- This movie is one of the saddest movies I have ever seen. I just had to make my own trailer for it.
Disclaimer: Not Mine - Just a fan video. The song is Garten Mother's Lullaby by Meryl Streep and the movie is Sophie's Choice. :) Enjoy.
I'd like to give a strong nod to Jennifer Lawn, the little girl who plays Sophie's daughter. She lived through that scene as if it were really happening. She made the "Choice" scene work, because her abject terror was written all over her face, and her gut-wrenching screaming........brings effortless tears, and rips my heart out.
Gosh...how haunting, beautiful and moving. I love the song; what a lovely voice and lilting, poignant melody.
This was beautiful. You really caught the essence of the story.
She probably made the right choice in that the boy was older and had more of a chance of surviving in the camp than the girl would. But I still would've had them take me instead of my kids. This is one of those movies that's brilliant but you never want to see more than once because it's horribly sad.
She had no choice but to give her kid away. They wouldnt of let her go to the chambers because she was fit enough to work so she was stuck between the choice of letting both her children die or just one. Its a really sad thing.
So, so many beautiful lives lost.
I think this is one of the nicest comments that I have every received. Thank you for taking the time to review the video. I really appreciate it. :)
I enjoyed making it. Sophie's Choice is the hardest movie of Meryl's for me to watch. It physically pains me to watch that kind of suffering and pain and Meryl literally spears your heart and rips it right out of your chest.
I am so glad you enjoyed this. By the way I love your icon. Julie, Meryl and Emma FTW
I still watch this video a lot
i cried when they took the girl :'(
Don't ever take this done. I play it every night before I go to bed. Its incredible. Thanks for making it
quite possible the finest acting performance to ever be put on screen. brilliant.
Thank you so much honey! And the song is Garten Mother's Lullaby - I think I bought it from itunes if I'm not mistaken. I could be wrong though. You can also get it on youtube.
I found myself watching this again and it still had the same effect on me: I got chills. This is just pure perfection.
It's a masterpiece, well done. This film breaks my heart over and over again every single time I've watched it. Combining that song with the terror of the choice had a very strong effect and you used the transitions really beautifully to go with the pace of the music. Simply beautiful.
I love your videos! this one is just as good! thanks, so lovely!! one of meryls best films...
Excellent editing, kitnkaboodle! This, as you've already indicated, is one of the saddest and most gut-wrenching movies I've ever seen, but is much more than that. It is a work of art, and a dramatization of a horror that will always be under-served, for it's scope of human suffering. Thank you for your most worthy efforts in capturing the soul and essence of a great movie..
what seven years later and I am still watching this video love it
Same here!!! I've tried to start the novel for Sophie's Choice for two years now but I can't get very far without my mind wandering.
aww this made me cry, its such a sad movie but your editing in this is fabulous xxxx
And you thought deciding what to eat for dinner was hard.
Zarah Geniva, brutal humor, against comfortable humanity...and deservedly so.
Pain shared, suffering, let us NEVER FORGET!
this is the saddest video i have ever seen. im crying now!!!! :( great job though. it was amazing.
I really love this.
And the video - "Miranda Priestley's quest for perfection" on your vimeo is amaaazing - very creative :D
I was reading about someone who actually had that happen to them with the Russian Soldiers (it wasn't a war) when it happened to her let alone WWII but I can't imagine no matter what the reason having to live through that. It seems the cruelest thing you can do.
wow this video is so lovely its my favourite
i wish i could make this beautiful video
That Was Amazing..I Have No Words. x
This is heart-shattering and pure perfection. Tears are heavily stained on my cheeks. That was unbelievably hard to watch -- the need for Sophie to choose one of her own children over the other along side that lullaby sung stunningly by Meryl, plunges straight at the heart. A haunting but highly memorable performance by the miraculous Meryl Streep to add to it...
Thank you so much for sharing it with us -- it's really, really beautiful! Well done -- a fantastic video! 5* :)
Oh God. That was just AMAZING. I'm speechless. Blown away to say the least lol. 5 stars and fave :) One of the best videos I've ever seen. Honestly.
Oh and where did you get the song? It's beautiful and I want it. Hehe.
I am a mother from a smart 1.5 year old girl. It broke my heart when she needed to choose between her kids. It made me cry. I could feel her pain to let go one of her kids. I couldnt do it. I would sarcifice myself to save my child even my husband if i had to. I am a home stayed mom i dont earn. But my husband does. So if there was a choice need to be made. I would give my life for these two to save them. He could raise her and take care of her.
im crying so hard right now. i could never. EVer choose.
The little boy would be under pressure to behave well considering his sister was sacrificed for him.
I’d like to know if this is based on a true story it’s so gut wrenching to watch 😭
When my darling - do we get more AmidTheFallingSnow Productions? I've been waiting RATHER patiently
The best video ever
Yes it did :( Very very sad.

La mejor película que vi en mi vida
She really did :)
En donde puedo encontar esta pelicula
this film is so moving and deep and when she has to make that choice it breaks your heart, i'd say this and her role as karen silkwood in "Silkwood",were her best roles.
This is amazing a really moving tribute! Where did you get the music and im guessing it is sung by Meryl Streep
This video is just fantastic but it makes me cry!
omg i need a tissue...
Meryl studied opera with Beverly Sills as coach.
Can anyone tell me the name of the actor that touches her face? I've looked everywhere I don't know his name! Someone help
Of course Meryl can sing. She studied opera with Beverly Sills as coach.
