i’ve been on a no clothing buying spree for 2 months and focusing on wearing what’s already in my closet since i have enough clothes for my day-to-day life. i realized that having style isn’t about buying new clothes all the time, but creating outfits with what you have and feels true to you ☺️
Yes! When Lindsey mentioned she was doing a "no buy" i got super inspired. I didn't by anything for nearly 2 months! I totally re-invented pieces in my closet, and realized that investing in "basics" has helped me a lot!
One of my pet peeves about the micro trends is that people will bash them later on when they go out of style, so I love your idea of focusing on your personal style rather than trends.
I think y2k (fast) fashion definitely needs to go but countries without updated trends in the market still have authentic y2k styles and it's actually cute. Influencers like ferchugimenez, kate brock, and several others pulls it off because they actually shop genuine y2k clothes. Y2K looks good when you're not going out of your way to be trendy, rather being true with your style and that goes with other style trends.
When it comes to micro-trends like the big patterns you were mentioning, that's why I think it's better, if you really like the aesthetic, to get like small accessories? Like scrunchies or hair clips that can go with anything and still add that little bit of fun even if the trend dies out eventually?
I feel like if you love a specific print, you won't really care if it goes in and out of style. So buying a shirt or dress or whatever in that print isn't a risk. I think this is good advice for people who don't actually love the print, they just want to be trendy.
for the y2k coming back, i agree that the bright colours + rhinestones on everything can be a little too much, but i think a y2k look has the potential to be really cute. I love how ruby lyn does it
i think y2k fashion it's not for real people, it can look good on ig on a pretty influencer, but in real life this kind of style looks more like a costume than an outfit
I was a teenager during y2k and as soon as we left the decade I realized how awful the fashion of it was (as did many of us from that era) but what the new generation is doing with the y2k fashion isn’t what normal people really wore during this time. A lot of what I’m seeing is what celebrity fashion was back then. Like artists and performers, which was even more over the top. But I can’t lie I love some of the new looks and hate others. Balance lol but I also agree with you
I've been digging a certain Y2K thing that I never got to enjoy growing up in CA - preppy long sleeves with collars or stripes and sweaters. The reason they feel Y2K are the particular patterns and colors that themselves seem like 70s throwbacks but are perfectly cropped for low rise jeans. I don't actually wear low rise jeans now but the cut just looks so much better on me than modern crops or other vintage "full length" sweaters.
i can’t even say i know how to crochet but a lot of the things we see on internet have the most basic patterns that are easy to learn so maybe you should give it a shot! i can totally see you getting into it!!😻
Along with a lot of these comments, I do agree that the y2k style is really cute but yeah, I feel like they’ll die out soon again. The rhinestones are a bit too much, but a lot of the silhouettes are really cute so it definitely has tons of potential!
I don’t understand the Y2K coming back it just looks messy to me and I don’t think it’s going to last by like next year those shirts and all the Rhine stones are going to look tacky again
when 90s first started coming back in i was like 'NO, no way' 90s and fashion in the same sentence?! Then i thought about it remembered kate moss, grunge, minimalism, the supermodel era, etc. and now it's a vibe. Maybe we will feel the same way about y2k 5 years from now. Especially if you look past the diamantes and really bad frosted eyeshadow and stripey highlights in the hair, some of the silhouettes like the low rise hipster flares and the chunky boots were actually kinda cute and I do remember back then the wider the bottom of your silhouette the cooler you were cos it made you look really tiny on top and emphasised your waist. I wouldn't have been caught dead in a tapered trouser or a straight leg even back then, we thought they were absolutely vile. And high waist? Super frumpy mumsy super unstylish school headteacher vibes. Now i dress like that school headteacher and i think it's cute and chic.
I pay zero attention to fashion or my style but I’m watching this cause I love you and it’s entertaining and I’m cacklingggg at “art teacher chic” for the clogs 😂😂
LOL i'm neither a '90s nor Y2K fashion girl so these trends are all tough for me T_T I still love the resurgence of '80s fashion that happened a while ago, and it works better with my body type
lindsey you can definitely pull off the cargo pants just wear them with a cute little white ribbed tank and some white sneakers and voila. from there you can explore different outfit variations
how can rhinestones be too much? i absolutely adore them, it’s such a simple way to spruce up an outfit! i was born just as the mcbling era was ending, but the hyper-girliness of it all is so appealing. it also originated in black/latino communities so it’s less of a trend to me and more what my older sister figures were wearing.
i was wondering how so many people can view y2k this negatively in this comment section but your comment made me realize that it might be a class and culture thing. This style didn’t die out in lower middle class black and Latino communities as fast as it did in mainstream media. As someone born and raised in a black/Latino community in NY, I’ve admired the women around me that dressed in this style as a child, so seeing it resurge as an adult and being able to actively wear the style is satisfying a part of my inner child.
I love he long skirt look, but I'm so scared that I won't be able to pull it off. I couldn't never find words to describe why, but when you mentioned the Duggars, thats what I was thinking.
Wow those cargo pants look crazy, nothing like people actually wore back in the day. Also, most people I remember in the early 2000s wore denim as mini skirts and lots of spaghetti strap dresses and tank tops
Doesn't Karma track, save and sell your data? Like Honey? I am very skeptical when it comes to web extensions which are always 'on' .. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong because I am not certain, but..
im from Chile, so trends here arrive like a year later hahaha and im from a little city in the souuuuth so people dress very casual and i don’t see a lot of girls wearing trendy clothes, by now i just have seen some girls wearing y2k tshirts and thats it✨ (just my experience)
Subscribed the minute you said you always wear black, my struggle is thinking I don’t look good in anything except black colors. Would love to see a vid of all black outfit if you don’t already have on your channel 🖤🤩
Is it just me who believes so many of these are actually not trends right now, like Jean skirts, futuristic jelly sneaker, kilts, clogs etc are like very unpopular imo
It might just be me, but it seems like a lot of the trends for skirts/bottoms are a reaction to the types of jeans that are in style right now. With so many people struggling to find high waisted or vintage cuts that are flattering (I have really narrow hips to finding anything but skinny/stretch jeans that look good is really difficult), I see a huge resurgence in skirts and cargo pants that can balance out your bottom and top half better.
Good god I hate clogs. They look so gross to me, like choose a normal slide or a slipper ahahaha. Doc sandals look better, and you should really only buy shoes that would be comfortable anyways
If y2k comes back in 20 years, I'll be interested to see if I'll like it then, but right now, it reminds me too much of the horrible outfits I wore as a child and young teen. It always looks like a costume to me.
i dont have the money to buy brand new clothes so i like to check out what fashion trends are going on, seeing what i like and what would work for me, then hitting up the thrift stores after it starts dying out and people are donating them en mass lmao
I thrifted long denim skirt and long cargo skirt last year and I realized it's not for me. And most of all 00s trends are not for me. I guess it's too close to home as I dressed like that in middle school. Plus they have nothing new going for them, I could just wear the same clothes I owned when I was 13 and suddenly would be trendy again.
i guess it's my turk side getting offended when u said u didnt like bella hadid's dilara suit... but i also really like the suit and the belt personally
I am plant based not 100% vegan so I don't use the title. I buy leather/suede secondhand instead of vegan leather (plastic) because its more sustainable

