"Anti-social" is one of the most misused and overused words around. Anti-social does not equate to introvertedness. In psychology, anti-social denotes someone who would be classified as a sociopath, having anti-social personality disorder. Not someone who wears black and likes to be left alone sometimes.
To be fair, with the "metalhead = satanist" stereotype, you could still argue that some people equate metal to antisocial behavior. But yes, the term is way too misused by society. Alas, I don't see that changing anytime soon...
@@poserdisposer6460 That term is dependent on variable dialectics, as it can also carry the same connotation as antisocial. But from a clinical perspective that's far more accurate and akin to introvertedness than an outright narcissistic lack of empathy. On the contrary, introvertedness often stems from a heightened sense of empathy. Having an intense awareness to the emotions of strangers and peers can be overwhelming to those individuals, so they seek to isolate themselves, rather than deal with the anxiety of sensory overload.
I think metalheads are some of the nicest people out there, it's just some people tend to have the wrong idea about them. Metalheads tend to be happy and social people anyway
@@Grim_reviews ye, looks don't define a person, most people judge things they know nothing about, so they follow by the stereotypes, and refuse to open their mind. Just like most people, I'll respect those who respect me
@@Axxa3095 it's not just my looks but I'm still in highschool (born in 03) and I play music on a Bluetooth speaker. The real shit not the pop or rap people listen to and they insult me. I just flip them off
@Petrazenka very true. Someone did say once that I seem chill but they're afraid of me bc of the metal. But, the metal will live on and by gorgorth,I will make sure to love it forever
@Petrazenka I was scared of bands like iron maiden and Metallica. I knew some songs but I preferred hair metal and the not so heavy stuff. Then middle school hit and I just fell in love and in the beginning of tenth grade,my love just grew
Being both a metalhead and on the autism spectrum, I've had that stereotype thrown at me a few times, and you explained the term antisocial in its proper definition (they must also have it confused with asocial, which can be more fitting for people who just are a bit non social but struggle to be social, sometimes the two words are used interchangeably, both can be attributed to bad experiences or what have you), and yea there are some so called "metalheads" and non metalheads out there that do exhibit antisocial tendencies, sometimes it's either real or a front. A lot of this could be remedied if people actually looked up these terms and their meanings...if anything I realized I'm social when I need to be/want to be and other times I just keep to myself, so I'm more ambiverted and selectively social. If anything, lack of knowledge and sweeping generalizations are the cause of these misunderstandings.
It happens that my older brother is Asperger (part of the autistic spectrum) and my mom and little brother (in the middle child) have used the word "antisocial" to describe him, when actually he is very social on his own way: he says hi and goodbye to everyone, asks how they are, looks people in the eye, but it has been a long process, he's 22 and the attitude of a 13 y-o (not in the bad way). I have been also tagged antisocial on a negative context because I didn't want to hang out with my family but back then I was dealing with a long history of depression, Ed's, anxiety, self-harming, and socializing was too much for me. My older brother is a quiet person and me, I'm just an introvert, I'm still a shy person even with people who do know me.
I have Asperger's and I love metal. I became a metal head in 1991 at the age of 12. My dad was not happy. A few of the kids at school didn't like it. I remember when I was 18 and taking a drivers ed class and one kid called me a devil worshipper. I didn't care. The churches have lost and so have the soccer moms/PTO's. Metal is victorious.
I worked at a movie theater from 1986 (I got hired the day Cliff Burton died) until 1990. In 1988 I got a friend a job at the theater. Employees asked him how he got the job he replied that he and I were friends. They replied that they thought I was anti-social and my friend said "He's not anti-social, he just doesn't like you people."
I'm a metalhead, and I just happen to be introverted and antisocial in a sense, not in like a crazy sadistic criminal minds kind of way. I am because a lot of people don't like what I'm into so they shun me out and look at me weird so I kind of just stay to myself. I will talk to other metalheads, some metalheads are nice, and some are just douche bags. I've been a metalhead for over a decade, and I've had no friends ever since I got into metal, but I love what I love and people can dislike what I like, but don't hate the person...😒
Well being a introvert metalhead I tend to keep to myself and mind my own business and tend to stay in and blast some brutal death metal it's a simple and peaceful way of living.
