One of my alltime favourite songs in one of my (many) favourite SG-1 episodes. The perfect mix... I miss SG-1. Luckily they still air reruns in Sweden.
I've seen a lot of sci-fi TV shows and I do mean a lot, this is by far my most favorite sci-fi series ever made. Seeing the Asgards choose to end their lives instead of waiting for time to take them and seeing SG-1 be so lonely even though they were together both broke my heart and made me cry my eyes. But seeing them defeat the Ori with the Asgards beam weapon and Carter figuring out a way to save everyone while getting the Ori off their backs made me jump for sheer joy.
God I loved that show. I believe I even had to wipe a tear away during this scene back then because I knew it was all finally over. Not many shows make it 3 seasons. This one did 10.
@@Kronos327 They had in some of the other episodes but of course time reversed or something along those lines and it never actually matured in main show. Did they not do it when Carter and jack split to different dept in series 8? Or did the writers just elude to it?

@@Kronos327 Carter and O'Neill finally had a relationship, it was shown in the end of 8th season when Carter broke up with Pete Shanahan and finally accepted O'Neill's invitation to go fishing to his cabin. In the 9th season one NID agent (who was interested in Samantha) asks how's Carter's relationship's going with Pete. Carter tells "We broke up.", then NID agents asks "So, you are single again?" and Carter replys "not exactly." That means they finally had a relationship, but it wasn't shown on screen.
iuutuube that’s a lot of interpretation there, my friend. It might just mean that she still loves him and now that he loves her but also prioritizes the job because both know it’s what they should do...
Like so many other people, this song is special to me. I watched SG1 and Atlantis during the pandemic for the first time and it was an amazing universe to escape to at the end of the day. When I heard this song come on for the finale it didn’t just bring me to tears, I was crying. This is among the very very short list of shows that had that kind of impact.
I believe I heard somewhere that this episode was partially to let the cast say goodbye in their own ways. Mitchell’s actor had finally got into the swing of things, finally got to know his cast and crew, and was ready for his big arc to hit in season 11, and then it was over, and he was torn up about it. Vala’s was just starting to be a real part of the cast and get a new arc, instead of a glorified reoccurring character, and they took it away from her too, and she just didn’t want to go.
I really love this show. SGA and SGU will never be ass good as this. I really got to 'know' these characters in a way i didnt do in any other tv show i watched.
There will never be another TV series so grand like Stargate SG-1. Nothing can replace it; not Stargate Atlantis and not Stargate Universe. 10 seasons and 3 movies not to mention Stargate Mythology and all the other mini doc. and such. What a darn shame it is over now.

I can't imagine the boys from CCR would ever have imagined there song decades later would be synonymous to 5 people stuck in a time-dilation field and we'd all get choked up decades after that...
I think this was an amazing ending. Maybe the only thing that could improve it is if they had used the holo generator to bring back Jack for a cameo. Maybe even give him to tealc when he goes back in time. Would have made for an interesting open ending. Still great none the less

I love how we see everyone coping with their situation differently. Landry dives into hobbies, Carter into work, Vala and Daniel into their relationship. But Mitchel is the only one who doesn’t cope, which makes his outburst hurt so much more. Everyone, at one point in time, has been stuck in a situation they have no control over and wanted to trash their room like he did.
It's sad we don't get series like this anymore. It's a pity SGU ended after only 2 series. Like that series or not (I did) it's cancellation pretty much scuppered our chances of ever there ever being another Stargate. Decent space sci-fi seems to be dead sadly. I hear the new shows, "Dark Matter" and "Killjoys" are rather poor.

+123morfin I wouldn't mind a remake/sequel to the film as its been long enough now since the film was made. Plus, they have already mined another 90s SF film for the sequel/remake treatment with Independence Day so why not do the same with Stargate? Everything seems to get remade eventually after all...:)

I agree totaly. Star Gate SG1 was the best. I keep hopeing that they will see the light and posibly bring it back al though I know it will probably never hapen. I hope anothe rmovie comes out soon.
i'm currently running trough the entire series for the 5th time, and i still get sad when first daniel ascends, then when jack gets promoted, and then when sg-1 "stops"
This scene always gets me. They need to bring back Atlantis. And have an oniel cameo. Best use of a creedence song. Have another midway. Another Sam episode. They did with all of them. You'd hava a stargate show back. Our characters would still exist. And everyone would be happy
@Kreider100 I hope that it will come back some time in the future, other programs have followed this avenue. The writers just need time to think and get that orignal idea that kick started the series the first time.

They are stuck in time and aging....trying to figure out a solution after decades of trying....and Cameron does one day...with a unique power source that has been nearer and nearer to them....the source of all their troubles in the first place. Atlantis Rocks, Universe... it doesn't have the feel of Stargate but its ok. But I will miss SG1! This episode brought a tear to my eye.

It wasn't the best episode of SG-1, but it was a wonderful departure from the average SG-1 story plot.
It also introduced me to this wonderful song.
