    This to me proves that no matter how "divine" humans say something is, they will almost certainly always find the loopholes to justify their desires/actions anyways

    • @bozak2320
      @bozak2320 Год назад +28

      Not a loophole, you mean rebellion against Almighty God. Furthermore, all of those so-called Jewish Sabbath restrictions are man made, not scriptural. This is why it's imperative that one reads the Holy Bible, and becomes familiar with the Word of God that you're not deceived. For example..Jesus Christ on one account gives correction regarding the Sabbath:
      [Luke 14:1-6]
      "One Sabbath, when he went to dine at the house of a ruler of the Pharisees, they were watching him carefully. And behold, there was a man before him who had dropsy. And Jesus responded to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?” But they remained silent. Then he took him and healed him and sent him away. And he said to them, “Which of you, having a son or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?"

      Did you know of the Shabbat elevator? People can't press buttons on a Shabbat, because using electricity counts as "making a fire" which is forbidden. Still, some people need the elevator because of mobility issues. So what they do is, they program an elevator to automatically go up and down all day, and stop at every floor. Needless to say, it is a slow process, but if you are a believer in a wheelchair, I'm sure you'd appreciate that invention. 🙂

    I knew about a lot of the rules regarding the Sabbath but I didn’t know about this one. I guess you have to adjust things to make sense for the time and conditions you’re living in. For instance, a lot of buildings in New York, including hospitals on Long Island, have Sabbath elevators. I was in one of the hospitals recently and asked a worker if it stops on every floor on the Sabbath so they don’t have to push the buttons. I got a huge smile and he said “yes, that’s exactly right”.

      Thats the nature of religion. If you think that everything stated in religion is to be taken exactly as said then you will find that its impossible to abide by all the rules. This is why religious people are the biggest hypocrites. They constantly bend the rules and play semantics to make these laws fit into their life instead of understanding what these laws where really pointing to. Words are sloppy and can never hold True but are just pointers to help lead to Truth which can only be experienced not spoken.

What my theory is, that gym friend of yours is conscious of someone from the community seeing him press the button so outside he tries to come across as If he keeps the Shabbat, but once in the gym, then his rabbi or other Jews will be less likely to see him do whatever...

    When my husband was a kid, his Jewish neighbor would come over and ask either him or his brother to go over to his house and turn on the radio for him so he could listen to his sports games. He figured as long as he didn't touch the radio, he couldn't be faulted for listening since it was on anyway. This is in a town in New Jersey that now has a very high concentration of othodox jews, there might be a wire there, too.
    LMAO - I just looked it up. There is. It doesn't extend to the road my husband lived on but comes close and seems to cover a good portion of the town. Now I have to go see if there's any near me because apparently, there's a site for that.

    • @michaellash4050

      You sound bitter, though you do rightly call them hypocrites. But to lump all religions and believers together because some Jewish people act this way isn’t fair or right.
      You might read Matthew 23 wherein Jesus had the harshest words for the religious, and also called them hypocrites. But is Jesus Christ or a true Christian a hypocrite because some Jews are? That’s silly.
      That’s like if I found a dumb atheist and used him to make the point that all atheists are dumb. Or if I found a drug addicted atheist and said, “welp, this is where atheism leads”.

    There are all kinds of stories about how some people call a family member before the Sabbath and then leave the line open through the Sabbath so they can talk to each other over the phone during the sabbath, but then without a speaker phone, they needed someone to be nearby to hear the person on the other end. Or they would set the oven on, and leave it on all sabbath. Or buildings in Manhattan that only hired an elevator operator during the Sabbath to push the buttons.

      The thing is, thousands of years ago when the laws were wrote, life was much simpler, and the religeos laws now don't fit in with modern society. People didn't have electricity or public transport, or telephones etc.. they probably didn't even have a key on their front door in them times. On the sabat, which is the day of rest, they wouldn't have had the need to go out and do things anyway, and would probably just stay at home and rest. On a normal day, they would only go out to work, buy food and necessities then go home anyway, it's not like they would go and have a game of golf on their day off. The times were obviously much more simple, and the Rabi's didn't realise how much society would change over the next millenia.
