I can definitely agree on the fact that using cool brushes won't save your art, unless you learn how to use it. Personally, I've been using the most basic default brushes since forever and only use more specific brushes for a few textures (like hair).
The reason why I keep using the simple brushes is because I fear that if I were to migrate to a different program, I might lose some aspects of my style when I found out that some of the brushes I used in the previous program don't exist in the new one. Therefore, the more basic the brushes, I guess the higher the chances of you finding those same brushes in another art program. And ofc the benefit would be that I'd be forced to be crafty in terms of how can I produce the same result using the simple brushes as compared to using the more elaborate brushes, which I guess helped me improve.
I try to find a good brush to see if my line art looks “unique” not because I’m trash, I just want a style🥲 I think that’s why when I ask people what brushes they use I look at how they make their lines. I have the habit of using the g-pen too much. Guess I’m progressing :)
Having experienced this especially with traditional art (and buying lots of supplies 💀💀 and wasting money) this video is very helpful!! 💖💖

I love your artwork
How many years have you been drawing? How old did you start drawing? (i like your art)
I started drawing when I was 8 years old (but only for fun) then I started taking art a little seriously around 13-14.
