    Just watching your channel, I admire your attitude to sailing, and if it’s your 6 th time of sailing a yacht , fair does to you , your doing it and I salute you, I’m 55 and just thinking about taking up sailing, I think I need to stop thinking and get on with it, sail steady, keep the vids coming ,
    Regards
    J

    Finally caught up in time for the last video, so watching this one on release day (kinda).
    I can't help but notice, as I've binged every video in the last few weeks, how far along you've come in the last year and despite being relatively new to sailing you sound like you've been doing it a long time.
    You're also doing what I've dreamed of doing for the last 30ish years!
    Thank you for the incredibly entertaining channel Tery

    Learning at a rapid pace. Coastal sailing like this was a very good decision. Lots of challenges compressed into short sails with room for sleep and figuring out what to try different each day.

    Terry, a harness is better than a lifejacket, a lifejacket especially with an auto pilot will see you waving at the boat if you fall in. Much better to tie in

    I learnt to sail on the Norfolk rivers on a boat your size with no engine. I can remember journeys with my folks where it was: 1 2 3 4 5 tack 1 2 3 4 5 tack… and that was with motor cruisers constantly trying to get past. Not trying to be clever… but gives me a very different mentality to tacking.

    You want to be tied off when you go forward and not so much when you are sitting in the cockpit. Seems a lttle backwards.

    • @michaelstanley8209
      @michaelstanley8209 2 месяца назад

      Agree going forward is more likely the place to loose balance etc and be knocked overboard. You could run a line fore and aft to stay clipped on or unclip at the bottom and re clip as you go. Otherwise well done and keep going

      @@BumblingSailor oh I kinda know that feeling! I sail the Bristol Channel, but with the tidal range wouldn’t be without depth & depth alarm. Fin keeler from Portishead went aground on the sand bank outside Cardiff, the flip-flopping and dragging around on re floating damaged his keel & dislodged bulkheads. Another guy I met in Porthcawl went aground in the mumbles, & bent / cracked his rudder ~20 degrees sideways. It’s easy to get caught out … a depth alarm can be a boat saver.
