Incredible La Parguera, Lajas Puerto Rico! Isla Mata La Gata, Bio Bay Tour and More!

- We visit La Parguera in Lajas, Puerto Rico where we go on a boat trip to the mangrove island of Mata La Gata and explore the whole area including the boardwalk and swim. Then we head out to walk around downtown in the poblado and meet some great fans before going again on a night boat trip for the Bio Bay Tour to see the bioilluminence.
Lajas is my home. I left PR for 34 years but returned last year to stay for good. Best decision ever!

You know more about the island than the rest of the population. When Aeden grows up, sooner or later, he will want to visit the places he enjoyed with his parents when he was a little boy. I have not made the trip to visit Isla Mata La Gata, but it is on my to do list. Thanks for sharing your experience, and allowing me to get a virtual tour. I did visit Gilligan's Island which is not far away off of Guanica. I visited years ago before Maria and covid, so I don't know the current state of it. But Gilligan's would make for some very cool drone footage. Since Mosquito Bay in Vieques is the brightest Biobay on the island, and the world, I've made the trip twice and thoroughly enjoyed it. Once we did kayaks, and another time we did a boat that takes you out. I've also done the biobay in Fajardo, which was also a great experience.
Thanks Kings! We enjoyed the Vieques trip to the Bio Bay (you can see it in a past video), but it has gotten so touristy. I would have liked to have stayed out on the water a bit longer in the kayak. The boat trip in La Parguera was just about the perfect length of time.
@@LifeTransPlanet My first time in kayaks was easily my favorite in Mosquito Bay. I think it was about 10 years ago. We went off the shore in pure darkness, and the guide had a little glow stick. We went out to the middle, we were educated, and then we went for a casual swim. There was no rush, and after a while we re-mounted the kayaks, which was an experience for some, and then we paddled back. The moon phase was perfect, as was the whole experience. The second time I went with family years later, and it was on a pontoon boat. Everybody had their bags, their cameras, their phone, etc. Flash going off here, flash going off there, and all I'm sure for nothing. I did NOT enjoy it nearly as much, but overall it was still cool. Just NO WHERE near as enjoyable and magical as our kayak experience.

Hola Cassie que bueno que visitaron las parguera ese lugar es bello y me encanta mucho yo le e visitado 3 veses y me fascina el lugar de lo bello y bien que se pasa tengo que volver de nuevo ,es que me queda un poco lejos ,pues soy del pueblito de Corozal ,ese tablado es nuevo ?que bello está el niño👦 y grasioso ,yo pienso el 14 de este mes septiembre irme para Orlando Fl:por unos meses con mi hija pero como la isla 🌴 no hay nada mejor para disfrutar y pasarla bien ,sigan con su interesante video,chao ,cuidesen,Dios los bendiga🙏😘👍.

I love all your videos, but this one is very special to me since Lajas is my hometown. Did you get to visit Playita Rosada? A lot of good food, cold beverages like piña colada, piraguas, sangría....and beautiful views in La Parguera. Nothing better than the Island life. It has some downsides and disadvantages but, oh boy, it's more of a refreshing, simple, happier lifestyle. Saludos desde TX!
Saludos! No, we didn't go to Playa Rosada because they say it is in disrepair right now unfortunately. But we loved our time in La Parguera and I want to see more of the cayos some time!

I have a question if is possible to know. How much did the Bio Bay tour cost? I’ve being calling their phone number and looking for prices online but nothing. Thanks for loving my beautiful island 🥰.

Hi Katherine. We went on Fondo de Cristal to Mata La Gata and Gina and Johnnys for the Bio Tour. They were both $10 pp.
Do you have to bring what you want to eat/or drink to Mata La Gata, or can you buy stuff there?
Hi guys! There is nothing to buy there (at least not when we were there), so bring a cooler and everything you need to be comfortable. There are bathrooms and changing rooms, picnic tables, but no real commerce unless you bought a beer from someone else haha.

My primo has a casita en La Parguera! He is there almost every weekend. I bet you passed close to it. jaja! My uncle...his dad owned it since the early 70's. We used to visit when we were little until I was 10 when we moved to the states. I was little and thought the whole world was Puerto Rico. It should be! : D

BUT.... 'Parguera'.....let's see if I can put it in written form.....
'PAR'----you want to run the R just a little bit not to much......'rrr'...like saying/pronouncing in english the term........'on par'....but run the RR just a tiny bit.....
Then....the 'GUE' in parGUEra.....(pronounce the 'GUE' like ...... 'GET' ..in english but take out the letter T). U is silent.
.....then....RA......the R does not run here... ......so is a short RA. Not RAH...like rah rah rah....but a short quick....'RA'

No the plant it’s not named mata la gata it’s just the name if the island the plants are called mangles.
According to some stories, there was a cat in the "matas" - in the plants. Most of the plants are mangroves/mangles.
Do you mind telling me how old your kids are. I'm traveling with my son who is 19 months and I am getting different info about getting tested myself so he doesn't have to quarantine. Me and my wife are vaxxed. I can send you my email if you don't want to share this info with everyone. Thank you
Our little guy is 3 years old. I haven't traveled off and back to the island during this whole pandemic but they change the rules about every 2 weeks lol so it's hard to keep up.
So they didn't care at all about my son who is under two years old. Never asked for me or my wifes negative covid test bc we are vaxxed
