Alabama CB Patrick Surtain II
Junior 6’2 202 lbs
Former NFL All Pro CB Patrick Surtain had an impressive 11-year career in the NFL, where he picked off 37 passes on his way to making multiple Pro Bowls. He was a true ball hawk. His son is following his footsteps while making a name for himself, as ironic as that sounds. He’s already bigger than his father, who was a pretty physical player himself.
Surtain II is a great overall corner who doesn’t get targeted much, which is exactly what you want from a corner. While he excels in coverage, he also handles his own stopping the run. He’s a solid tackler, who isn’t afraid of being physical.

love this guy. I play db myself and I love watching this guy and analyzing the great he does and implementing it into my own game
Having him and Diggs as CB1 and CB2 would be next level honestly. I've vouched for Pitts for Dallas, and I still think they should take him at 10, if available. If not, get Surtain. Dude is a beast.
Very happy with the Lion Backer Parsons...but Surtain II would've been a great compliment to Diggs style of play.
He’s who I’ve wanted the Eagles to draft all along. That they picked up a first rounder to move back and might still have a shot at him I think is ideal.

Nah, he's coming home to Miami, where his HOFer father played. I would love nothing more than to here "PICKED OF BY SURTAIN!!" once more in my life. Imagine him coming down here, with his father, one of the best CBs to play the game, coaching him in the off season. Dude has DROY written all over him

@@blasiankld8317 Straight line speed is different from pads on, in game speed. If you've ever strapped up before you'd know that. No speed isn't everything but Diggs tends to use his hands too much and get blown past and surtain is slower than diggs is. The safety position is too weak for it to work rn.

The Best Defensive Prospect in 2021 NFL Draft Class. Patrick Surtain II, son of Legendary Dolphins Cornerback Patrick Surtain, was a 3 year starter at Alabama. Surtain II is one of the most POLISHED Cornerback Prospects. Has played the position his entire life, and has mastered his technique along the way with guidance from his Pro Bowl Father. On film, you can see how smooth/fluid he is in coverage. Knows exactly when to turn his head and play the ball given every opportunity. Some stats in his college career: 4 interceptions, 31 Pass Deflections!, 4 Force Fumbles, only allowed 4 Touchdowns and 46.1% Completion Percentage. It is important to note that Surtain had the most defensive snaps (915) without committing a penalty. Playing at one of the Best Programs in College Football, gives you an added benefit due to having to guard Top Tier WR's (Jeudy, Ruggs, Smith, Waddle) every day at practice, high quality reps to perfect your craft. The game that I enjoyed studying the most was vs LSU 2019. Arguably the best college offense (Burrow, Clyde, Chase, Jefferson) in history, and throughout the whole game they avoided throwing towards Surtain's side. Kept testing Trevon Diggs which spoke volumes. Patrick Surtain in Zone Coverage, has the talent to LOCKDOWN one side of the field. Also, he is really good in press coverage, knows exactly how to jam receivers and when it's time to bail out. Only concern as a prospect, is his speed which you can see some plays given up due to this weakness. Don't get me wrong, he isn't "slow" (4.41 40-Yard Dash), but he does not have that Elite Speed/Explosive skill set you are looking for in a CB. Other than that, he's going to be a HELLUVA CB in the NFL due to his natural play ability at the position. Day 1 Starter and has a High Floor (Starting CB). Surtain will benefit tremendously on a Zone Heavy team, stick him to one side of the field and don't worry. Projection: Round 1, Top 10 Lock.
