I never enjoyed the original Magic Keyboard and preferred the Smart Keyboard Folio. However, I am thoroughly enjoying the new model. The trackpad is much more usable, and everything elsefeels and functions better.
Considering their price, I don't like they continue using this soft touch material. It works for a case, but for a keyboard... They look terrible in a few years.
I have never had a Smart Keyboard Folio or Magic Keyboard not easily clean up. Regardless of what people assume, the darker colors wear quicker but typically the white ones look great longer.
@@airjohnpro it's not even about clean up. It starts physically deteriorating. My Smart Keyboard Folio is about 5 years. The upper layer is broken on all four corners and the surface is very uneven, doesn't matter how I clean it.
i have a magic keyboard and when i try to type on it, some of the keys dont work, as in when i click the ‘o’ key, the ‘o’ doesn’t pop up when i click on it. i really need help with this
I *HATE* the material of the old one with a passion, it’s impossible to keep clean, it picks up oil marks and also scuffs and just looks gross after a while. It seems the new one has the same problem still?
Thanks for the review. I currently got 2020 iPad Pro and the old Magic Keyboard. Are both working on a newer companion (so the 2020 iPad with 2024 Magic Keyboard and v.v.?)
Just tried it out at the Apple Store (briefly) yesterday. I used to be a iPad-as-my-only-computer guy before traded it in and got my M2 MacBook Air. I’m kind of considering going back just because I like the new Magic Keyboard so much more than the old one. I also kind of miss iPadOS.
Thanks for the review! Been wanting a harder case. Figured the official one from Apple might hold some type of warranty/testing so my Ipad doesn’t start to overheat due to the case or just in case that does actually happen. Will compare and consider other budget friendly options as well.
The pricing on the new iPad pros pencil and these keyboards is insane. The keyboard doesn't protect the sides and only one orientation stupid Apple design. I prefer the logitec combo touch design.
I was toying with the idea of getting this since I'm upgrading from my iPad 6th gen to a 13" Air. But after poking around a bit it looks like the new 13" Air supports only the old keyboard. Boooo!
WTF, why does this thing have a trackpad when the device is already touchscreen? Oh right: Because working on a touchscreen all day sucks. This is why touchscreen computers suck (and have failed), and trying to turn a gimped toy into a computer sucks. So now just get yourself a MacBook Air and call it a day.
@@fredwolkovitz2146 I had the old one and remember it did not have them and so many people complained about it and you sure don’t see it in any of the review videos
Such a waste to spend the money when it still can't fold all the way back to use it as a notebook. Really dumb to pull it off the stand and worry about two things. How hard is it to just make it flip over???!!! Another brand has an about identical unit that folds over. Apple is missing the mark on this over priced keyboard again.

It's the same material on the outside, yeah
Not the white ones.
@@airjohnpro what do you mean not the white ones?
@@DigiDriftZone I’ve had both color iterations, white definitely stays “cleaner” for longer. The Black seems to show more wear.

How do you find the usability of the 11” keyboard generally? Too cramped, or do you kinda get used to it?

Is the new Magic Keyboard compatible with the iPad Air m2 2024?
No
New magic keyboard have diffferent arragend magnets place that hold ipad, so old ipads will not hold on it

magic keyboard m4, 2024, 11 inch or Logi ?
Have you found it doesn’t work properly with the RUclips app. Space bar to stop/start is glitchy
why there is no Fn?
Thank you for the video
Can work for ipad air 13inch?
Thanks for the perspective on old vs new Keyboard! Do the new keyboards work with the older (pro) models and the air?
Wondering the same thing. Cant figure out why the new keyboard wont work with the ipad air m2
Why does the escape key not do anything for me?
Thank you for this review Matt. You hit all the points that matter to me. Keep up the great work and let’s have more doggo drop ins 😊

why the heck does apple not put backlit keys on these things. I mean come on Apple.
They do have backlit keys. (Both the older and newer versions.)
Yea they have them. Perhaps you have not used one then?
