartmoveitaly I'm not sure. I lived in Venice and I assure you that it's expensive.

It has no relation, but it seems appropriate to add that's very nice to be able to listen your tale. You tell us about a world that appears magical to your eyes!
@@ClaudioCappelli-ip5ej Compare the cost of living to cities in Canada like Toronto or Montreal or Vancouver. It is less affordable in Canada overall.

this story makes Italy seem like an idyllic country, but on balance it is not, it is a wonderful country, full of culture, history and beauty but it has far too many problems
Too much burocracy & problems. Too complicated & too messed up! Its the worst in Europe i am told.
@@tizb5178 Certainly for Politicians, more paid and mediocre, but let's say that with "I was told" you can't move forward, it would certainly be better to live a few months in Italy and then judge and decide, always taking into account which Italian reality you choose to live in. start living, bureaucracy is damn harmful, NOT FOR EVERYONE.
@stevebardella_farm-nature7bis
I live here. Find it too complicated. The good thing is that outsiders are able to buy property cheaply in comparison to their countries.
It is obvious that if someone expatriates his life will change
Funny how she uses the word "artist" when we use "artisan" for the same concept...
The root of the word is the same, art is a job of making stuff. Artist is more for "ars gratia artis" arts, like fine arts; artisan is for art that you generally use.
Meanwhile every years tens of thousands of italians (youngs) leave the country.
They leave coz its not working for them. Italy like any other country can't be for everybody.
