Again, I have to comment once more on how amazing and PHENOMENAL this entire show was, and unless you were around L.A. at the time, you have no idea the scope of what it took to even get in that day's taping. At the time, there was no ticketing. You stood in line for hours to get the ticket to make it in. And for this taping, people camped out the night before to take their place in line. And yes, Madonna was at her absolute BIGGEST at this point in her career, having gone through the Pepsi scandal with her Like A Prayer video, and her new movie and subsequent fling with Warren Beatty, and not to mention getting ready to launch one of the biggest world tours that year for Blonde Ambition. It was insane! And although I didn't make it for this taping, I finally did on her next appearance two years later when she was promoting A League Of Their Own. We stood in line for eight hours for that and made it in. It was NUTS!
I was able to get into the taping of this episode because I worked with a girl who was interning on the show and she hooked a few of us up! I was seventeen years old and I will never forget this afternoon.
I have been looking for this clip for years! I'm in the audience, and get to shake her hand just a couple people before she walks back onto the stage. I will never forget this!
I tried to get into that taping and was a near impossible feat. And what a show that when it aired that night. I eventually got in to the the one when she was with Rosie, promoting A League Of Their Own.
I'm glad this section of Madonna's appearance on Arsenio FINALLY got posted. It took a long time. I'm thinking I'm the only one who had the whole show taped off the air on that day in 1990, but not anymore. This appearance of hers was huge. HUGE! And judging from the audience reaction, it truly was as the anticipation of her movie Dick Tracy was at a fever pitch along with her biggest concert tour yet.
Legendary & Iconic appearance at such a magical time in Madonna's career! That sort of popularity and star quality just isn't around like that anymore! There was no star in the world quite like her and this was Madonna at her best!!!!
Funny thing is that Jennifer Lopez did the same thing when she was a guest on Lopez Tonight back in 2009 or ‘10 I believe. Now I see where they could have gotten the idea from.. Arsenio and Madonna.. Where it all began!!
Now I see why Arsenio turned the tables on her at her next appearance (1992). When he genuinely shocked Madonna by bringing out her father (surprise!) to sit next to her and Rosie O'Donnell...and dad dished a little on his famous daughter. A very cute example of "one good turn, deserves another!"
I wondered for a moment if the whole thing was staged but, knowing her, probably not because that is SUCH a Madonna thing to do! (though Arsenio was clearly happy to let her do it) :-D This turned out to be one of her most entertaining show appearances ever. She and Arsenio had great chemistry and really bounced off each other.
At first when Madonna stole Arsenio Hall's INTRO for his TALK SHOW SEEMED HUMOROUS, In RETROSPECT what Madonna did on Hall's TALK SHOW was F****D UP!!!

that's pretty cool...what did she look like in person?
@@tosomt5419 Pure Hollywood glamour. It was like she was dusted in gold and glided down the stairs. The look on my 17 year old face says it all 🤣
The audience went wild
Yes we did! I will never forget this taping.
