Absolutely love the bridge tour. Your knowledge and explaining the little things, for instance the light to dim all those green lights, and the "stay awske" button that notifies the next person in line, add so much to just 'seeing' it. Although that is impressive. I could easily watch a full hour and 20 minutes of this type of video, not just 12 seemingly short minutes. Thanks so much, it's wonderful they let you basically have carte blanche to roam and film. You did a wonderful job, if I owned that yacht and chartered it out I'd try and hire you to do publicity videos. Maybe have you meet it in some warm and beautiful place, do the video, and trade for you being able to charter it for a week or ten days when it suited you.

Very nice video, thank you. Did not realize the term "ecdis" is still in use. I got my Bsc in Marine Enginnering 1995 and chosen my thesis to be written about Ecdis. Wrote to Garmin UK and they were so kind to send me a full user manual of one of their top units at the time, by post. Back in the days it was so new I heard back from the university department that some active Captains visiting the department, took my thesis for a read and that was their first learn about such system, before they got really widespread on bridges. Abandoned my marine career very early though, to become an office rat, really sad.
On yachts that have aft cameras that are capable of sending to the bridge wing, why not have laser range finders on those cameras to help the captain know the range to the dock? Not eliminating the crew with radios, but as a supplement to them.
It’s not as simple as a car. You’re on water, when you stop propulsion the ship doesn’t stop. Also these lasers get damaged, dirty, covered in sea water etc. even if they had them they’d still have someone standing there. You can’t beat the human eye.
I know all yachts are different, so seeing the inner workings of these big yachts is nice to see. Coming from a 41 ft. boat, this is very impressive. I have worked on oil rigs that have some similar radar and emergency equipment, but nothing like this.
Re Bridgewings: I know of company that spent quite a bit of effort to make an App for controlling the ship in lieu of proper bridge wing controls, so the ship could be docked via IPad. Obviously, that was for the Steve Jobs yacht.
Nice tour but there was something on the lens. It looked foggy, hazy, or smudged over by something. Sadly, it was not up to the level of your other sharp clear videos.
I hope Furuno have got better at producing manuals for all this stuff, Back in about 1995 we got a new Furuno radar and Peter the skipper wrote on the cover - reading this will seriously damage your brain. He was not wrong.
It's a separate video from the rest of the yacht tour. For people like me who could watch an hour of the tech stuff, how the systems 'talk' to each other, how the autopilot compensates for wind and currents or if the Captain has to figure that in and just set bearings as opposed to destinations, and dozens of other things too. 😀 😊

Yea, the study required and tests and qualifications to hold a license to pilot a yacht of that size is extensive to say the least.

Fun tip! You actually have to be certified to enter AIS information.
That is interesting. I hadn't heard that mentioned on this or other boating channels when talking about AIS.
@@festerofest4374 Yeah they'll let any old drunk like me hook it up, but to actually enter the data you need certification. Lives are at risk.

Is there a lock-out/tag-out system for the radars to prevent them from rotating or transmitting when a crewmember is up there?
Well generally they will put signs on the controls if someone is working on the mast. But they never start them without checking the mast is clear.

Why so much footage on the bridge?
He's an engineer guy. I'm tecnically inclined too.
Don't show me the jacuzzi/ waterfall, show me the hidden pumps/ plumbing.
The full tour is in a previous video. He wanted to go more in-depth on the bridge, which would have made that video very long.
