Throwback to when someone showed me kina. I fell in love with her songs even though i only knew three of them and understood just a few words, as a czech kid with a very basic knowledge of english. But I felt like I was such a big girl it was the first thing, that was MINE. Kina was the first non- czech artist, that I've listened to, that I haven't copied off my older cousin. It was just MINE. My tastehas changed a lot, but youtube recomended this video to me so I listened to it and I remembered so many things from that time and realised that I still remember the melody and how the lyrics sounded, not what they ment. But because my english got better over those years, I now got the songs with the meaning and I think that 9 year old me would be happy to know, that I now understand the lyrics and dont have to translate it lol

I first came by this song randomly on a playlist and I hadn't heard the original before and it was the first time in my life I had to go up to the roof, look at the stars and cry. I've heard a lot of songs about how girls are special and revered and stuff but this was the first time that I felt that someone felt something so lovely for me. I felt as if Kina was talking to me and it melted my heart and told me how much I needed to open up and how much I needed the love I gave away. Thanks man, for making me feel like I could be worth something to someone.

I was feeling sad that day, like so many days before, for no reason that I could think of. It was like this piece inside me knew something that I just didn't, it was screaming and shouting for attention but I was busy being a cool. I'd dismissed that feeling all that time thinking it was just a teen phase and that it'll go away and then this song popped up on my playlist. I was about to skip it because I like war cries and stuff more but 10 seconds in, I just burst out crying. I felt as if it wasn't a song, it was as if someone who cared so much for me was talking to me, saying that the stars shone for me, that she loved my weird and ugly self. She told me of how she liked the touch of my skin and how I smelled. ME. I let myself cry that day. I cried a lot that day. It was as if I'd always told people of how great they were and tried to make them feel good about themselves but it never occured to me that nobody ever did that for me. Nobody asked me how my day was if I hadn't asked them first, nobody told me they're happy I'm just, there. I did all that. And I did all that because when I did that, I allowed myself to feel good about myself. Only when others gave me that pass, I loved myself only then. I turned on the lights and I just hugged the mirror for one straight minute. And I know that it's logically not right, but I felt hugged back by a bigger and older me. It was so warm and loving and.... accepting. I care so much about what everyone says or did not say, pretending all the while that I didn't care about what they thought, because I just wanted permission to accept myself. That day I realized what I should do with my life. I want to become not A man, like the macho man, but the man my 17 year old, lonely, lost, awkward self who looks up on wikihow "how to make friends" go - whoa when he looks at me, the man he made, the man I've made. That's all we all want, we all want to be accepted. By ourselves. And I haven't completely done it yet, but I'm proud that I'm trying. Thanks Kina.