I am on my second (non-consecutive) no-buy year and I was just thinking about that today! 100% agree!
Yes! When Lindsey mentioned she was doing a "no buy" i got super inspired. I didn't by anything for nearly 2 months! I totally re-invented pieces in my closet, and realized that investing in "basics" has helped me a lot!
Yeees

Underrated comment

Yes love that idea! I love my funky claw clips

YAY, was so excited to see your take on this type of vid!!!
my two faves right here
I relate to that last note, I will always gravitate towards 90s/70s over 2000s/80s!!

for those that have lived through it idk if they'd even be tempted to go back
i totally feel the same plus as a teenager on the y2k lol i used to have so many ugly 'now trendy' pieces that i would never buy back....
Amen haha I totally agree with this.

@@MsAriella i agree. The true early/mid 2000s fashion is my favorite era, the trendy y2k Pinterest look is too much.

Love chatting about fashion trends yearly!
Liked for the duggar shade

I love the baggy cargo effortlessly look!!!
Cargo and denim long skirts 🥰 I love!
I was going to suggest the thrifting trends I love video! Great idea!
Yess I think it will be so fun!
LOL i'm neither a '90s nor Y2K fashion girl so these trends are all tough for me T_T I still love the resurgence of '80s fashion that happened a while ago, and it works better with my body type

Absolutely love your denim and brown varsity jacket that you're wearing
Thank you! It’s vintage