Hello fellow metalhead. I'm a metalhead. I've been a metalhead for over a decade. I like most of the bands you have in your channel description. Also you should check out Archspire- Human Mumuration and Spawn of Possession- Apparition.
I caught this a lot back in the day, mostly during high school. Truth is, I've made a shit load of close friends through metal. At the end of the day, most people suck, just do you.
We are just the most laid back people out there. Please non-metalheads, don't judge us on what we ware or how most of us look like. Step forward to us and begin this conversations. Ask things and come to the conclusion that we aren't that bad🤘
Exactly, I don't wear the typical metal outfit because I want to scare people away, but because I love it when people start talking to me on the street, at work or whatever because they like the same band. And I'll do exactly the same when I see someone in a shirt of a band I like. Those are most often just brief interactions, but it always makes my day and it kinda gives me the feeling of belonging to a community. In reality, wearing bandshirts is just a great way to make friends, so it's exactly the opposite of what the general public assumes it's supposed to be.
When anyone claims that someone has "antisocial" behavior just bc they are alone or dont socialize much, they dont know the definition of antisocial behavior
I myself am far from anti-social... and funnily enough, even though people back at school used to not see why I liked metal/ were kind of freaked out by it... they would still join me in screaming SLAYEEEEER!!
@@putridabomination in high school I was bullied non stop for liking metal. People would call me a creep, a weirdo, and other lovely titles. So I just ignored them for a while, until one day a gang approached me when I was walking back from school, and they threatened to beat me up, and this one little shit called Jason started it, so I tried to walk away because that was the wise thing to do, but they cornered me, and jason hit me, so I fought back and broke Jason's nose. That was probably one of the very few times I used jujitsu in self defence, but still, no one should let themselves be walked on
I totally agree with you. Being a Metalhead doesn't mean you are anti-social and the examples you gave are 100% on point. P.S.: Sacramentum are amazing and I think that Swedish Black Metal is one of the best things that happened to music ever!
I’m a high school student and I believe its solely based on appearance. I have never been accused of being antisocial and I attribute that to me being dressed “normally”. The same goes for my metalhead friends. When people find out I listen to metal (especially some of the more brutal stuff) they’re pretty surprised but they don’t treat me any differently after that. Although people tell me to turn it off if I put it on the aux lmao.
I'm a 16 yo girl and people often tell me I'm 'anti-social' and depressive and that I don't have any friends just cuz I don't like what most of the people at my school do and I don't try enough to fit in. Even my mum (she's a Christian and hates metal, she thinks this is what makes me being depressed and anxious or smth. She even got rid of my cds, most of my posters and some of my 'most offensive' t shirts. And my battle jacket of course). To be honest, I did have some mental issues, but they were unrelated with metal. In fact, I started feeling that way before listening to metal. And metal helps me with my feelings and shit, it makes me feel way better, so I don't get how my mum does this to me. Finally, I gotta say that yes, I'm an introvert, I only enjoy having only a few real friends, who kinda get me and have some things in common. Right now, I don't really have anyone to talk to, at least in person. It's sad, ik. Like, I just moved to another town, to a new school and the quarentine started. Well, nvmd. Probably nobody cares about this crap, right? Hahaha Bye bye and stay BRVTAL 🤘🏻 (I really love your videos! Greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹)

In every "community" of life, there are extraverts and introverts; metalheads are no exception. I'm kind of in between the two where I do like to socialize with other people but I also enjoy my personal space as well. Some people including myself can be social within our circles but not much for small talk with people we don't know that well. I think a lot of it is just balance and how I'm feeling on that day.
i have had several people go to me, "that's an awesome shirt" and i have had people ignore me for what im wearing as i don't quite fit into the group but im not bothered. if someone wants to know me then they can do so as im not an anti social person.
At every concert and festival I’ve ever been to, I have always, ALWAYS come away from it with at least one new metal friend. Just because we don’t wanna talk to the mainstreamers doesn’t mean we’re anti-social!
