I got mine done professionally, by the only person I trust to piercing me. The biting down, and random soreness are things that I experience. Just take smaller bites and try not to suck on your piercing, bc thats what makes it sore. She probs couldn't figure out why it was sore, bc you tend to do it unconsciously.

I've had my smiley pierced for four years. I pierced it myself. I have zero problems with mine. It was healed within 2 days. The only time it affects my eating is if i try to eat an apple .I can leave mine out for weeks/months at a time without it closing up. Alot of people mistake it for something on my teeth and question me about it. However, I don't let that bother me i just laugh with them and go on. Hope you get more adjusted to yours and end up liking it , if not that's okay its not for everyone. Best of vibes youur way !

Try changing the jewelry to a curved barbell. My smiley piercing doesn’t have any issues with the curved barbell! (: and when Im eating its not long enough to disturb my sandwich lol.
I changed mine to a .22 gauge horse shoe from the 16 they pierced it with and that helped sooo much , it’s not near as heavy and it’s like it’s not even there

For my smiley piercing, I have a horseshoe ring but the balls are PLASTIC! that helped me so much because I didn’t want any metal rubbing against my teeth. I got a pack of about 10 or 12 from SHEIN for $2. I pierced mine Nov. 2020. I experience random soreness but other than that, everything is all good :-)
I had mine for two years, it was hard to clean it properly. It would get plaque on the jewellery. It started to indent my gum. I loved it but it was just so nice to be able to brush my teeth properly and as vigorously as I wanted too!
i've had mines for almost 2yrs , i got mines so IT CAN be seen ... mines healed really fast , i have severe allergies , the only problem i've had with my piercing is that when i constantly blow nose and rub it , it gets irritated... but other than that , i gargle with peroxide and mouthwash after . works wonders

yeah definitely use sea salt. i use mouthwash too but only after i’m done eating. i use sea salt or just regular medical saline at night and in the morning. depending on the gauge you used, you can just use a regular earring and put a rubber back on it. that’s what i did. they also have cartilage jewelry in bigger gauges with silver balls as backs. they’re usually screw ons. i don’t recommend using curved jewelry for new piercings because the hole goes straight through and it’s not made for a curved piece of metal through it just yet lol. good luck.

Most of your problems are probably because you use a horseshoe for your smiley. Smiley piercings really should NOT have a horseshoe hoop in there. It sits on your teeth and wears away the enamel. It also hangs down to low and gets hit by food, like subs and sandwiches as you said. I got my smiley pierced 8 years ago and I have had zero problems with it. I use a captive hoop in mine. The only thing that is a downside is that I still can't bite into an apple with it
i done mine myself 4 days ago and the reason i looked up videos of this is because its rubbing my top lip gum.. i have a eyebrow piercing in it rn im waiting for it to heal before i put another one in and i think that could be another reason its rubbing because i dont have the right one and the balls are rubbing it

I think what bothers me the most about my smiley is that i can hear a faint high pitch scraping noise when i move my head or when i'm talking- sometimes i don't even notice is but what i do, it's sooooo annoying and i'm really hyper sensitive to certain sounds. it sounds exactly like a knife against a plate. another thing with mine (it might just because i got the horse-shoe ring for the healing process) but it moves SO MUCH and i have to constantly adjust it with my tongue. idk im constantly asking myself if this piercing was even worth it- i honestly got it out of boredom but whateva- you're only supposed to have a smiley in for 2 years so- guess i'll wait til then pffttt

It's very normal for lip/mouth piercings to create gum and teeth damage... It's very bad, I personally have lip piercings and one of my teeth is broken because of it. You should really decide on getting them because these piercings rub against the gum and teeth and if they cause problems you could potentially need to take them off... Health before fashion...
I’ve pierced mine three times now and take it out because I get tired of it sometimes. The only problems I have are since I use a tiny curved barbell (like TINY) it slides to one side sometimes and only one will hang when I’m talking or something like that. Healed super quick all times and it’s cute. I love being able to flip up my barbell since it’s so small. I’m still just self conscious to use a horse shoe or hoop 😂

Don't ever use mouthwash try saltwater or get a sugar-free mouthwash because as far as irritation goes mouthwash there sugar in that and his alcohols in it that can irritate your piercing depending on the person yet don't use mouthwash

Every time I ate the ball of my horseshoe stud fell off.. I experienced this twice before I took it out but I’m going to get it done again but just get a barbell instead 😊
I pierced mine a year ago. My problem is when the ball decides that it wonna get loose at the wrong time. Once I was brushing my teeth and the ball got loose after that I was drinking a cup of tea then I realized I swollowed the ball😢😭 It was my favourite ring. Anyways dont worry about the soreness it will soon disappear.
that is why any of my piercings that have balls i always check to make sure they are tight after doing something such as brushing my teeth or eating. but the soreness did go away lol

You can get non alcoholic mouthwash, that’s what I used for my smiley and tongue and they both healed perfectly :)

They're called keloids. They're really common. Typically they go away on their own but id go to a doctor just in case.

the squeaking is the worst😭 its bad when u have just brushed ur teeth so there’s no padding for it to stop squeaking

It's very normal for lip/mouth piercings to create gum and teeth damage... It's very bad, I personally have lip piercings and one of my teeth is broken because of it. You should really decide on getting them because these piercings rub against the gum and teeth and if they cause problems you could potentially need to take them off... Health before fashion...

Only problem I had was the eating part while it was healing! It only takes bout 2 weeks to heal.. I used warm sea salt water and swish it around

I’ve pierced mine three times now and take it out because I get tired of it sometimes. The only problems I have are since I use a tiny curved barbell (like TINY) it slides to one side sometimes and only one will hang when I’m talking or something like that. Healed super quick all times and it’s cute. I love being able to flip up my barbell since it’s so small. I’m still just self conscious to use a horse shoe or hoop 😂

try some type of friction gloves like black gloves and be super gentle the friction and patting dry of the area should help you get it out

Don't ever use mouthwash try saltwater or get a sugar-free mouthwash because as far as irritation goes mouthwash there sugar in that and his alcohols in it that can irritate your piercing depending on the person yet don't use mouthwash

@@yolo5047 Hey Reyna! My throbbing and numbness went away after a couple weeks/ a month. Just give it time to fully heal, but make sure you are doing the proper cleaning!

Every time I ate the ball of my horseshoe stud fell off.. I experienced this twice before I took it out but I’m going to get it done again but just get a barbell instead 😊

I pierced mine a year ago. My problem is when the ball decides that it wonna get loose at the wrong time. Once I was brushing my teeth and the ball got loose after that I was drinking a cup of tea then I realized I swollowed the ball😢😭 It was my favourite ring. Anyways dont worry about the soreness it will soon disappear.
that is why any of my piercings that have balls i always check to make sure they are tight after doing something such as brushing my teeth or eating. but the soreness did go away lol
