Yacin, about the mono compatibility I always preffer to do 2 layers: 1. Sub layer, full mono only with sustained notes (if this is my melodie), 2. Bass layer, sound design and a little bit in stereo (using the mono compatibility) and using bouncy notes (if this is my melodie) and I always think that is better to mix and also to have control when I want to change something in the track
Yalcin, there's a better way to add width to your basses.... Duplicate them and shelve frequencies on the duplicated track below 100 Hz. EQ to taste. Then add delays or whatever you want to that particular duplicate to add 'false' width. This is a common trick used by drum n' bass and dubstep producers to get those wide-sounding basses and gives you way more control over the way that particular sound will fit into the mix.
1. I don't know if I am so good but I am making different genres of music for 20 years now. 2 I learned different things at different stages of my life. Most of my harmony and theory knowledge actually comes from my classic guitar trainings when I was a kid/teenager. Melody experience comes from mostly my lead guitarist years, playing a lot of electric guitars. Drums from playing drums in a band. And finally genre knowledge probably comes from listening to a lot music and curating playlists and owning a music blog. Hope this helps. 😊✌
these videos are really, really helpful, all this information is priceless. other youtuber/producers should take note and do these type of videos for their genres :P
Wow! just half way through, and this is complete door-opener! Sweet man! Love your humble jerkyness as well! Sounds great, and I finally feel like I actually can start modulate the sound in serum from scratch, instead of finding some preset that sound somewhat like i want and try to twerk it into what I want, which never really worked. Thank you!
Hello, where can I find the drums that you used in this video ? I have a lot of trouble finding kits of this color, do you sell them, or do you have some infos on the subject ? Thanks
Dear Yalcin! Thanks for the amazing videos, i absolutely love them. I just bought the PML drums (1,2,3), it’s a game changer for me. Can you please tell me, exactly which kick is in this video?
Hallo Yalcin ! i really enjoyed awtching this tutorial ! but still have a question :I've seen you "always" using the Glue compressor , without changing the Attack value of the compressor ... even on Drum Buss(Kick+BASS),and even in this case , you are using plucky sounds for the first BASS .... which can reduce the attack /transient" of the sound .... what's your strategie on this point ? thank you ...
Not " always" :) But if I am making a quick fix for glueing 2 sounds or decreasing the dynamic range, than I would say I am mostly playing with threshold and gain as default parameters of glue compressor is made for this. The other question is harder to explain here as I need to do it and show the difference and even show it on the paint. I think I explained that one of my videos but not really sure at the moment. Could be in lead sound of melodic techno video. But making a compressor video could be an option for the future.
Hi Yalcin , congrats for your videos ! i thought i'd drop you a line to ask you if you mix with headphones? do you use the dt770 pro? on their own or do you use an eq like sonarworks with them? whatsd your experience?
Great video, thanks. What is that hollow hit sound you have on, or just before, every third beat? Is that a filtered Tom with reverb? Following you on Deezer now.... :)
Thanks man! Very in depth tutorial and you teach very nicely, making easier to beginners. This kind of music is really popular on my town right now so i'm really interested in it, maybe you could show some hints on leads too.
Most of the time I play it myself with Push/Keyboard and do some corrections with mouse afterwards. Being an ex-gamer myself, nobody can convince me there is a better tool than mouse for corrections 😅
All 3 baselines you showed are awesome. I was sitting in front of Ableton for 1.5 hours today and I'm looking for exactly that. But it has been too trancey for me, I think. Is also funny that I tried to listen to the bass mono. But it sounded really bad. Your video came at the right time. 😀 I always sidechaine with the LFO Tool. What do you think is better? With the Compressor or the tool? Or does not it matter? Incidentally, the video resolution or picture quality is very very good? Top video as always. Thx Yalcin! For the future, can you make a tutorial for arranging and mixing a Track?! Would be nice. 😉👍
It is really important how you side chain it honestly. LFO Tool gives you a lot of freedom on how you want to sidechain it. Compressor side helps exact match. SO use both of them I would say :)
I wish there were more teachers like you for electronic music! I don't know about Europe-but in Canada parents send their kids to guitar or piano lessons and music in high school is all classic rock or orchestra. No imagination. My niece is only 13 and already her guitar teacher is making fun of techno and electronic. Just my rant for the day.
I know the feeling but learning an instrument is still better than learning nothing.😅 I think we will see more people teaching electronic music in the future. Regarding to teachers making fun of techno and electronic music: it is just a defense mechanism. They will eventually come over it and see how rich electronic music actually is 😊
When I turned on the B oscillator in the video it's around 6 minute mark to add additional harmonics, for some reason the low pass filter didn't work on the second oscillator so the frequencies so it was letting all the frequencies through. Am I doing something wrong?
What do you think about parallel processing? So you can keep the bass mono in the lower regions, and above you put the effects for the middle frequencies.
Your videos are helping the genre. My music is better because of your videos.
I really like your tutorials. You're not annoying and you know what you're doing.
exactly! thank you for the tutorials :)
Absolutely agree!
9:40 groove is awesome!
This was also probably the best tuto to discover Serum. Impressed.
You're a good man and a great teacher.
Beautifully done, as usual! 🤍
Love your style. The second bass has been talked about to death and you show it so easily. Big ups

Yalcin. Awesome video. Thanks
Thank you very much for the sounds of the day, greets.
Yalcin , you help me so much
great video Yalcin, helps me a lot
Your tutorials are the best around. They have helped me so much in my music production.
i love that chorus and reverb trick it also works on atmos. its one of my favorite tricks
i have learned a lot from this video mate !! was stopping every 30 sec to adjust it to my track . Legend !
Dude. These tutorials are excelllent.
probably the most helpful tutorial for me on the way of techno producing. helped a lot. huge THX!
Well detailed tutorial video. I actually found a decent tutorial again after years
Yalcin. I have two questions for you. 1. How many years it took you to be so good?. 2. How have you learned all this? Who taugth you?.
1. I don't know if I am so good but I am making different genres of music for 20 years now.

these videos are really, really helpful, all this information is priceless.

also yalcin, the mono bass with the EQ M/S, you can't do it with the utility bass mono function??
Yes you can but utility provides less visual feedback and I wanted my viewers to see it visually as well 😊
@@Alice-Efe okay thanks !
Super tutorial, thanks x 1000

This is amazing! Especially no #2
Thank you so much for all of your video, you make me grow up in production!

Very good channel. Good instruction of good quality music. Keep doing melodic techno or progressive..
thx man!! 😊
Sick tutorials dude!!
Great tutorial. Is there a reason why you chose to use a mid side eq rather than a utility that turns everything under 200hz mono?
Been waiting for this...
"Now it's got a driving effect", LOL!
Big ups, bro!

As always great tutorial! Please do video on harder Techno style (like Hell Driver).

Very good channel.

Why is the bass in mono in the club?
The chorus bass. Could the utility stereo knob be turned down to compress the stereo field. To achieve a similar product that still works in a mix?
How do you make your kicks so punchy
When I turned on the B oscillator in the video it's around 6 minute mark to add additional harmonics, for some reason the low pass filter didn't work on the second oscillator so the frequencies so it was letting all the frequencies through. Am I doing something wrong?
Hit the B button next to the filter ;)

what is your headphone model?
That's a beyerdynamic dt770 , great headphones !
What do you think about parallel processing? So you can keep the bass mono in the lower regions, and above you put the effects for the middle frequencies.
Exactly. You just need a splitter for that and I have made a video about splitters already. Take a look at that ✌
@@Alice-Efe Thank you for your answer. I will watch the splitters tutorial right now.
