I have a connection like this on the back of my Swann cctv. It's very annoying, now you see it now you don't. What should I do please ? Would dean have a spec for their cables and should I buy some and get my cables recrimped or is it not this straight forward ? Can I use some time foil or content spray or anything else to fix ?
Had this happen on a piece of install gear. As a quick fix that’s lasted 4 years to date, I got a very fine screwdriver in between the insulation and the centre pin socket and bent the centre pin socket bits so it was much tighter. As the equipment only gets moved every few years, it survived the last cabinet clean up, this might get you out of trouble In contrast, I had an Apple iPhone connector that stopped charging. The pads on the plug that provided power were dirty. You could see that under a magnifier. Cleaned the pads with some 00 steel wool. Phone charges now. Good luck
Keep in mind....it's not just the socket malfunctioning mechanically. It can and likely have built up gunk from years of use. A clean with ISO as well as repositioning of the female tabs makes a difference. Most can be recovered.
I had tons of bad BNC connectors. I used to buy them on ebay because I thought "well they are plugs what does it matter". But DC is not AC and well I threw away all my cables and connectors after a bonked weekend with bad cables and BNC and remade all my cables and only bought the good stuff. BNC is still my favourite connector though. I can't stand PL or N or SMA (though I can tolerate SMA). Also can you recommend a manufacturer?
I have seen this for yrs. This can blow the finals
you can use a needle to bend center tabs closer todether

Good info. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Peter. Who ever gave this a thumbs down got some issues!
Don't forget the 93 ohm ones that were used on early networking equipment. Still got the tooling for crimping those.
Keep the videos coming! Love them.
Thanks for the tip. Think I ran into something like this a while back but did not know what I know now. I will have to double check now.

Just had a pl259 go bad. 30 minutes of troubleshooting.
BNC 50Ohm vs 75Ohm
