Nothing like a big orchid filled greenhouse! I love it! And those look very healthy, as you'd expect from this reputable vendor! This past weekend my local orchid society held it's annual show. It is far from one of the largest or most prestigious in the country, but it is always very nice, featuring representations from many important orchid societies from all over the Brazilian southeastern region, and is valid for the CAOB (Brazil's national orchid societies coordination) annual calendar. It is such a good time and great opportunity to keep up with the latest developments in the hobby. There were some off the charts walkerianas and nobiliors there. I had never seen anything like those! One of these nobiliors was awarded the best plant in show. Huuuge flowers! Thank you for taking us along for the tour at Sundance!
That show sounds so exciting! If I were there, I would have asked the best in show plant owner for either pollinia or seed from this plant. I do have my eye on a nobilitor hybrid that I saw at Sundance - did not know what it was but saw it in my video afterwards. I will hopefully grab one when I return next week.
🪴Well by the looks of this Professor , you had a magnificently beautiful time walking through those orchids !! I thoroughly enjoyed it ! 🪴 they do have so many beautiful species ☺️ thanks for the tour ! I wish them great success on their sale 🤗 🎉Congrats on the beautiful display you’ve been given too 🎉
Very nice video, I just went yesterday and I came home with two more orchids 😊hard to resist and today I just want to go back . My new babies are Prada Green Deluxe and a clone of the Lava Burst Maku . I agree with you very good prices for those health’s orchids.
I am glad that you were able to find some that you liked. I am very selective with my purchases and I picked up 4 myself! It is hard to restrain oneself!
That _B. cucullata_ would tempt me. Especially as it has that orange coloration. You could use it in crossing with some of your big yellow or spotted hybrids and see what you get. Always wondered how that species would do crossed onto some of the Mexican Laelias.
I absolutely did not need any more but picked up 4 and tried to put a hold on a 5th. Yeah - I am not saving money but do have more discipline than others!!...
when it comes to pronounciation, everyone has their own and although it is funniest to pronounce dendrobium bigibbum the way you did, there really is only one correct way to pronounce that according to the taxonomists. Just like Bicolor, the Bigibbum emphasizes on the bi so it is pronounced in the same way. Bi-gibbum, like bicolor. Not big bum. Would be interested which crosses you put up for sale. I like looking up crosses. The roots at this place were really nice.
Thanks so much for your comment. I do not shop with my orchid colleagues so do not know the pronunciation of many of the orchids. I get stuck on the species "cordigera" - accent on the second or third syllable?
@@plantpropagator cordigera would be a complete guess from me haha, I'd say the accent on the second syllable. but I am european, it would sound more american on the third syllable 😃

I will share my small haul in another video - small haul but fun. Thanks for your comment!
@@plantpropagator yayyyy ! Awesome can’t wait !
It's a wonderful place. So well maintained and beautiful ❤
I like it there too - and they are the closest orchid vendor to me so I am trying to get to know them better!!

I ended up getting a very small plant so I will cross it WHEN it flowers, which will be a while.....
Nice video! You might have to become a vendor at all the shows!
Yeah but I am retired and it would not be as much fun if I had to make too many flasks. Those are just nice extras!!
@@plantpropagator Very true!
I’d love to visit one day!
There are so many places to visit here. It is interesting that they all seem to do well with many of the same orchids from big growers in Asia.
Boy, am I glad I don't live near all the wonderful orchid nurseries in Florida. I already have serious trouble saying NO to beautiful orchids!
