@amitsabharwal88 Yes he is a gifted musician. When I first heard his playing in the temple area I thought this sounds like a Sarangi because the sound was so full and rich. When I came closer I was amazed to watch the musician playing on such a simple Instrument. I was able to buy this Ravanhatta direct from him and I think he also has made the instrument himself. I have tried to play the Ravanhatta - it's not easy to produce sounds and it sounds much better in a dry climate of Rajasthan.
When I got the Instument I checked the tuning, because it might have changed during travelling. The main string of this recorded tune is in C# C sharp. This basic note could also be natural C. This depends on the size of the Instrument. Let us use the base tuning as C. The sympathetic strings are: C Bb (flat) C Db Eb F G Ab Bb C. If you want the same sound as this Ravanhatta is played, you make the tuning one simitone higher start c# B C# D etc. Hope this will be helpful and goog luck.
So proud to be a Rajasthani :) That's soo sad when people who define soul music are not attention because off sick people interested in repeated crap Bollywood music
that is so true. I have planned this for like a decade that only traditonal marvari tunes, instruments etc shall be played in my wedding rather than the bollywood crap
Thanks a lot .A lot. I am blessed, that your effort let me float in the real bliss of heart rending music. you may read about PAARI an NGO by P.Sainath. he needs people like you. Great job. Roy Cochin, Kerala
its so sad that Indian Govt. is doing nothing to save street Musicians in India. The Musical Heritage is wasted just like that, and the musicians like these have no mention, people rather listen to that Bollywood Techno Crap Music.