I'm not even nearly an introvert or shy or as they call it "anti social", I usually find people around me pathetic and ignorant, why would I feel shy or insecure being near those people? I'm rather misanthropic.
I'm a metalhead. I joke about being anti-social but really I'm an introvert. If somebody talks to me, I'll talk to them. It does make me anxious but I get over it.
I feel that metalheads, like everyone, have the capability of being antisocial, but arent inherently so. It's sort of just a stereotype. Honestly I became far more social when I started going to shows and meeting people in the beer garden or at the bar or in the pit or what have you (I suffer from social anxiety and sometimes have difficulty socialsing in a normal way) and people are super chill. Looking at gigs, it's a bunch of people hugging and drinking and headbanging together. As you mentioned, I can sort of see why someone not in the scene would feel that metalheads have some antisocial bias (and some of the more violent lyrical value may not help, when you can't look past that) but that sort of attitude largely stops where the music does, which is perhaps not evident. I've experienced so many times in public people who say something along the lines of "oh you wouldn't be interested in talking to me ahaha" which was sort of saddening tbh, I have heaps of interests as well as friends outside of the metal community. Sorry for the wall of text, great video!!
I'm a metalhead and goth. I've been a metalhead for over a decade. I have sadly never been to a metal show or concert before so I feel really depressed because I am from Boston which doesn't have a metal scene. Boston has a punk and rock scene, but I am the only metalhead in my town. There's a lot of LGBTQ people, It's a diverse town, but nope... no other metalheads besides me. I've met one guy who is 50, I'm 25, but we don't share the same interests in metal subgenres and bands... for instance I love Technical death metal, Metalcore and dsbm. He likes Stoner Metal and High on fire type stuff. He says that he doesn't want to hear the bands I like, and I say the same to him, but we still talk from time to time when I'm walking my dogs, and he's walking his dogs. But there are barely any metal shows that come to Boston... at least that I have knowledge of. I do like goth rock as well. Bauhaus, Christian death and Sisters of mercy are in the top three when it comes to goth rock.. oh and O Children as well. Anyways have a great day.
@@thelastdaybreathinginetern1385 Wow I've never heard of a town with only two metalheads, there are hundreds and hundreds of us where I live, many with different tastes!! I'm sorry to hear that. Goth bands are great, Light Asylum for example I found in recent years & absolutely LOVE THEM.. have a great day yourself!! (=
I feel every word you just said, but I say now that I'm here then I'm going to waste my life away, but I'm going to do it in a fun way. I'm a metalhead. I've been into metal for over a decade. That is the only thing I hold on to. When I feel threatened or afraid, or if someone is trying to bother me I just turn on some death metal and ignore everyone. Check out these bands if you are up to it... Loathe- A Sad Cartoon, I let it in and it took everything, Screaming Archspire- Human Mumuration, A Dark Horizontal, Calamus will Animate Northlane- Jinn, 4-D, Eclipse, Rift, and Sleepless. I cannot tell you how many times people told me they were shocked after they got to know me a little, because according to them I look like someone who doesn't like socializing, smiling, etc. People are always surprised by my personality vs the way I look. I've gotten used to it in the 21 years of being a metalhead, but yeah, it definitely is a misconception that all metalheads are anti social. Another thing is when people get to know me, most of them automatically assume that my husband is a huge metalhead, looking like a Viking (really, I heard that so many times). And again they're suprised when they find out that my husband listens to American rap from the 90's and doesn't have any tattoos or piercings. He does listen to some metal, but he's not into BM as much, which is my favorite genre.
i use to be way more anti social before i listened to metal (people even thought i was autistic). but after i started listening to metal i think i became way more social (i dont think its related tho), but idk i just think most people on my school arent too interesting, since they dont even play any games besides online games while im more of a solo games guy (besides for honor and no mans sky). i actually met and aproached a lot of people i saw where metalheads and im still friends with most. just wanted to share, and strike up a conversation.
