Dr. Morgontaler is right on from what I can see from trial on my own body. I was 315lbs, I did have Gastric Sleeve Surgery 7 years ago, I have maintained a weight of 170lbs to 180lbs for the last 6 years. My protocol weight training, crossfit, 5k's as well as taking Testosterone, HCG and Anostrozole.
He says from 27:25 onwards that the young guys have peak morning testosterone at about 500, and the mid-aged guys around 400 - 450. This is VERY different from the narrative pushed by social media and TRT clinics, according to which you are dead meat if you are under 800. His statement should have huge consequences for millions of men. I already feel much better. :)
I was always in the high 700s in my thirties and depends on how the person feels in the 500s if you feel fine and happy with that's great, it wasn't until my late 40s my testosterone dropped and started TRT at age 53 now 54 and my testosterone is around 890 and feel fantastic.
@@otaznikvykricnik5961 are you in the usa? Anything under 600 is going to be awful. Try reaching out to an online clinic and getting your total to between 700 and 900 and see how you feel

Extremely helpful information. Thanks for organising this podcast Ben. I suspect for many people, getting an accurate testosterone reading is the first challenge. Depending on where you live, the second challenge may be getting TRT prescribed. It would also be good to know if those with a past history of any type of cancer is a contraindication to preclude TRT being used.
An informative video from an expert in the field but enlightening as well ,taken to the fact the history of wrongfully executed treatment and trial and error processes by so called “experts” in the field. Research, education and analysis not blind obedience is an important factor that comes out of this interview. Kudos to his unwavering dedication.
I was disappointed that the producer cut off Dr Morgenteler in the middle of his explanation of the VA study published in JAMA in 2013 and he couldn’t finish his sentence.

Nice video, Ive not heard of this DR, but I like that he isnt living in the stone age even though he is older than me. He also looks healthy, and I think that says a lot about a DR that we are willing to pout our trust into.
I need to express my opinion regarding the intro. He is implying that hypogonadism has no symptoms as long as Shbg is low enough to get free t into range. Let's see how he feels with SHBG of 2 and TT of 150 ngdL. SHBG has important functions. People need a healthy ratio of shbg and testosterone, with shbg being in a good range first. Testosterone has a long list of benefits that cannot be fully captured at the low levels he is advocating for.
I have/had significantly elevated SHBG. I used nettle extract for a month or so. It did nothing to lower SHBG but interestingly, it drove estrogen or estradiol (i cant remember) down to single digits. Very low. Subjective experience i didnt notice anything to accompany this.
I recently heard that estrogen is the reason for prostate cancer high estrogen in men so if they do take it they need to take an AI. The reason guys without testosterone therapy in their later years get it is because their estrogen is higher than their testosterone probably I'm totally guessing I just read an article in theory
Testosterone creates motivation and makes effort feel good! TRT is a no btainer for men who healthy enough to take it and doctors and the general public need to understand this. I posted a similar comment a few days before you did. Since the testosterone topic is both hugely emotional and profitable, we cannot expect only honest information. Here is my explanation: Of course, one feels better at 800 than at 450, at least short-term. However, as Huberman puts it, "growth means aging". So, by getting your T to supraphysiological levels, you may pull forward your energy reserves, from 20 years from now to today, possibly at the expense of our health in 20 years. TRT at mass scale is still relatively young, so we do not know the long-term effect. Bro science and TRT clinics don't care about our long-term health.
@NYGuy2000 I very much understand where your coming from it's hard to say exactly how it's going to effect people in the masses very long term however testosterone therapy has been around since the 1930s and there are a number of men on it for decades without issues (20-40 years). I have seen the data showing the change in average testosterone levels in the US and they are undeniably going down, along with sperm counts in men. Personally I haven't felt better in all my life, more so on how testosterone has effected me on a psychological level. My depression has subsided I am no longer irritable and easily agitated, I am calm and collected for the most part, anxiety has very much improved. I'm not doing this for an appearance thing, I just want a quality life and data has shown low testosterone to be more detrimental to men's health as we age so it makes me feel good that I'm being proactive in my health I suppose. I would say anything over the lab ranges to be super physiologic so I can see Hubermans point if kept over the ranges could potentially rob energy output years down the road and therfor having potential consequences in the future.
