IMAN stands for Initialization Manual. A function block will go into this mode if there is a problem with a downstream block or a link to it. For example, a DeltaV PID block will goes into IMAN if the BACKCAL_OUT parameter on the downstream block is not connected to the BACKCAL_IN parameter on the PID, or the downstream block is sending a ‘Bad’ quality or ‘Not Invited’ status over the link. You can check the diagnostics on the PID block for corrective action.
Ideally you would want the device you are controlling - e.g. control valve - to be at 50 % during normal operation. That way if a disturbance occurs the valve has the ability to go 50 % open or 50 % closed. In reality this normal operation isn’t right a 50 %.
I would suggest checking out this link from Emerson. It looks like they offer virtual courses now: www.emerson.com/documents/automation/deltav-distributed-control-system-dcs-courses-en-1263688.pdf
saad tariq the software I am using is DeltaV PlantWeb Experience. Contact Emerson for more information on purchasing. Here is a link to the product data sheet: www.emerson.com/documents/automation/product-data-sheet-plantweb-experience-deltav-en-56218.pdf.
