I've been sewing for over 60 years and have a bit of experience but never could figure out the best way to taper jeans. Your way makes PERFECT sense to me! Please keep up your WONDERFUL videos; I've very grateful to have them for reference. You are a gem!
I have only just found your channel. I LOVE IT!!! You explain everything so that I can understand it. I have sewn all my life (over 50 years!) but YOU TEACH ME SOMETHING NEW EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! Thank you for doing these videos... and btw... I love your personality, your voice and your ability to teach... it makes a wonderful "package" that translates (portrays YOUR ability and YOU) very well!!!
I ordered my ruler like yours I have no idea how I sewed without it I love alterations and you are the best teacher I have ever watched please make more
I tappered some jeans in the past like the "normal and straight" method and always thought it was so strange bcause "legs aren't straight" I don't even have to try to know this method is waaaay better. Thanks :D
"Don't trust me, just do it" lol she is adorable. I have learned so much since subscribing. I've been sewing a long time, but have always been intimidated by alterations. Thank you!!!!
Thanks! Your method makes total sense. I am not very good at alterations yet but I bought a curved ruler. I am feeling like I was smart for buying it now!
Hi again. Another excellent demonstration with clear explanation throughout. The addition of the illustration helped to understanding the overall process.
You literally are amazing! So nicely explained. Liked 👍 and already subscribed! Would you please do a video on the professional way to do a crossover waist detail on denim jeans. There is no good professional video I’ve found on RUclips. Thank you in advanced 😊👍
Hi! Thanks. For Eurohem just cut the pants to the desired length. The seam allowance you need to sew back the hem is almost equal to the hem. That's why you can avoid calculations. Cheers 😊
Great video! Just was hoping for "after" pictures? Either modelled or on a mannequin, with a comparison of how it would have looked without the curve? I've noticed some people's calf muscles on the inseam are not as pronounced as others, particularly if the person is bowlegged at all. Some people have that curve, and some people really don't. Curious how it looks on. Edit: just looked at the thumbnail. That's really interesting.
Hi it’s me again 😁 What is your name please, so i won’t always say Miss 😁 I don’t know who’s speaking behind the video, but it’s great because she knows exactly what to say. I have to say, i’m a little confused , the video is really good and i will listen to it meany times , and i will catch it 🤪 Thank you Again Miss Great work and video Please excuse my English, i really try to do my best and don’t always find the words i want. French in English is not always easy 😁 Have a good evening 🌹
Hello Sophie! My name is Aida, and the person who is doing the voiceover sometimes is my daughter. She edits all of the videos so sometimes she does a voice over for clarification. Your English is great!! Cheers :)
Thank you so much! I developed this technique myself through trial and error. When the fashion trends started to change with pants as they became more slim each time, there was a point in which you couldn’t have it so tapered are the ankle and be comfortable at the calf/knees at the same time. So I realized that I had to make it curved somehow. It occurred to me that imitating the leg curve would solve the problem!
Let me add I have been sewing as-needed my entire life, mostly altering, and probably this biggest issue of annoyance is trying something on and marking myself. I often just do a basting seam - taking in a little and try on again and decide whether to take in more or complete. When I turn jeans into shorts I have a hard time marking myself one leg then, copying to the other leg and have it turn out exact at the end. I know this probably has to do with not knowing the best way, coupled by just rushing to complete. I have folded jeans and marked the 2nd leg yet when I cut, it is off. there must be some little fabric grinch living in my house that messes it up while I am cutting.
You did a really good job, BUT... Your new topstitches will be noticeable. Maybe not easily, but it will. There is technique that you can keep the ORIGINAL top stitches. Yes, it's kind of more complicated, but doable.
I'm a beginner so this is too fast for me as the video is sped up 5x in certain places. Also, there are not enough step-by-step instructions. The skipping steps verbally and/or lack of detail at this speed is only for very experienced seamstresses with years of sewing under their belt. I'm completely out of my depth with your style. TY.

Mercie

What type of chalk do you use in your videos?
PS: I love your jazz music in the background.
What model of juki is the one you are using?
❤️❤️❤️
How much be changed for the job, thanks!
Hi I really like your work and the way you teach .
I have a ? For euro hem how long we have to cut the length thanks 😊

You make a great point.
I understood why you split the measurement in to 4 parts 🤓😉
Hi it’s me again 😁
What is your name please, so i won’t always say Miss 😁
I don’t know who’s speaking behind the video, but it’s great because she knows exactly what to say.

💖💖💖
Lots and lots of work to give the customer what he/she wanted, but curious as to how much you charged for this amazing job, if you don't mind sharing!
👍
What if you want to add fabric to side of Jean and also keep the skinny leg?
Hi Janice! For this you reduce the same amount you are adding and that way they'll remain skinny. Cheers 😊
Que pena que no este traducido sl español,me gustan estos videos🤔
Si. Es una pena! Por ahora no tengo los recursos para hacer los vídeos en los dos idiomas, pero si puedo responder a tus dudas o preguntas. Saludos!
@@DowntownTailoring podrías poner los subtítulos en ambos?
Awesome tutorial video thank you 🙏
How much would you charge for this alterations please ?
Around 55 CAD.
@@DowntownTailoring Now I know how much I am saving when I do it myself! 😉
How or where did you learn this technique? Your videos are amazing
Thank you so much! I developed this technique myself through trial and error. Downtown Cobbler wow thanks for the explanation! I wish i could take classes from you
Thank you, I’m flattered!
Great work how to do that we’re do get the curve ruler
Haha thank you Anne!
It is called french ruler. Maybe in a store where they sell threads and other stuff for sewing?
You have some drawing ✍️ skill
I wish you have put the measurement so that we can get your presentation
Could you show videos where you are measuring the customer and them trying on at the end? The total, before, during and after!!!!!!

Now I've found someone who knows what she's doing
Thank you very much!

No vi resultado 🙄
You are my mom 😉
I’m about to do this to every Jean I buy no joke hard to be a little big and being 5,3 every pants be like if I’m 6foot lol
Oh wow!! Yes alterations would help for sure! Hope it goes well :))
Why do the voices change? The first lady speaks very well, there was no need to put someone else there.
Hi! Because the second lady is the one who's sewing. Cheers 😊
Your too fast to explain
