Under Arteta this guy is going to be a monster LB
He’d easily become a top LB for Arsenal in a year or two. He’s much higher ceiling than Kiwior, Zinny and Tierney in that position. Timber and Tomi can focus on the right hand side of the defence and rotate with Ben White.
Yea,watching this video it seens he's a more athletic and better defensive version of zinchenko.
Higher ceiling than Jurien Timber 🤔 not too sure about that one, Timber has only been held back by injury but looking back 2 seasons ago he was the best RB/CB in the Dutch league and definitely in the top 5 in Europe for that particular season. When he's fully fit he is a great full back with good pace and mobility. Calafiori will be a great addition but will have to fight to make LB fully his because we have a lot of options currently.
Arteta desperately needs to rest saliba after overplaying last season, and allow for injuries (think 22/23) if we want to win cups as well, makes me think timber will be RB, and White competes more on RCB, so cali becomes LB. Hoping a replacement in squad numbers for Soares rather than replacing Kiwior.
He is the Lissandro Martinez Mikel never got, the left side will be solidified.

Buy him and use him as a 6, or a left back, he could be excellent in both positions judging from the stats and his ball progression ability.

I also used to think that fullbacks would convert well to 6s but it was not the case with Trent AA for England
@@hectormartinez1777Southgate used Trent poorly. Trent doesn't have the technical qualities or experience to resist the press. His first touch is questionable and he doesn't have the dribbling to bail him out of these situations. He isn't suited to being a 6 he's more of an attacking 8 if you were to play him in midfield

@@hectormartinez1777 I think Cala is more comfortable on the ball in those positions. Trent doesn't have any experience as a build up player he usually stays out of it at Liverpool. The lack of experience exposes his technical weaknesses even more. Trents attributes are suited for chance creation in the final third not building up in the first phase of play. Trent is at his best when he has space and time on the ball and you don't have that much space or time when you are pressed in the build up phase.
I have never seen Cala play for 90minutes and from what is in this video, I can understand why Arteta is keen on working with Cala. He looks like an excellent player with much physical strength, and makes me recall Sergio Ramos, because he has very commanding numbers, the ability to inspire teammates with his attitude & will to win.
I remember seeing a graphic that showed the left half space is where we concede the most chances. So it makes sense to get a better LB / LCB hybrid in here

Calafiori isn't a player to be used as a backup cuz he's one of the best players in Serie A rn and i don't even think he will accept being a backup since Arsenal's defenders are mostly always available and especially when a club like Juventus has him as a first choice signing

I have a strong feeling that Arteta is bringing him in to play CDM. He's a ball carrying player, who is good with interceptions, tackles, winning ground and aerial duels while being very good at playing progressive passes. Does that remind you of anyone?

Calafiori, Tomi, White, Saliba, Gabriel, all well above 6 foot. Plus Timber who is (ironically) built like a brick house. And positional flexibility between Tomi, White, Calafiori, and Timber gives us great CL rotation and injury coverage

Hope he will be the first Italian to have success in the PL (since Zola). There have been such "stat-breakers" before, but in comparison to Spanish, French and German players - Italians normally struggle to adapt. But this guy looks like he might be the one who can do it.

Can arteta ever sign maverick in the attacking third like musiala, eze or florian wirtz ? Why the strange obsession with signing defenders and goal keepers ? We are seriously light in mid field but no top mid fielder is signed, yet we are submitting bid for another defender. There is no replacement for saka, no replacement for odegaard, no reliable replacement for rice, yet these three players along with saliba, are our most important players. Take them out, we are very average team.

Exactly, I think arteta has technical issues that we some times not see, experimenting in crucial games like Aston Villa last season (no party and no Jo20) and he lcooks at what Mancity and other team is throwing, he needs to make right signing like Pepe did with Dorku and Guardian.