Brojob. You should check out a band called Archspire- Human Mumuration. Well Farewell after you hear that band. I've been listening to Archspire for two years straight every. Single. Day. *I never blank when I listen to them*
I'm a metalhead and I am really nice, but I live in a town with close to no metalheads. Not really even punk rockers where I'm from, but there are more punk rockers than metalheads where I live. I get judged on the spot from norms, and I have grew introverted and antisocial behaviours due to the lack of no other metalheads but me.. I mostly get stank face looks from women, it's kind of annoying, but I say that is what happens when your not following the mainstream crowd.
The Last Day Breathing In Eternal Snow I’m not a metalhead myself and my town is completely devoid of metalheads. My boyfriend and most of his friends are metalheads. He is your typical black band t-shirt wearing, full bearded, long haired, tattooed guy. Whenever he comes out to visit me he scares my 88 year old neighbor just by his appearance. I think she thinks he’s some sort of Satan worshipping child sacrificer. He’s a shy and sweet person.
I do believe that most of us Metalheads tend to be the person with the least friends in our social circle. We got to understand that we enjoy certain things that other people simply dont even consider normal and its true that in a way or another we kind of scare them away, if they see you with a shirt full of blood, inverted crosses etc etc even though they might not hate you for it they will undesrtand that you like stuff that they dont so they will think that you tend to have fewer friends with the same tastes.
The whole evil & anti social terms comes from some non metal fans and trust me there are many countries where there is no Metal genre or is extremely underground I myself am from Pakistan here even if someone has Long hair most people in colleges or Universities looks at it as a sign of evil or anti social guy and would simply ask you to get a haircut cause of their cultural values being a Metalhead here is very hard as there are no concert barely any fans, Barely any people who are even aware the genre some of em listen to pop (While others being religious considers music to be evil itself) so I myself even at my best trying to explain these people if they ever ask why I have long hair or wear weird shirts would simply tell me (You're a citizen of this state and follow this culture and not any western related style from listening to metal to trying to get a girlfriend which is considered evil again as PDA/ Public love is banned itself go google it) so I've been very lonely but gladly thanks to Metal I've meet sooo many good friends from around the world online who I talk about Metal, Gaming, Tv shows or any other stuff on the internet people I thought I'd never meet only a couple of years ago but I did and it's awesome and honestly I feel very confident too Metal is an excellent genre with people who knows how to appreciate great music which is art in itself. #Metal4Ever
I'm a metalhead from the U.S., I'm so glad to hear your story. You are awesome. Continue to stay metal! Evil, and good are vast words. Before we came into the world we live in today we didn't know about good and evil, Satan or God, Heaven or Hell. Or that we would all die eventually one day. The people calling you evil are in no way good themselves. Evil is an action and thought like, hurting someone. If you have done none of those things, and you are just being and doing what you love, then they have no right to harrass you. There is so much to explain, but no you won't go to hell. Hell is a state of mind, not a actual burning place of lava. Heaven is what we create. I study a lot about the afterlife and reincarnation, stuff like that, but dude... you are amazing as I said, and have a great day.
Being a Metalhead back in the 80's was hard, everyone hated your guts, eventually I found peace in being anti-social. And why not, people suck, somewhere along the way it became cool for my generation to be stupid, no thanks. But this quarantine, social distancing, I like it, get the F outta my personal space.
