I agree, seeing a guy road tripping with a Sportster is very cool and nostalgic, puts the adventure back into motorcycling. When my brother first returned after fighting in the jungles of Vietnam, the first thing he did was buy a 1968 XLCH and strap his army duffle bag to a home made sissy bar and road trip it 1400 miles.

I love doing day trips on my 1999 Sportster with almost 400,000 miles on her. Of course in Florida it's thousand miles just to get the hell out of the state. Cannot wait till the orange blossoms when they are in bloom we have the sweetest smelling are on Earth hands down. My British stuff is all kick-start only now that is old. I always consider a motorcycle with an electric start to be a modern motorcycle. Ride safe.

I used to go all over on my sporty but I had a small wind screen that helped a lot. Fun video just proves you don't need a 20000 to 50000 bagger to have fun.

if you ever run across Uncle Rays Garlic potato chips try those. I rode my Shovel about 30 yrs most of it was just a lets go thing no motorhomes no sleeping bags tents cell phones so on and so forth met a lot of great people had a lot of fun and Didn't get arrested that often.

I'll never forget my road trip from Florida to the Smokey Mountain National Park on a 2001 883 Sportster. I had it loaded down like the Beverly Hillbillies. The best part was smiling at the "bikers" towing their $30k touring bikes or the ones that stop under every overpass when a drop a rain is felt. I'm getting older now and have a hip replacement in my future, but I plan to repeat the trip again on my 1999 EVO powered Heritage Softail. Keep up the great content and stay safe!

Anyone just starting out on the road with their scooter do several of these overnight road trips. You'll find out what you do and don't need in a hurry. It will always be cold somewhere, you will get wet and the trip will never turn out to be exactly how you thought it would be. When I started on the road their was no cell phone, no air mattress, no GPS just rode by the seat of your pants and fixed whatever needed fixing. That's the adventure. My first long road trip in the early 70's was 4500 miles with a buddy of mine from Wisconsin to Tempe AZ to visit a friend I played football with at ASU. Hit four days of rain on the way out. We spent a lot of time at the laundry drying all our stuff. Hit Shamrock TX and never had to run in the rain again that trip. We had a '69 sporty and a 66 triumph 650. We bungeed everything on like your buddy did. Spent several days in Tempe and had a young lady show us around the city, she was very nice. The day we left to go to the grand canyon and up through the rockies she said you probably have heard about my Dad and I said probably not. She said, well you have heard of U-Haul haven't you and I said yes and she says my Daddy owns that. Another road not taken. Did enjoy your video, Corey. Later bro.

Hey Tramp great video. I just embarked on quite a solo journey of my own. On 6/26/22 my wife passed away after a long battle with cancer. I spent the next month rebuilding my old 1996 FLHT 80" Evo. To cleans my soul I left on Aug 1 bound for Michigan via Sturgis SD. I was out on the road for 60 days and 7210 miles doorstep to doorstep. Epic journey I only wish Diana was there with me. Met CMA members Jim and Belinda High from Kenney IL along the way and thank them for giving me some direction and blessing myself and my machine. Thanks Tramp

What a transition... from Amish bread to Gypsy travelin' music :) And the "waking up face" footage is obviously as real as it gets to anybody who ever slept on the ground. If you guys ever go on another aimless road trip through northwest Alabama, you can go to Natural Bridge State Park and see the longest natural bridge east of the Mississippi.
It is definitely in the middle of nowhere! If it's still open, you can go "fill your gizzard at the Slick Lizard" in Nauvoo near Slick Lizard Road.... This was an enjoyable video, for sure, Tramp. Keep 'em comin'!

@@SaddleTrampTV There's a nice scenic route winding along through the hills, but I can't remember the road number. I had to do some work up in that area before and always thought that it was great scooter riding country, but I never did go back. It is somewhere around one of the streams that they dammed up to build Lewis Smith Lake. It's beautiful country, or was 20 years ago.

Carson is a little taller than I but he will adapt to really enjoy that ride. As for tent camping I used to be completely miserable as a side sleeper - my hips were killing me until I learned to roll forward slightly toward my bent knees and distribute my weight more on my legs. I can wake in the mornings rested and pain free now! Why did it take me so long to adapt? Yall ride safe and catch you guys somewhere down the road!

@@SaddleTrampTVkeep those videos coming. I am curious we both have 94 flstc Harleys. I was wondering does your 98 dresser have higher cruising speeds. Down here in Florida it seems like my 94 Evo even with the screaming eagle stage to came is not comfortable cruising at 75 or 80 all day long. Living in Florida if you can't cruise at 7580 all day long you'll get run off the road

@@mjmjersey Not sure. The electraglide has a rubber mounted engine, so I don't feel all the vibration as I would on the softail. The tachometer reads 3000 rpm at 70mph and 3300 to 3400 at 80mph. I'm curious to see what it is on the softail.

Perhaps the next sporty project you're getting ready to start should be a extended springer front and swingarm frame built for weekend getaways when the wife stays home

Just checking on you... Seen your video where you had the oil leak and you took off the back tire... just making sure you put it back on correctly and didn't kill yourself. don't know how many times I have see a guy mess with his back wheel and not put it back on right only to have him wobble down the road and wreck.
    Triple check that back tire.
