Lewis CARROLL (1832 - 1898)
In this sequel to "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", Alice is playing with her kittens - a black kitten and a white kitten, the offspring of Dinah, Alice's cat in the first book - when she ponders what the world is like on the other side of a mirror's reflection... (summary from wikipedia)
Genre(s): Action & Adventure
Language: English (FULL Audiobook)
This Alice in wonderland series are the type of books you have to pay attention every moment bc if you zone out for even a second you will get lost. I’ve had to start this over more times than I’d like to admit.
You’d also miss the gems contained in just about every sentence of the book. It’s a masterpiece.
I hope it gets better this first chapter makes her sound crazy
@@MelB868bro how
I zoned out a lot of times when listening to this. When I watched the 1985 miniseries, parts like the White Queen turning into a sheep and the insects had me confused.
You could say it stimulates the imagination 😊

I fall asleep to you sweet voice reading this book every night. You bring her to life.. I have severe anxiety and you help bless you
That’s beautiful
I have severe anxiety as well..and I completely agree.
I love falling asleep to a great audiobook. Love the Humpty Dumpty chapter.
Ive never made it through this book yet because I always put it on at night and it puts me to sleep almost instantly, the most soothing narrator I've encountered other than Stephen fry, a job well done

Alice in Wonderland is written so it flows along faster, it seems to only take a half hour. Through the looking glass is very quotable, but it feels like a series of obstacles that you have to labor through, instead of a running stream like AiW. I think it's because TLG is a series of discussions while AiW is one action leading to the next action.
That’s a very excellent way to explain the difference between the two stories. I’ve always struggled to figure out how to explain then as simply as possible
Alice's conversations would have been longer had the person not disappeared or suddenly dismissed her.
watched the movie about Alice through the looking glass and was amazed by everything inside it
Thank you for reading these both so gracefully. This is wonderful.

I usually avoid librivox readings but this one was simply delicious. A real pleasure.
May I ask why you avoid librivox ones? Just curious since I was looking to listen to my first audibook, I realised there's many versions.
@@daisymcadams2935 Just personal taste. I find a lot of the librivox readings a bit flat and I get bored fairly soon, whereas the more professional recordings keep me engaged.
@@chechoaus I see. Do you have any recommendations where I should look for the more engaging ones?

My favorite part of the book is the whole humpty dumpty conversation, that was pretty funny.
Thank you for making this video for us! You are a fantastic reader.
I concur indeed.
The audio on this is very good, but I just can’t help it I have a huge preference for an English accent for this book!

Alice Through the Looking Glass creates a topsy-turvy world that turns society upside down, with fantastic glee, and pokes fun at the pompous certainties of the Victorian era. I've also written a story THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL HARMONY - which is volume of my stories called SEVEN TALL TALES; available at Amazon as a book or a kindle - that has some of same mischievous humour and surreal fantasy of Lewis Carrol's famous tale. It is about a new ministry in a radical government that manages to eradicate crime altogether, to the horror and alarm of the former guardians of law and order, who see heir livelihoods going down the river; and who, in their desperation, make efforts to reverse the situation. You might find it of interest and amusement, along with the other stories in the book, which include a murder mystery and a futuristic dystopia, Happy listening, and reading

pardon my short attention span, but the scene in the 1985 movie shows alice calling to her parents from behind the glass (where they can't seem to hear her and leave). was that unique to the film and not in the book or any other version?
Izlude Tingel Yes, the shows had to run longer to fill up timeslots so they would add bits and details here and there.

So, is this book intentionally a tongue in cheek allegory of the middle ages and the War of the Roses? I could literally attribute a real life historical figure to every character in this story.
England is the lion. Scotland is the unicorn. The "King" must be Germany?

My only complaint is not the American accent, that's fine; it's the "vocal fry" in the voice, so common today with American females.
What has caused this "fry" in the American female voice?
