would LOVE this exact same video, but for the 1.1 models. Very different mounting for the speakers and the monitor. I'd like to upgrade both if possible. (thinking a 30in lcd with the legends core max would be awesome)
I just wanted to say thank you for this video. I ordered 2 of these from Sam's and they both had dust/debris between the bezel and the LCD, so I returned them. I ordered a 3rd unit directly from AtGames hoping I'd have better luck but unfortunately I didn't. I was going to return the 3rd unit but your video gave me the confidence to open the unit up and clean the dust and debris out. I'm not really a technical guy at all so this video really helped. Thanks a lot!
I’d like to upgrade my speakers and if possible, add a subwoofer....any suggestions on what will work with this cabinet without requiring additional power or blowing the system? Does the machine have a 3.5mm output so you could simply slide in some pc speakers?
Cool video but let's see how to fully integrate the atgame legends arcade with a pc including the controls with a front end like hyper spin. Thank bro...
Surprisingly easy to do actually with hundreds of guides on it. But your going to have to replace "EVERYTHING" in the cabinet aside from the speakers and the controls.
@@johnmclain250 Man I got a cracked screen, which makes the screen black with vertical lines. I can't find the replacement lcd anywhere. Is there some sort of alternate model lcd you can use. Or do you have any suggestions to get this fixed? I know it works, because I plugged the hdmi to my TV and it was working.
Quick question for you, I have a 82 inch TV that require service under warranty, however the technician told me he will not unmount the TV to the wall. If I want him to do so, I need to sign discharge clause. Is it the standard in the industry? Or is it just Samsung?
That's the million dollar question. Only one person on earth so far has tried to replace the monitor in one of these with anything besides the ones they come with. And he never finished it. So it's uncharted territory. I'm planning to do this myself going in blind. Found a model of 1080p IPS monitor similar to the one in the cabinet, but 32" in size, only 1mm of clearance on each side so it's a "tight" fit. I will need to full convert the internal board with one that can convert to HDMI since nothing uses the LVDS connection thats practical to upgrade to. I'll need to heavily modify the frame if not outright replace it. And I will likely need to use a VESA mounting arm to keep the larger display in place in addition to frame. It will be a hell of a project since it's never been done before on one of these. (Or at least noone has ever claimed to have finished doing it.)
Is there an LCD converter available to make this screen accept hdmi input? If so, could you point me in the right direction. I've been searching everywhere, but not turning up any useful results. Thanks.
The latest version of the cabinet has a thin plastic piece instead of particle board. The speakers are mounted in plastic cups. They are rated at 8Ohms, 10W.
I recently bought a gutted arcade cabinet from Goodwill for $20. Well, "gutted" in the sense that there is no power supply, PCB, JAMMA wiring harness, coin acceptor, speakers, chassis (CRT monitor), or marquee light... but at least the genuine Happ controls are still there and someone installed a crappy 16:9 LCD monitor. Anyway, the LCD has got to go and the speakers aren't ported anyway, so I saw the thumbnail and thought this was going to help me "install speakers" to add them to my cabinet. I was disappointed that this is not about installing speakers in actual JAMMA arcade cabs. :( Oh well! The 2X Happ Competition sticks with 15 Suzo-Happ buttons (counting 1P, 2P, and illuminated Select) are already worth 4x what I paid anyway so I come out ahead even if I scrap the rest. :) Though I've never had an arcade cabinet at home I already had a couple Neo Geo MVS boards and an arcade power supply. I ordered a new 29" Makvision tri-sync chassis and JAMMA harness but I still don't know what to do about speakers... it looks like the cab has never had them!
@@TampaTec Thanks. It's great that the wiring is mostly standardized but audio amplification is handled by the game boards/PCBs and I don't know what the standard specs are for speakers (size, ohms, watts, etc). Guess I'll be peeping in a few JAMMA cabs to find out. :)
This should be good if you want to swap out the monitor with a 144mhz to replace what looks like a 60mhz. Then your streams thru Arcadenet should have a higher FPS.
---BE AWARE--- This is for the older higher quality v1.0 arcade cabinet. The newer lower quality v1.1 replaces most of this with cheaper options, less wood, more thin plastic. There are no longer any metal brackets to securely hold in the monitor just a few screws, etc.
Great "how to do" vid. Have you seen any of the Asian lithum small drivers with torque settings? Might be better for assembly/disassembly,less clunky than 18 or 19 volt driver.

Is there a way to get rid of the default bezel built it the ALUI and replace it with a muck bigger monitor (full screen)?
Where do we get a replacement monitor screen?
What did you upgrade the screen and speakers to? It looks like you simply took them out and put them right back in
how do you find a compatible replacement lcd panel?
Do you need 3 1/2" speakers? Or can you use 4"? And, can I go higher than 10 Watts without an amp? Like 50 Watts without amp?

If you're adding a sub you're likely going to need an amp to drive it.
Thank you, that was very practical and helpful.
I want to remove the outer bezel protective glass of the cabinet to add a mortal kombat bezel sticker, does the outer bezel glass remove??

Where can we purchase a replacement screen from?
It’s been asked again and again but no answer…which screens will fit? Any known model identifiers? Thanks

Some of us got cabinets that have the bezel coming off, (mines a v 1.1), mind making a video showing how to fix it? Its driving me nuts lol

Ebay and maybe Eldorado games might sell jamma wiring guides. Hope that helps.

Great video man!

I never saw the inside of an arcade system. Thanks for experience & lesson Tamp.
Can the plexi be removed from the front? There is something stuck between my plexi and glass, I’d love to take it off to wipe it off
I would like to know if this is possible as I have a smear on the inside of the plexi. Thanks.
@@nippynige8523 Mine does too, bad quality control by AtGames, not sure if I like to take it apart, since the plexi glued to the monitor.
Version 1.1 did not have any glue on the monitor it slid right out so I could wipe the inside of the plexiglass.

I know this is an ancient post, but given the board it connects to only accepts 60htz connection, that wouldn't work.
I put 200 watt speakers and a subwoofer because I made mine a jukebox along with the arcade
Shouldn’t glue be reapplied to the monitor ?
Anyone know where/what monitor can be used to replace broken screen? Kids cracked screen.
You put the same exact speaker back in as you took out ! How’s that an upgrade ? Lol
