To everyone wondering where they went because this channel's been inactive for more than 7 months now - I was curious too and went to check out their Facebook and Instagram. They're super active there! Apparently Daddy Kirbs' computer kept crashing while rendering videos, and he's stopped making videos since. But seems like he misses making videos, fingers crossed he gets a new computer and comes back to RUclips again!! :)
that video you made year ago where you said if it got 1million views you would give your friend 10 dollars, well it’s almost there only 200k more views to go 💪😂
It's been such a long time since you've shared your story. I hope you and your family are doing well. Loved the sounds of the birds chirping in the background.
Very interesting, my dad's uncle was a bee keeper, always fancied doing it but not much space and I'm not too keen on getting stung! Good to watch though.. thanks from London England 👍
You should try it. Join your local club and they will let you have a go. The stings are not that bad and the only time I have been stung was my own fault.
Hey DaddyKirbs Farm haven't seen a video for 6 months I was looking for Kombucha recipes and you popped up I hope all is well in these crazy times stay safe !!
Yes! The flowers are blooming! Our native Texas Persimmon trees have flowered and the Mesquite is starting. Some wildflowers are out and looking good now.
Good job Blake! I always enjoy following your progress. Good to know your bees are doing well. Great to see they are well behaved too, lol. Keep on keeping on my friend. Looking forward to watching your next upload ✌️🐝🐝🐝
This is amazing I’m probably late by like 4 months but I live on four acres right now but pretty soon we’re gonna have 600 acres because my dads side of the family are HUGE farmers
Most beekeeper with bad back use 8 frame boxes and there is one commercial beekeeper that uses only 5 frame boxes. Sometimes with a good nectar flow you may end up with 6 or 8 stack of boxes, not doable with horizontal hives.
Where I live the winds get so bad my boxes would pull a wizard of oz trick stacking them that high. Tie downs can only do so much with a high profile like that. Brave bee keepers, and fascinating info.
It's lovely to see the bees again. What is the daytime temperature where you are? Tomorrow I hope to do my first full inspection this year as the weather has been unusually cold here in the UK but today it was a little warmer and tomorrow is supposed to be even better. Your bees don't attack the camera like they used to! Makes for better watching. Here's hoping you have a good year.
Our temps are between 70 and 80 I reckon most days now. It's nice that the bees are more calm now than before. My camera appreciates it too! LOL. I pray you have a great year with your bees too.
@@daddykirbs Thanks, our night time temperatures barely stay above freezing and the daytime temperature tomorrow may reach 15C or 59F, the warmest its's been for a long time. The Cherry trees are in blossom but not the Apples yet but the Dandelion has just started. The bees go wild for Dandelion, do you have them in the States?
Here we go another question for those who know nothing about bees... when you see those empty queen cells do they eventually get an egg laid in them with new queens to develop or are they just old cells that haven't been torn down yet?
You need to smoke the bees directly and not just across the top away from the bees. Smoke into the entrance first and after removing the top cover. Sometimes, you just have to smoke heavy to control them. Then again, smoke is not needed at times. Enjoy you videos and look forward to them.
Thank you Dennis. I get a lot of different advise on how to smoke the bees. Admittedly I'm still unsure of the "best" way. I do appreciate your feedback. I'll continue to experiment with the different methods.
@@daddykirbs Thanks for the reply. I agree with you that there is a lot of beekeepers that say smoke or no smoke or very little smoke. The answer may be all three are right, especially during certain situations. There are time that I use lots of smoke and many times no smoke at all. I guess, very strong hives need more smoke and weak need less. You are doing a great job and keep the videos coming.

I hope so too! I don’t do Facebook….
That is good to know! I was worried they stopped making content completely. I want more videos from Daddykirbs Farm.
I was worried something happened in the family
This is much better than I'd feared
Thank you for commenting

getting close!

Enjoying following your page encouraged me to build a horizontal hive
So fun! Are you on Facebook? I'd love for you to share your progress in the Fanily group.
Good to see you again. Bees looking good! Have a blessed day and weekend!
Thanks, you too!

Getting stung isn't so bad in small numbers :) It would be a fun life adventure for you to give it a try.
There's lot's to learn to safely keep bee's. Thanks for sharing!

Those hives look nice and strong! Will need another box soon. You have any honey flow coming soon?

Thanks Tim! Maybe someday I'll be a real beekeeper LOL. I love your adventures as well. Keep it up.
Hi guys! Hope you’re staying safe out there!!!
Thank you for this video.
The hives have progressed a whole lot.
Thank you Jason. Yes we are doing well and so far staying safe. I pray y'all are well too. I appreciate your continued support.
Interested to see whether you are getting honey off your horizontal. I am a new beek with 2 of them.

I have considered 8 frame boxes. Mostly I'm leaning toward using the Horizontal hive style.
Where have you been? Is everything alright?

What brand of nitrile gloves are you wearing and do the bees sting through them often? Thanks
Here we go another question for those who know nothing about bees... when you see those empty queen cells do they eventually get an egg laid in them with new queens to develop or are they just old cells that haven't been torn down yet?
I've read that they only use new queen cups to make queen cells. I think it would be good practice for me to tear out the old cups when I find them.

@@menace2584 True... sometimes the answer is "all of the above". Thank you.
I have a question for you: can you eat the honeycomb??
Yes you can. It's just a little hard to swallow but perfectly edible.
So how did it do?
Why no new videos?
how is Luke?
Luke is having a lot of good days. He does still struggle with keeping his lungs strong, but overall he's doing well. Thank you for asking.
@@daddykirbs That is great news! Thank you for replying back.
@@daddykirbs I was wondering the same so thank you for the update :) I’ve been praying for your family :)
