You are looking at the firefighting color palette which is greyscale unless temperatures are extremely high like you would see in a fire situation. You should be able to change this within the camera's menus. FLIR doesn't always include a set distance for their imagers since the most accurate way to to gauge distance is a combination of your camera's resolution and field of view. Generally, the K2 would be better since it has a more narrow field of view than the K1, allowing the pixels to more accurately focus on objects farther away.
