Smart move shortening the run, I've had to do the same thing on my runs and rides last week too. Thank you for the honest first look into the shoes. Take care of that ankle :( I know it's not Idaho, but I still love your trails.
I've seen lots of reviews on these and nearly all say the same about being a great shoe for compacted dirt and other lighter trails. As soon as I seen your video I thought that's a pretty technical trail for these shoes, I can't see this going too well. I've just purchased these last week as got them heavily discounted at £120 and plan to use them for a few 10km Trail races but the ones I do are pretty tough courses but far from technical, just hard when you are having to race. Cool video though, big climbs often bring big views.
@@UltraTrailSteven ship to Australia I’m an 11!!! 🤣 Not out in Aus, but I’ve seen a comment about dev/Jan race that’s a bit technical in places (2bays 28/56km) I wanted the shoe but bought Ultra Glide (seen your pulse trail review) in the meantime. Maybe I just stick to it but on track massive endorphin/speed fan. I have weakish ankles n you normally roll it it on the 1,2,3 mistep. Play it safe?
@@georgepagotelis I have a friend that ran the 2 bays last year. Very cool! If you have weaker ankles, I would stay away from these. I have weaker ankles and these are just too unstable for me.
I have had good success with the Salomon Pulsar Trail, the Saucony Peregrine 12 (except the heel issue (can be fixed with tape)), Hoka Torrent 2, Hoka Zinal, Hoka Challenger. Those are my go-to shoes.
Either the rubber lined tracks at parks or a treadmill, especially for long distance. Go for walks in nature and only run outdoors when hunting or in danger. Nature is a cruel teacher. 😉
I have bad ankles as well, constantly rolling them on trails. I can’t seem to find shoes that give me more support on trails, what do you recommend for a female?
Thanks for the review, i twisted my ankle 3 times on my first run, those are not stable and too soft, i have 8 Saucony love the Peregrine and Xodus, but those ones are not worth the money, my honest review, Saucony Canada acknowledged that those are very soft
1. Love your content and really appreciate the work you put in. 2. I'm down in Huntsville, AL, so I completely understand the heat right now...brutal. I'm running at 5:00am and it's still over 80...makes it a little harder to get up early and get out the door. :)
great video!!! Ive never run in sauconys.... I was a hoka girl and now i seem to like the ON sneakers... what do you edit your videos with? Ive tried using my imovie but it is so laggy :(
Saucony makes some great shoes! They just might not be one of those. I like my Hoka and Salomon too! I edit on DaVinci Resolve Studio. What type of Mac are you editing on?
Great review. I was going to buy these but I have a weak ankle so I will pass. I do LOVE the Tectons and I will buy another pair. Have you tried the VJ Ultra 2? Probably my top shoe.
@@UltraTrailSteven The VJ's are second to none for traction. They are not a hoka cushion wise but you could easily run a 50k in them. But hands down the best shoe for technical, rocky, root filled, wet terrain
Thanks for this! Hadn’t heard about the instability issues and that is definitely not something I want to play with! That swim looked like easily the best part of the outing. 👍🏽
Steven, if possible, can you test the new Saucony Xodus Ultra? It has softer PWRRUN PB core with harder PWRRUN shell to stabilize and protect. I think it would be far more stable for you.

Yeah definitely need to play it safe when the heat index is over 100! It is a great trail; lucky to have it so close!
I loved these. First run 2K vert feet. Needed heal lock unlike my Hokas. But I was very impressed. The Peregrine 13s however were also amazing.
Good deal
Thanks for the review
Any time!
how about fitting size, true size or 1 size up?
True to size
Thanks for the honest review and I like the vibe of the video, very peaceful. You have earned yourself a subscriber, keep it up!
Thank you so much, Matthew!

HA yep. This was when the shoes first came out and there weren't too many videos on them yet. Good luck in your races!
Since its been a while have you used them again on any flatter speedier trails? Be interesting to see who you've gotten on with them over the time.
@@scottfinlayson8920 I’ve only worn them once since this video. That was on pavement. Lol
Good Florida shoe, if they are 11.5's send them down.😉
Haha nope. Size 11

Someone with ankle concerns as well, what would you recommend? I'm on east coast with rocks and roots

Those shoes ARE how you roll!
For sure!
Nice trail!
It is a fun trail!

I have really enjoyed the Salomon Pulsar Trail, and the Hoka Torrent 2. Both have been pretty good for my weak ankles.

Agreed! These are meant for crushed gravel “trails”

Thank you, Blake! Several of my friends run that early too; I just hate running early personally. 😂 my legs always feel so dead.

I am going to have to try the Tecton X. I have heard they are more stable. I have not tried the VJ Ultra 2 either.

Thanks for the honest review … looks an interesting shoe but not for tech.
That water looked good, damn good 👍

If you check some other reviewers, they also mentioned the instability issue. It was pretty severe. The swim was for sure the best part! Thanks, Chad.

I do want to test the Xodus Ultra. They would be more stable for anyone. Thanks!
@@UltraTrailSteven Yes ! i just bought the Xodus Ultra, i confirm they are way better then the Endorphin Edge, too many twists of ankle with the Edge
Those shoes sure are pretty, but not pretty enough to tempt me out of my beloved Hokas.
Haha I am a Hoka fan too
