Hahaha Love it !! "steal their women folk!"..Love your page please keep us posted on the CITES feudal tax...Cause that's what all these F-in taxes are.
You can dull and age that chrome with muriatic acid vapors. Put some acid in a small open top container and suspend the part over it inside of a larger air tight container. Let it sit in there until it gets the patina you're after.
Motsenbockers paint remover for the the Gibson falcon. I pick it up from Home Depot. Used it for my Univox 1501 and matching 1512 two 15 cab. Works wonders. It doesn't harm tolex so I assume it won't effect the grill cloth.
Hi Guitologist, I'm a sub to your channel & of course Uncle Doug. I believe in one of his videos, he said CTS, I think Chicago telephone supply, became Eminence speakers located in Eminence Kentucky. I would definitely be interested in a Theramin video, explaining the operation and key components. I know they work using capacitance from the players hand(s). Quite the collection. Take care, C.
+Cass Virgillo I did make a longer video of that theremin, but I didn't go into much detail on how it works. Maybe one of these days Doug will build one and explain that to me. :)
i think the pocket bass looks cool the way it is, just clean it up and get the bridge and the electronics al going, i would love to buy that if it showed up on my local craigslist!
Hey, It's Jackie Russel. Love seeing all the straps you got. Love the cool old Metronome. Lots of cool stuff... I'm wondering how much of that you had to move when it came time to move. Thanks for the tour. How about that old tortoise shell look on that Kay. That's very cool. agh,,,watch out it could be a brown recluse. Thanks for sharing Brad... Really cool place.
Looks like some good 9X9 resilient flooring in that basement gotta love that good potentially asbestos containing stuff! Used to help with building inspections so got good at ID'ing potential problems. But like you said with rear panels of old amps it won't hurt you unless you mess with it and it gets in the air. Keep up the awesome channel!
Yet another tip: Testors Dull-Cote lacquer spray on chrome will convert it to a dull aluminum finish. Very easy to adjust a metals finish to match old metal.
"I read the news today, oh boy, Guitar center just closed it's doors, although the news was rather sad, well I just had to laugh, they were done for tax...."
"A day in the Life... I read the news today oh boy.. Gibson was bought by some Chinese firms and although the news was rather sad after 100 years they had to close but not before HJ got his stock option cash they both were done for tax...." I read the news today, oh boy Four hundred thousand worthless bonds and more And though some bonds were rather small They had to count them all Now they know how many Gibson bonds.... it takes to fill the Albert Hall....
Love the Univox HR-2 semi hollow. I had one that had a snapped neck repair sometime before I got it and the pickups were crap so I swapped in some Dragonfire Screamer humbuckers. The 3 way switch stopped working and I swapped in a 3 way toggle. It didn't play well because I just couldn't get it set up correctly.
Def want to see that SG get worked on and how it sounds. Can't wait to see the next one - you have so much cool stuff - its like being in a toy store where you own all the toys and dunno which one to play with :)
Dangg you have good taste! That Kent looks a lot like my Burns 12-string without the segmented pickguard. Does it have a "wild dog" out of phase pickup knob? Interesting binding down the middle of the side of it. Kudos to you sir, I'm way too ADD for a job like this.
Here's a radical idea which might might come as a surprise to some. Don't sand it down to match the existing Bigsby PLAY IT. Here's another idea POLISH the crappy Bigsby .
Interesting view into the inner sanctum.. Curious, can you tell us how you come across this older, less known brand name gear? you do flea markets? CL etc?
+ContraBand Joe Flea markets, antique malls, yard sales, estate sales, auctions, etc. A lot of stuff finds me on trades and from people looking to sell. They know I pay well for the odd stuff.
I'm sure you know the diff. I was just having a hard time imagining why some one would make a part that's going to see such a heavy duty application out of brass.
So did you ever get the 70's SG up and running? I've run across similar issues with new chrome pieces not matching what's on the guitar. I've used rust remover to get the chrome to dull to match.
brad i have a 1960s lowery tube organ w a leslie..has great components..caps..pots..foot pedals ..orig..cloth..i really wanna take the tube circuitry and convert it to a guitar amp..the leslie is orig..and made like a tank..do u think this would be a huge project? also do u have a link or price list or anyplace subscribers can go to buy stuff from u.? love yr info n channel
I love it. Simple as....I f**king love it! I cant get enough! Lol. Never mind Prez Trump Can I please be your apprentice? Pretty please? Im so jelly but in a good way. Lol. ;) Nice one Brad. I dream about vacuum tubes & old tweed. Dust & cobwebs & tube tone!! Dang! Lols. ;) Im like a crackhead for quality old retro gear!! Ha! It dont sound the same unless its covered in old school dust!! I can see my fam doing an intervention soon......keep on it maestro. Big up to your English bird too. She must be an angel to have all that stuff in the house bless you both. X lols. Tom.
When it comes to stupid things we did in the 60's and 70's I'm guilty as charged your honor. The big thing was cutting out the original grill cloth and staple in a tie dyed cotton bed sheet. Yikes! We were all idiots! lol
Yoy are so creative.. I just loveYou point of view. Give a new life on old great models, and give them back to people who can Really appreciate theem all..
Grill cloth paint it black. Maybe the late 60s Stones hit influenced somebody? "I see my Gibson amp instead of a Fender and want to paint it black" I see my red Gibson guitar, instead of a Strat and want it painted black Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts It's not worth trying to play guitar when your whole world is black"
Question about the Fender Super Six Reverb... That's a 100 watt amp right? isn't that way too much power for two original 10 inch speakers? thinking 100 watts would fry those in a new york minute...
+ContraBand Joe Correct. That is why I have not tried to sell that amp in that state yet. Looking for two 16 ohm speakers with 50+ watts each power handling. The amp actually works ok and sounds good at low volume as is. As long as you're not pushing it, the speakers will only see as much wattage as you show them.
Find a job in a music store and soak up everything you can from the guys who work there. Maybe see if you can apprentice with one of your local electronics guys to learn some basic electronics and soldering skills. Tell him you'll do anything - clean up his shop or whatever - if you can shadow him on some repairs.

