Do you notice the headband she's wearing? She had been in a really bad car wreck not long before and was recuperating at this time. She had an extremely bad cut on her forehead from hitting the windshield and didn't want anyone to see it so she used the headband as a cover. It wasn't for vanity, she just didn't want her fans to know how seriously injured she was. She didn't want them to be worried! It was only a little while after she got out of the hospital. Love Patsy Cline!
The first time I heard her. I was LISTENING PBS was raising money. They was playing Patsy Cline, I promise I had tears in my eyes, her voice is so beautiful. Then they showed The Life of Patsy Cline, I stayed up all night looking at the documentaries they had on her. People in her hometown criticize her. Back then a woman singing Honky Tonk was not a Lady. She is all women.
So glad you're digging into Patsy Cline songs. Patsy can get into a song like no one else. If the audience gets into the song & cheers her on. She gives even more. Patsy will sing her 💙 out. Wish i could of seen her performing live, but i was only 2 1/2 yrs old when she died.
Happy song from Patsy Cline? That's a tall order. Patsy specialized in heartbreak. Nevertheless, she has a cute little upbeat number called, "I Love You Honey," and another reassuring one, "Back in Baby's Arms." But, IMO, her best songs are all heartbreakers. Anyway, thanks for reacting to this one.
You need to watch movie Sweet Dreams. It's about her life. She was in a very bad car accident that just about scalped her. That's why the headband. She was quite a rounder and so was her husband. Great song too, Sweet Dreams.
Have you heard and done a reaction video to "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart"? By the Bee Gees and also by the great Al Green? The Bees Gees version is supberb but Al Green's...Oh my God!
"Country and western" (actually made in a city in the east) tends to the maudlin. It's a negative approach to life. The other problem is that the voice never goes below the throat.
@@nozecone Memphis and Nashville are cities, not rural/"country". And they are in the east, not in the west. And focus on her singing: very much like Appalachian folk musics, such as bluegrass, the fundamentals of which are English/Scottish, the singing is often nasal, and never lower than the throat.
@@nozecone Think it through: How much of it is "American" music? How much is it anti-intellectual -- excess emotionalism over reason? How much is it hidebound tradition against change and growth?
Patsy was the sweetheart of broken hearts. And she had an amazing voice.
Yesss

React to Patsy Cline's cover of San Antonio Rose - it's an upbeat tune.

I'm a welshman i'm in love
Never heard of her
Me either until some one ask me to listen
Just so you know, you don’t have to be a woman to be hurt.
I think the husbands of these famous, popular women had some kind of massive inferiority complex...they were abusive to their wives, ☹️.
This was country music in the 50s and 60s. Sad, and predictable.