I work at a Charley's Philly steaks in my local mall. I've been there for 2 yrs going on 3 over the years I've seen many ppl come and go. some last a week while others stay for months on end or even years. In all my time there I can say that I truly bonded with one and only one person; My friend Manny. Over the years I've met many people and for the exception of three I can say that I've built a decent working relationship with all of my co-workers thus far, however Manny was something entirely different. He wasn't just my coworker, he was my ally, my friend, the older brother I always wanted but never got. We came from 2 different towns and walks of life and yet somehow through the magic of the fast food industry or perhaps dumb luck our paths crossed at Charlie's... nevertheless I'm grateful for the time we spent together. Its rare for me to encounter another metalhead/punk in the real world much less have the pleasure of working alongside them for most of my days. I still remember closing with him and blasting Dethklok, The Misfits, Dio, etc. as I wash the dishes, and watching Bloodfeast and Joe Bob on his Shudder account on the work computer on our breaks. He's gone now and most of the others that worked with him have long since forgotten him, he is but a shadow of a bygone age, a legend known only to a few but not me, I'll never forget. The bond we forged is thicker than blood. He lives on within my memories. To Manny wherever you are, I hope you & the fam are doing great bro, keep up the hard work and stay safe! 🍻🤘🎸
Yeah that's sadly a huge misconception we have to deal with every day. Here's my story if anybody is interested in reading it: Ever since I was a little kid, I have been into weird things. My parents raised me as a very outdoorish kind of person. In the last 5 years I have started doing some "weird things" like collecting mushrooms, fishing, walking in the forest and so on. Sadly this didn't really help the connection between me and the average guys in my age. Also my father has showed me his favourite bands like Radiohead, Pink Floyd, which I've really enjoyed. These outstanding bands led to a black/death/thrash metal kind of music taste, which also didn't help on me xD. I've always lived a very asocial life, I don't have any friends, that's why I am being called as "anti-social" between my classmates. I used to hate this part of my life but now I don't really give a shit about what does the others say and I enjoy my life very much lately, and I've found my true love, she's a metalhead and a very cute girl also :). I have been playing guitar for more then 2 years now by the way, it really gives a special boost to my life. I will also do a one man black metal project, that means that I have some very special topic for the music I will make based on my interests. Oh, I forgot to mention I'm 16 if anybody has wondered. Anyway, that was just my two cents. Huge thanks to anyone who read my little story. Stay metal, stay br00tal.
As a metalhead I don't consider myself introverted or antisocial at all, I'll gladly talk to anyone who approaches me, it might take time for me because I suffer from Asperger's Syndrome, but besides that I try my best to be extroverted as long as they're respectful to me we're good.
I'm not only metal aspie. But i don't really "suffer" so i'm "antisocial". I don't understand people and i'm bit weird, but if someone disrespect this i disrespect that person, i don't care about his life
For me I just don't like having fake conversations at work customers hate me because I don't talk but I don't want to I especially don't want to pretend like I care about you or anything you have to say. My coworkers are great at pretending I'm not and I don't want to be. If I talk to you I want it to be because I genuinely want to. So I'll push people away because I find it exhausting being around people I have no interest in.
Wow as a metalhead who is a customer service cashier I know exactly how you feel omg. I always feel like it's just me. I live around cemeteries so I walk to work through there to distress instead of taking public transportation. I am the only metalhead at my job most people there are girls talking about their nails, or everyone hates me because I'm a short 5'6 guy who is the only metalhead there so ppl show me that they hate me because I'm not part of the mainstream crowd or circle... I have moments at work where I feel like I could faint or collapse on the ground because of not wanting to be around people. I collapsed on my own one day during a job interview lol.
Salutations! I completely agree with you. I have been into the alternative culture, and metal music since 12 years of age. I have ALWAYS been anti-social against the entirety of the human species. I have always been nihilistic, and misanthropic anyways, keeping myself at a distance from majority of people they are nothing but toxic. You always have to express your independence, be yourself is most important. I am deep into the occult, being a witch practitioner of many years, I dabble with the right hand, and left hand path...people will always have their misconceptions towards us those of us our mind's are free from enslavement. People are narrow minded, as such people think "Demons" and "Ghosts" are evil...in retrospect they are not. I always talk about these things and social issues in my videos...people refuse to understand, and don't understand about anything different unfortunately...though with the conscious shift of our planet that's bound to change...