you're guy with thousands of dollars worth of guitars and amps, and you still go dumpster diving, what a humble guy you are

Another game ill play with your channel...take a shot every time he says "killer". I was drunk 7 videos ago.
that kay is stunning! stuff like that never turns up around here, up in vancouver, not a very old part of the country.
Beautiful tiger stripe tortoiseshell pickguard too, wish they used that more. I'd sure like to hear that Kay.

That white bass actually looked cool even with the messed up paint job. Looked kinda like it was painted custom.

Dude I'd like to learn more about being a guitarologist
Interesting view into the inner sanctum.. Curious, can you tell us how you come across this older, less known brand name gear? you do flea markets? CL etc?
+ContraBand Joe Flea markets, antique malls, yard sales, estate sales, auctions, etc. A lot of stuff finds me on trades and from people looking to sell. They know I pay well for the odd stuff.
That Biltmore's a Kawai...my dad's guitar i grew up sneaking before he passed away; only the body remains now.
Take the arm to the chrome shop and have it de-chromed. I've had this chrome problem with my MC parts, and that's the best way to get rid of it.
this arm is chrome plated brass.
Oh haha. Never mind. you sure that's not copper? I think copper is the first stage of chrome - then nickle and then chrome on top. Good luck.
I'm sure you know the diff. I was just having a hard time imagining why some one would make a part that's going to see such a heavy duty application out of brass.
If you are taking stuff to the chrome shop, why not take the rest of that bigsby and get some nickle plate back on there?
boric acid for just a sec, then leave outside in the rain. a bit of steel wool to match.
So did you ever get the 70's SG up and running? I've run across similar issues with new chrome pieces not matching what's on the guitar. I've used rust remover to get the chrome to dull to match.
Yeah, sold it not long after making this vid.
i think you can soak in vinegar to remove chrome -it would be more realistic
I said the same thing soon as he said sandpaper! Yikes.!.! Anyways hope it worked out for him.?.? But vinegar def does the job 👍
brad i have a 1960s lowery tube organ w a leslie..has great components..caps..pots..foot pedals ..orig..cloth..i really wanna take the tube circuitry and convert it to a guitar amp..the leslie is orig..and made like a tank..do u think this would be a huge project? also do u have a link or price list or anyplace subscribers can go to buy stuff from u.? love yr info n channel
That pile of stuff is really cool, and I thought I had a mess of equipment?
+Frances Nieznay It's a mess...until it's not. :P
true!
I’m not certain about this, but I imagine you could silver plate the bigsby, at home, with much less labor and effort.
I love it. Simple as....I f**king love it! I cant get enough! Lol. Never mind Prez Trump Can I please be your apprentice? Pretty please? Im so jelly but in a good way. Lol. ;) Nice one Brad. The big thing was cutting out the original grill cloth and staple in a tie dyed cotton bed sheet.
Yikes! We were all idiots! lol
I look forward to the vid, if you make it, of that guitar. It's absolutely majestic.
Thanks for the tour of your amp space, Brad. Is it safe to assume that all items are for sale and somewhat negotiable?
+chokkan7 Yes, but this video isn't too recent really. Several weeks old, so I don't still have it all
Omg. That super 6 would be a sight to hear
Yoy are so creative.. I just loveYou point of view. Give a new life on old great models, and give them back to people who can Really appreciate theem all..
Those Hammond L111 spinet organs are excellent old tonewheel organs
Can I come over and visit? I'd love to play guitar through all those amps!
Oh and plastic bristle brushes. Order them from harbor freight if you don't have any around the area.
+Michael Bousquet Thanks for the tips!
Can you tell me where you list your for sale stuff online ?
And your store name
