I should have used that on a project I was working on today :/ Next time I guess. I see this really helping out with creating support structures in molded ABS parts.
I know they had in the desktop versions for a while. But once you commit to a "thin feature" in SW, its stuck that way forever. I like in Onshape, later on, you can switch it to a think feature (or even to a surface) - much more flexible for design changes! 😀
@@TooTallToby In Solidworks you can choose to have it radius the corners, as for (say) rectagular hollow section tubing. Is that the case here? I'm thinking if it did offer that option, you would have showed it?
@@Gottenhimfella I dont think there is an option for that yet - I think you need to radius the corners in the sketch in onshape (or fillet feature afterwards)
Toby, you are the best CAD instructor on RUclips. Your approach just works. Thanks for your efforts.
Oh man THANKS Kevin!
This is good one!

I agree this is going to be awesome for internal supports!
I've been using thin extrude a lot lately. Hardest part so far is remembering that it is an option. lol
Lol - I know I still end up defaulting to "drawing it thin" - then I remember (too late usually) 😆😆😆
That's such a great feature!
I agree!
I like it!
Yes, this is a nice addition. Will definitely be using this!
yeah this is a game changer!
This is awesome!
Awww yeah!!! 😀😀😀
The best!
Awww yeah!!
Useful info! Does Solidworks have this feature already?

👍👍
😄😁
So basically it’s a surface extrusion with thicken already applied ? :P