I can see why they have that presumption. Also to be far I refer to myself and a few friends only for this let me state but I tend to rarely if ever socialize with those who aren’t fellow metal heads. So I think to a point that may also be where that assumption comes from as well as metal heads do commonly tend not to talk, socialize etc with those not into the metal crowd
I'm a metal-head and definitely not Anti-social. I really appreciate when people comment about my metal shirts or long hair. I view other metal-heads as brothers and sisters.
as a metalhead with depression and a hatred towards this wretched world, yes, i'm antisocial, both not by choice and by choice. that choice usually being a coping mechanism that makes me push as many people away from me as possible. to all my metalheads that struggle with mental health problems, stay strong and grind on n shit \m/
I'm a metalhead. I've been a metalhead for over a decade. Every word you said is on point for how I feel as well. The only thing I have is metal.. other than that I want to fall into a coma that kills me than to be here existing in a world that's not built for sensitive, caring people. The world is built on hate for one another, money, Suffering, and heartache.. I lost my cat July 26, 2020.. I miss him everyday. I don’t know why but I would like to have a discussion with black metal werewolf in person, he seems like good guy, discussing music, movies and anything that we have in common
This is such a stupid misconception tbh like normally I'm scared to approach people because my anxiety acts up...but when they have a metal shirt I freaking run over and strike up a convo. Ive always seen usMetalheads as a family and that's the opposite of antisocial
I'm a metalhead and I do the same thing. I don't talk to anyone, but I saw a guy with a Between the buried and me shirt on, and I ran over to him, and a guy with a Dillinger escape plan shirt on, but he looked at me weird because I wasn't wearing a band shirt that day. I'd wear my metal vest but it's way to hot out for that. So I made a metal vest out of a goth button up shirt. 😅
I think as a teenager, I was called anti-social in a literal sense. Meaning that I avoided social interaction and seemed to hate most ppl. So yes, I agree that the word is misused. I used to get so many weird comments from people. I’m older now and try not to stand out too much. Still a metal head though 🤘🏼
I don't consider myself a hardcore metalhead, but it is the type of music I like most. Also as a psychology student I think you said it well. Anti-social behavior is a extreme, some metalheads may be anti-social but anti-socials are not exclusively metalheads. The fact that metal has built a community around it is proof of this. The sense of belonging is one of the most potent drive in humans, that is why it is easier for someone who listens to metal to get along with others who listen metal. Only a matter of group dynamics.
I didn't really consider myself a metalhead until after high school. I've often been described as being quiet since I was little but after I've known someone for awhile I can be a lot more social. I don't care for useless small talk with people I don't know and have nothing in common with.
I do enjoy meeting new people and talking up a storm especially if they are into metal as well. I wouldn't say I'm antisocial, I'm more socially awkward I suppose. And I have RBF and some people I think tend to shy away from me and some don't and find out I'm a very laid back person.
In my experience, metalheads tend to be the realest people around, I've never met a truly passionate metalhead that was antisocial. I also was a very introverted kid, but once I started listening to metal, I opened up pretty well and am now more on the extroverted side
I’m a more introverted person unless i’m with my small group of friends mostly and thats because ive always been singled out for most of my life as the weird kid, maybe thats just cause i have a more introverted personality idk, but i don’t understand people who call me antisocial because of me being a metalhead or the personality i have, while i do have a small group of friends i’m always open to making new friends but even though i usually don’t make a lot of new friends and thats because people look at me wearing my leather jacket and band t shirts and combat boots and black clothing and get weirded out and think i’m a very hostile person when i’m not, and its hard for me to walk up and meet new people because i get very nervous when i’m around people I don’t know, unless there a metalhead, if its a person I don’t know whos a metalhead I’ll almost automatically feel somewhat comfortable around them because metal and rock n roll is just such an easy way for me to connect with someone
I agree with everything you said, I wear black all the time and wear lots of band merch and goto metal gigs Iv bumped into some pretty awesome metalheads along the way, I myself have been yelled so many names for how I dress, have once been yelled at for wearing one my slayer hoodies that says fuckin slayer on the back they are my most favourite metal band 🤘🏻 we ain’t antisocial.
I'm antisocial because I'm on the Autism spectrum. Metal has nothing to do with it. In fact I was a religious Muslim before Metaldom and my social skills improved tremendously when I secularized.
I'm so ready to go to another show right now Last show I went to was a friend's band back in December I wanna do right now is meet some new people And Share my weed And listen to some kick ass music
I often get accused of seeking attention by looking the way I do. Long Hair, black t-shirt, pants and boots, rings, chain, a couple bracelets. My usual response to these statements is, "Yet here I was minding my own business before you walked up."
