    This osplet was suffering in such an injured state and the best thing for it happened, and in a natural manner, too. It is important and interesting to see this side of raptor life, if for no other reason than to balance out the otherwise often Disney-like portrayal of their lives as nothing but cuteness, cuddles, and kisses, flying and soaring high...way above reality. This is part of the beauty that is ospreys and raptors, and should be embraced with all of the other elements, from breeding to brooding to bonking and beyond.

  • @AtlanticSecurity
    @AtlanticSecurity  5 лет назад +58

    Again... It is ILLEGAL to interfere with wild raptors. The fine is up to $15,000.00 and can include jail time. This stuff happens every day in the wild, but it isn't captured on film. We are simply observers in the everyday drama of Mother Nature's world and have no right to decide the fragile natural balance. We provide this fascinating look into a world most of don't get to see because it is such an important part of our world. If you really want to do something meaningful to save wildlife, recycle.

      Dan, I agree that it's heartbreaking to see moments like that and sometimes sad that people blame those who only provide live stream. We understand about the rules and fines, but we not only know, we see around and on the web cams how people cut the trees, turn forests and fields into building sites. Poor owls lose their nests and attack other birds like mad. It's not nature, it's what people and desire to make more money do to the planet. In reality we recycle whatever we can, whatever they tell us to recycle, but can we really help mother nature without better laws and better actions?
      Talking about my own example: there were always swans and other birds not far from us and now there are less and less of place for their nests and hardly any chicks in spring. What can we do without help of the local governments and law and rule makers?

    As I understand it, this chick could not have saved unless they could put it into an educational program. Birds with broken wings cannot fly after they are mended. I just watch an eagle rescue were the birds wing was broke and they could not release it because it could not fly. The explanation given was that scar tissue build up were the break is mended and the wing is too stiff to use to fly. Rescuers have to make very difficult decisions concerning these birds. Birds that Cannot be returned to the wild have to be put down or they have to find a sanctuary that can keep them for educational purposes.

      For me , if the animal is in danger due to human activity, such as a beetle crossing a road , a turtle strangled in a net etc . Then we have the responsibility to reach out to them , cause it’s us who make them struggle.
      But in this case , the chick fell into the lake due to an owl attack , it will be better to that its suffering end quick for god sake . And the reason why we don’t rescue these so-called “poor creatures “ , maybe you “rescue” seem to be a good way to show mercy , you actually frightened the chicks and the parents , which is not welcomed .
      Of course , helping animals means that you have a kind heart , a thing that I wish all the humans could have . But in some cases , when Mother Nature decided to do something , just that it be .
