제가 좋아하는 작가 Lois Ehlert의 그림책 In My World입니다.
이 책을 읽을때마다 작가의 표현력에 감탄하고, 자연의 아름다움에 감사하는 마음을 가지게 됩니다.
아이의 작은 손 안에 지구가 있습니다. 아이들이 바라보는 세상은 어떨까요? 곤충, 벌레, 개구리, 조개, 새, 물고기 등 아이들에게 친숙한 것들을 작가는 강렬한 원색의 종이를 파서 표현하고 있습니다.
책을 펼치면 어떤 사물을 수식하는 형용사가 나오고 그것이 무엇인지 짐작할 수 있는 간단한 실루엣이 보입니다. 다시 한 장을 넘기면 전에 나왔던 사물과 아름다운 색깔의 새로운 것을 볼 수 있는 재미를 느낄 수 있습니다.
마지막 장에는 책에 나오는 모든 사물들이 그림으로 표현된 시가 나옵니다. 이 책을 통해서 자연에 대한 아이들의 사랑을 공유할 수 있지요. 아이들과 함께 아름다운 자연의 세계에 빠져 보세요.