This is a diff topic but If I listen to other different genres like trap metal, goth, punk, indie(not pop) and other alt shit, am I still a metal head? I mostly enjoy metal the most and a Big black metal fan and Ive seen someone say If u listen to varieties of genres you're not a metal head 🤔🤔
We're not anti social we're just more picky with people. Even most other metalheads I know have fewer but closer friends rather then 20 good for nothing "friends". It's even funnier when me and my friend get compliments like "You are quite nice for a metalhead" and we are like: Why? You think most other metalheads are assholes?? Btw many people get introverted confused with anti social.
I'm a metalhead and I just get weird looks and stares all the time. Some people don't care if you are a metalhead or not and they just want to bother me or fight me.. like wtf? I hate dealing with people. I've been a metalhead for over a decade and I also had to put up with ppl's nonsense for over a decade so I could say, oh your nice for a norm, and they could say oh because you think I'm a judgmental ass who only likes mainstream music and hates outsiders? Well anyways, Stay metal. Can you please check out a band.. Archspire- Human Mumuration.. this band... you'll see.. take care.
I would definitely consider myself anti-social. It used to bother me more when I was a teenager because then it was not out of my own will, but as I became an adult and saw the world I more or less made an active choise to avoid people as much as I can. I don't like people in general but I also tend to dislike most metalheads I've met. Too much bullshit elitism going on, like music listening is some kind of contest or whatever. Zzzz. I've got a few long-time friends since 20 years back, a long-time girlfriend. That's enough for me. I respect other people but give me my space and peace in return. I never cared for people's judgment about my style. If anything it says everything about them and their characters, and it makes them stay away from me. Their opinions will never bother me (since I won't even know about them), nor will they when they believe whatever they want. In my book that's just a way of keeping my life clean from human garbage.
I'm not anti-social I'm socially selective 🤘

Was thinking about this when I saw the video!😂🤟
"Anti-social" is one of the most misused and overused words around. Anti-social does not equate to introvertedness. In psychology, anti-social denotes someone who would be classified as a sociopath, having anti-social personality disorder. Not someone who wears black and likes to be left alone sometimes.
To be fair, with the "metalhead = satanist" stereotype, you could still argue that some people equate metal to antisocial behavior.
But yes, the term is way too misused by society. Alas, I don't see that changing anytime soon...
The correct term is asocial

If anything, lack of knowledge and sweeping generalizations are the cause of these misunderstandings.
mihirmaiden18 same
It happens that my older brother is Asperger (part of the autistic spectrum) and my mom and little brother (in the middle child) have used the word "antisocial" to describe him, when actually he is very social on his own way: he says hi and goodbye to everyone, asks how they are, looks people in the eye, but it has been a long process, he's 22 and the attitude of a 13 y-o (not in the bad way).
Yeah, I say I'm more asocial than anti social. Btw I'm also a Metalhead on the spectrum so maybe that's got something to do with it.
@@cybersaint3895 stereotypes just got in line with you,lol
You're totally right, our openness makes us more social than what society is used to.
I’m social but I hate people, rather chill with my cat
Same here dude. I'd rather hang out with my cat too lol
I think it depends on the mindset of certain metalheads, but usually I don't speak unless I'm spoken to.
Hello fellow metalhead. I'm a metalhead. I've been a metalhead for over a decade. I like most of the bands you have in your channel description. Also you should check out Archspire- Human Mumuration and Spawn of Possession- Apparition.
I don't want to shut myself away from society. Just away from the mindless drones that make up the bulk of it.
Always on point. Not many Metal Heads are antisocial but just not social or introverted

Its blown out of proportion. Metal is social . We socialize with other metalheads before metal shows and such .I totally agree
Still don't know what song is it in the intro :P
In every "community" of life, there are extraverts and introverts; metalheads are no exception. I'm kind of in between the two where I do like to socialize with other people but I also enjoy my personal space as well. Some people including myself can be social within our circles but not much for small talk with people we don't know that well. I think a lot of it is just balance and how I'm feeling on that day.