Very cool idea showing off all those great amp/guitar projects! For me it was like watching some amplifier porn or something.
Great stuff. You got some boss gear mate.
what you want to do is use that blue rust paint i saw this guy using on his knife. its not real rust but it will get you that dull finish
Grill cloth paint it black. Maybe the late 60s Stones hit influenced somebody?
"I see my Gibson amp instead of a Fender and want to paint it black"
I see my red Gibson guitar, instead of a Strat and want it painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not worth trying to play guitar when your whole world is black"
Got any Princeton Chorus SS or Ultimate Chorus reasonable priced? Ones I have been finding have the pedal's missing.
No, sorry.
do you sell locally ? reverb? ebay? any links?
Where do you find all these old amos?
First thing I'da thunk of was polishing UP that Bigsby ;-) Am I a philistine.
Do you have a Reverb store
Hey check uncle Doug he had a video where he cleaned a painted grill cover and it came out very nice
And I thought I had a gear problem...I feel so much better now. Lol
UGH... that Kent! I ave oen of those up yeas ago and have hated myself ever since.
can i have that spring and arm for my Synsonics Terminator
Hey quick question from a new sub, where do you get all this stuff?
Love the PUP!!!!
Do you have a specific eBay storefront or site for all the stuff you sell?
You said this stuff was posted, where can i look at the stuff you’ve got for sale??
I have a Reverb account. Not using it right now. If I have stuff for sale I’ll mention in a video.
@@TheGuitologist would love to buy one of those amps some day!!
Great title for a song, "A Day in the Life".

Mommy calls all guitars players in for dinner at some point.
Looks like an original RCA theramine!
Toilet bowl cleaner will dull that chrome fairly quickly
How did you first go about learning how to set up/repair guitars?
Any tips for someone who is looking to start?
Find a job in a music store and soak up everything you can from the guys who work there. Maybe see if you can apprentice with one of your local electronics guys to learn some basic electronics and soldering skills. Tell him you'll do anything - clean up his shop or whatever - if you can shadow him on some repairs.
Never thought of that one! Thanks, big fan of the page
Thanksw Chris! Good luck to you.
dude where do you sell your amps? local shop ? online?
Would you consider selling one of those AO44 chassis?
+Brian Hegge Yeah, probably so. I don't have any I could sell with the tubes though.
Help! What you doing with 12 string Kent? As I need a electric guitar 12 string. Thanks.
The Kent is long gone now, but I have another awesome 60s 12-string electric if you;re interested. It's a Kapa.
How did it work out?
Everytime he says uhm take a shot
Christian M Helms if you were to do that you and me would be drunk off are asses in 5 minutes. LOL.
I have some friends that use his video for that, or maybe he can find a "uhm" meter
Buddy RULES! love the video's but... Buddy definately a Great Star in the making. Please more Buddy. There's another. guy I like he has a Sheep Herder named Rusty. Though my favorite pup of all are Jack Russell style. Awesome stuff you do. But Please More Buddy.
I enjoyed this!
So you do this full time??
that is some cool stuff sir
+wefysan58 Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it.
SO WHAT DID YOU END UP DOIN' THAT DAY? ANY RESULTS
Don't remember. A few of the things in the video were shown in subsequent vids on my channel.
Ah wrong video, I was looking for a day in the life of a gynecologist
How do I find the stuff you're selling? ebay?
Right now my listings do not comprise even 10% of what I have for sale because my time is so crunched right now, no time to list. But you can find my stuff on Craigslist here: louisville.craigslist.org/search/msa?query=773+1103
And as always, if you see something in one of my videos which belongs to me and you're interested, you're welcome to inquire: bradlinzy at gmail
