I've had mine probably 6 months. It's survived all weather types. Mud, flash flood rains, hard knocks, recoil through thousands of rounds. Everything seems pretty spot on other than the cable. Potted electronics. Decent threads. Good seals. It's just the cord is a little flimsy feeling but I taped it out of the way and tight so it's fine.
Great video, Ive built several MK18 and Block II clones in the past and they get expensive when you are using clone correct parts. After burning $2000+ on these builds I've decided to build another MK18 CQBR SBR but this time on a budget. Still using good parts from DD,Colt..etc but instead of spending $200 on a KAC Flip up sight and $300+ on a surefire scout I decided to go this route. Picked up a chinese knock off for less than 40 bucks and found a company who makes knock off KAC front sights for $15. Just in those 2 items that are more for looks I saved myself almost $500.
Late to the party, but FYI, Surefire light caps and tail caps are made in China, in the same factories as the clones, then shipped and assembled in the USA. The clones are actually the run overs from the surefire production lines. This is why the China clones are so realistic.
I have 2 scout 600 sotac gear mounted on a 12 G shotgun and one on a ar15. No issues yet after hundreds of rounds. Sotac makes pretty solid lasers also. My knock off perst 4 is still holding solid after 2 years.
Caleb Downing I know you said the momentary press function was backwards but have you tried that with a different tail cap? Or different pressure switch ?
I have not. The only supplied pieces I have are the "clicky tail cap" and the tape switch. I tried to put my real surefire tail cap on my the thread pitch is different.
Mine runs beautiful, its now on my truck/shtf battle rifle, i think i have 1500 round with the light on it and the light still nice a bright and just as new as i took it out of the box!!
@CalebDowning is you're light still holding up?!? So far I have heard nothing but great reviews from this light, only thing I have heard was the cap with the button on it can be a little wonky.
@tony4metallicaify So mine is toast now. I’ve had it since making this video but in 2023 it finally but the dust. I swapped tail caps and batteries so it’s the light itself that died. It’s fine as a causal range light or something for posting IG pictures. But I wouldn’t trust it as a work light.
@ caleb downing i jave the SF chinese m300v and the tailcap button does do a momentary when just lightly pressing it without having to turn it on first then do a strobe or momentary on off. My clone is soo close to the real deal its scary lol

I thought you bought a full priced sure fire but got a knock off, that's the kind of video I am looking for. If you paid $30 for a flashlight you're going to get a $30 flashlight.
Sorry for the delay 🤦♂️ This light has worked about 85% of the time. I have used multiple switches and most of them worked. Currently the light is dead. I’m trying to assess if it’s a battery connection issue or if the head finally gave out.
You gotta keep in mind that these lights are made as toys. If you want one as a “prop” or just to see how you like the look of the light then these ones are fine. If you want a lit that will work reliably on an actual rifle then I’d go with Streamlight for a budget option or perhaps Surefire/Modlite/Arisaka for a higher end option.
I took the clone light off its mount to see and it did mount to a real SureFire mount. I do not have the thorn tail mount but if it fits a factory SureFire mount then I would think that it would fit the other aftermarket mounts.

Look into the Streamlight offerings. I’ve got a couple of their rail mount series and currently on them on my “for real” setups. The Chinese knockoffs are a fun toy but I wouldn’t trust them if anything serious was on the line.
Stick with streamlight. Sub $100 and you get a quality light and good tape switch. I use the Protac Rail Mount HL-X on my bedside gun and a Rail Mount 1 on another rifle.

How about some beard grooming tips? My god that thing is dare I say Chris Costa status lol Wondering how the light holds up over time, I have a mini scout on one of my rifles and it takes a lot of abuse from my muzzle brake and still holds up.
Haha, I wouldn't put myself up anywhere near Mr. Costa's beard but thanks. As far as the light goes, I have only heard good things about the reliability of the SF Scout lights. I don't have the highest expectations for this ~$35 light but I'll give it a fair test in the name of science.