Well said, I couldn't agree more. Because sometimes to much socializing isn't good, to much of anything isn't good.
i have had several people go to me, "that's an awesome shirt" and i have had people ignore me for what im wearing as i don't quite fit into the group but im not bothered. if someone wants to know me then they can do so as im not an anti social person.
I know i am but its mainly from social anxiety. I got from isolation and not "fitting in" at a young age.

Over the years I've met many people and for the exception of three I can say that I've built a decent working relationship with all of my co-workers thus far, however Manny was something entirely different. He wasn't just my coworker, he was my ally, my friend, the older brother I always wanted but never got. The Last Day Breathing In Eternal Snow I’m a HUGE Mushroomhead fanboy. I even have my own mask 😆
Yeah that's sadly a huge misconception we have to deal with every day.
Here's my story if anybody is interested in reading it:
Ever since I was a little kid, I have been into weird things.

As a metalhead I can agree with you. I talk at my job because I do customer service, but that's it.
I have another Helheim album called Heiðindómr ok motgangr, it's pretty damn good as well.
I have 5 dogs, but I'm going through a lot.. *sigh* I can't wait to die, and see my cat friend again. Anyways stay metal and thank you.
@@thelastdaybreathinginetern1385 dude i get you. i'm sorry for your cat, he's probably rockin out in the afterlife there waiting patiently so see his bud. when it comes to life, i pretty much have none, except for metal and something like 3-4 friends that i'm not as close with as i used to be. i too can't wait to fuckin die, i just hope death doesn't mean a reincarnation back into this world, but i don't know, i ain't religious. i hope you stay strong and push on to something that brings you joy. death is always close but you never know when, so i say for now keep breathing and await the sweet release. stay brutal and grind on for the rest of your life man, don't matter how long it will last, metal lasts forever, especially in our soul. \m/
Dude your tank top looks cool what band is it
I'm a Metalhead and I have to admit i'm a anti social
It’s always great when as a metalhead, you’re out in public and out of nowhere...another metalhead spots you🤘
I don't consider myself a hardcore metalhead, but it is the type of music I like most. Only a matter of group dynamics.
in my case, YES
Why do ppl think i m antisocial..... *starts playing I hate people by GG Alin*
I didn't really consider myself a metalhead until after high school. I've often been described as being quiet since I was little but after I've known someone for awhile I can be a lot more social. I don't care for useless small talk with people I don't know and have nothing in common with.
I am a metal fan to as you are a great song is by a german band zed yago the .blackbone song not sure if you heard it greets from Liverpool UK
6:00 dude! tell it to the 70's punks or 80's metalheads , it became normal only after they couldn't do anything about it
So they just give up 😁
No just depends on who wants to be social... i feel more comfortable at a metal concert than i do in a small group..
First comment. Love the videos you make
I always been an introvert, I'm kind of new to metal i been more distant from others because my own personal issues that wish i didnt have.
Don’t you just love when people a label on people depending on how they look and dress. Definitely can relate.
I have a antisocial patch on my battle vest
Is it just hangover from the satanic panic in the 1980's i have awsome metal friends we are realy social
Yes we are! We're anti, we're anti-social.. \m/💀\m/
Antisocial? I mean, I'm kind of an introvert, but I don't think they're the same thing.
as a metalhead, yes yes we are
Indeed
@Corerok895 True. If someone doesn't feel like talking people will throw around the word antisocial or introverted.
METAL4 LIFE yupp. i usually keep to myself a lot, but that’s mainly bc people in my town are kinda boring
Corerok895 bro it was a joke. it wasn’t that deep
Corerok895 yeah i’ve seen a number of pretty dumb comments
I think there's all kinds of metalheads ( social and antisocial)!!!
Just like there's all kinds of people in general
@@Axxa3095 exactly!!!
A lot yeah. Unless it’s at a show or something every single one of my metal friends is anti social. Being anti social is awesume.
I'm a metalhead, and I am very social. I know a lot of other metalheads that are as well.
I’m a metalhead and I am anti social but I’ve dealt with social anxiety even before I listened to metal
I would say Im socially awkward
Love your background