Cargo pants were so popular in the early 2000s, glad it’s back.
i would love to see a video of you styling those trends
Totally!
off topic but you look so pretty in this video lindsey! 💓
Ur such a vibe why am I just now finding ur Channel
Doesn't Karma track, save and sell your data? Like Honey? I am very skeptical when it comes to web extensions which are always 'on' .. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong because I am not certain, but..
in your laini ozark era

please do a clog styling video !!!
Subscribed the minute you said you always wear black, my struggle is thinking I don’t look good in anything except black colors. Would love to see a vid of all black outfit if you don’t already have on your channel 🖤🤩
Futuristic jelly sneakers? We wear those hiking in Norway LMAO
i’ve been waiting for u to post all week
Another new video on Monday!
Hair goals as always 😍
you would ROCK cargos !!!
loved this!! your videos always calm me down so thank you🤍✨
Looking back at y2k fashion leaves me relieved that I was a grunge lover in my teens, it saved me from some intense fashion moments
long denim skirts can be super unflattering but I'd say their easiest to pull off if you're super skinny otherwise it's a frumpy look
Yes the 2022 fashion trends video will be a great idea
i feel exactly the same about jelly sneakers - just do not understand lol
Is it just me who believes so many of these are actually not trends right now, like Jean skirts, futuristic jelly sneaker, kilts, clogs etc are like very unpopular imo
I’ve been seeing longer to midi Jean skirts a ton. Clogs have been stylish for a few years now at least from what I’ve seen.
Kilts will never go out of style lol
i think it appears that way just because those trends aren't really popular where you personally live and you aren't seeing it in real life
We have the same jacket, cool, mine just doesn’t have the embroidered words. Weird thrift find
I have that same denim jacket as you ahh! different print embellished on the side though but ahhhh :D
where did you find your jacket from? I think it looks really nice^^
Ahh Lindsey thank you so much for the feature!! Loved the vid ❤️🔥
check out the Aritzia modern utility pant! not quite cargo but similar silhouette and way more flattering / timeless IMO
It might just be me, but it seems like a lot of the trends for skirts/bottoms are a reaction to the types of jeans that are in style right now. Hi! Love your video so much So I’m wondering may I translate this to Chinese and post it on Bilibili which is a Chinese website?🥺🥰🥰
i love your jacket!!
hey great vid! but I just wanted to let you know those 'jelly' sneakers are technical outdoors gear~
I respect them in that context haha
love love this video. always love your fashion content 💌
hey idk if you’re going to coachella but pls do a festival fashion guide plsss i have no idea what to wear all my outfits are a joke😅
manifesting me find a jacket like that
hii very late comment but where is your jacket from? :)
Side note: where’s your half heart necklace from? 😍
The fact 70% of these trends are things I’ve been wearing for the last couple years make me feel like a trend setter 😎😂
love thiSSSS !!
WHERE IS YOUR JACKET FROM??!
Good god I hate clogs. They look so gross to me, like choose a normal slide or a slipper ahahaha. Doc sandals look better, and you should really only buy shoes that would be comfortable anyways
the ties remind me of mitchel musso and demi lovato / middle school friends who were into anime lolol
Exactly
the bella hadid tie outfit looks ridiculous lmao
If y2k comes back in 20 years, I'll be interested to see if I'll like it then, but right now, it reminds me too much of the horrible outfits I wore as a child and young teen. It always looks like a costume to me.

hey girl! where do u get ur tee's from?
Mostly vintage but my favorite plain tees are from Re/done and Lacausa
where is the jacket your wearing in the beginning from?
I thrifted long denim skirt and long cargo skirt last year and I realized it's not for me. And most of all 00s trends are not for me. Love the suit and belt! I just don't like the neck tie with it
I feel like if people actually do like those big prints, they probably don't regret spending money on them.
Bella Hadid is such a style icon
i dont think cargo pants go w ur style but the other ones do
more videos like this 🥰
im not allowing ties to be a thing
yeeeees!!!!
Watching this video it seems that I am not very caught up on what’s in fashion these days 💀
does anyone know where the denim jacket is from? the one she is wearing in most of the video.
It’s vintage
@@lindseyrem thanks for answering! I heard that in another video. I was just wondering if it had a label on it or something 😅
I’m all about the 90s and Y2K fashion.
I love kilt skirts I hope they go out of fashion so all the girlies drop them off at the thrift store for me
I think y2k looks awful. It never looked good back then and it still looks bad now.
Наш акцент узнаешь из тысячи😁
👋Good luck
I want to like to say that you are very pretty and beautiful girl
How can you call yourself vegan but promote wearing leather?
I don't call myself vegan. Secondhand leather is better for the planet than vegan leather (plastic).
I thought Lindsey was vegan ? Yet she is supporting buying leather and suede shoes
I am plant based not 100% vegan so I don't use the title. I buy leather/suede secondhand instead of vegan leather (plastic) because its more sustainable
I apologize by the comment, but for a second in thought I was seeing Riley Reid.
