  • The Ore Mountains have long been a significant area for the extraction of non-ferrous metals. In 1940, in response to the needs of the Nazi war economy, a deep mine for tin ore and a camp for French and later primarily Soviet prisoners of war began to be established near the village of Rolava (Sauersack). After the war, the mine was taken over by Rudné doly Příbram; however, due to the unprofitability of mining, it was not resumed. In 1947, the equipment, including the entire headframe, was dismantled. The nearby village of Rolava also ceased to exist after the evacuation of the German population.
The site of the defunct mining plant and prisoner of war camp serves as a model example of the formation of an archaeological site and the diverse decay of various types of structures, which can still be precisely interpreted thanks to construction documentation. The memorial also stands as a poignant monument to the forced labor of war prisoners.
music: Kaleo - I Can't Go On Without You, instrumental Cover by Karol Bagnowski and Jakub Żukowski
