Thank you for your feedback! This is my 5th year of growing, and 3rd year in the new place; when I moved, I had to -re-start my collection from leaves. Hope I can show 6-12 year old plants in the future!
I have a soil question, i made your recipe but its been sitting in the container for 8 months not being used, i only have a small collection, does this change the PH of the soil, and would be better to make fresh only what i need, in other words , does sitting for long periods of time change the PH, thanks
Yes, potting mix changes pH over time, becoming more acidic as it ages. This is because the organic matter in the potting mix breaks down. Peat moss, for example, normally needs to be used within 1-2 years max. For 8 month-stored mix, I would try using it on a few plants, for which you got extras, for observation in case it doesn’t work. Making fresh mix in smaller batches as needed will work best.
Hi. I just put 6 of my violets on wick watering. I had previously repotted them so did not want to do that again. I used a large needle to thread the wick up into the soil. My questions are how will I know if it is working? Should the soil always appear wet/moist? Will I know it’s working because the water in the jar is disappearing? Thanks!
@@karenvknight6516 It should work, as long as the wick is presoaked, the potting mix contains at least 50% coarse perlite, and the plants have well developed root system, strong enough to grow on wick watering. I would water it sparingly from the top, after you thread the wick, to get the capillary action going. Yes, you’ll know it’s working when the potting mix remains moist and the water level goes down in the reservoir over time. Happy growing!

🏆💐👏🏼
Love it! Just tell us if you put this glass under dome or plastic bag on top. I've never done it in water. This looks easier . Thank you!
@@charocflores I will! Already see some roots growing - Part 2 coming up soon!
@@grayturtleviolets awesome!

@ thanks for your wonderful videos!
Just in time! I have 2 that have long necks and need to be cut back but was afraid. Looks like yours was not on a wick? Do you change water?
