To me Rengoku comes across as an adult Tanjiro. They got simillar character traits. Also, Sarah's reaction when Inosuke run into the train was priceless.
An older tanjiro that lost his sister and without the trio.

I'd still like to believe that one of the other main reasons Rengoku kept buying so much, if not all of the bentos from Fuku and her grandma, was so that they'd have to sell less and they could go home earlier so they'd be safe.

Why would Adam exclude the hereditary factor of both the dad and Rengoku 😅 Altho there are definitely a nurture there, nature was always passed down (if not the father, the grandparents, or even ancestors). It's just shocking to me 😆
I dont know if you noticed, but Rengoku is hard of hearing. This is why he speaks a little louder. Like yes its part of his personality too, but his eardrums were injured in one of his missions early in his career. It is a very decent speculation that his ears haven't fully healed after that. This was revealed in a one shot chapter that talked about his backstory a little.
Also, regarding their powers being in the genetics. Zenitsu has no known connection to a former demon slayer, same with Kanao(she was adopted by the kocho sisters), etc. So characters without the genetics can reach that point too...i mean zenitsu literally turns into lightning to blitz the enemies(he doesn't..lol. The mangaka himself broke the bubble by saying that these flashy effects are for viewers, there are no real flames, or water, etc involved)
Nope, just a misconception. He was already talking loudly as a kid in the flashback with his mother, it's just his energetic/passionate personality.
I'm on the side of watching the movie first then episode 1, but I can live with this decision. At least you're watching the movie, I probably wouldn't watch if ya'll were reacting to the episodes
Season 2 is Entertainment District Arc. You don't really need to watch the coverage episodes from the movie. Mugen Train is enough then season 2 next.

I love how Sarah and Adam ALWAYS asks the right questions. When I was watching this first time I never asked those questions, and that just really highlights the thought that went into the lore, because the answers they want will be revealed later on.

I'm sure people will explain it better than me during the movie, but there's a cultural reference in Rengoku that I always loved. The reason he is always appreciating food loudly like that calls back to an ancient samurai tradition, which is to treat every meal you have like it was the last one. You'll see that Rengoku is a guy that does everything at 100%, whether he's fighting, eating or even talking. It's because he's fully aware that with his work he could die anytime, like the samurais back in the day, so he appreciates everything that way. Always thought it's a fantastic way to see life in general, and it shows how the thought of death is not negative at all in eastern cultures compared to ours!

Remember Sarah: all the blood demon arts really exist in the physical world of DS... But the breathing styles are just sword techniques, the fire effects and water etc are visuals of how the techinque is perceived by the breath user (Water breathers perceive that "flow", thunder breathing first form does make a sound because of the sound of the leg impact on the groung on the first step of the move, mist breathing is cloaking the movements of the user and the sword by the baggy cloathes and changes of speed etc.) and also how the demon feels it (like the butterfly dance felt like butterflies flurrying at the spider demon it was actually all the pokes she got from Shinobu). So,Rengoku wasn't a fire ball... and there's no actual fire just a sword slash, that said: there are some slayers that have lineage, some have exceptional talent but they all did really hard work.. its a combo of nature and nurture the peak of the human capacity and technique to match strength and speed of a demon.

Rengoku is the Flame Hashira, yet he is the coolest of them.
Idk if anyone has mentioned it but when the demon slayers use their "Fire" breathing & we see flames, it's suppose to be the personification of their abilities. In actuality there is no "fire" being created. That's why Rengoku doesn't burn himself into a crisp when he runs into a flaming comet

For the movie I can think of 3 that I think are absolute guaranteed. But l am not going to spoil them.
As for the debate of nature vs nurture for the demon slayers, I think you can say the same for athletes, both can be true.
There are fantastic athletes who come from non-athletic families. There's no Michael Jordan sr, or Roger Federer sr, doing their dominant thing in sports, then they gave birth to these generational talents who just blow us away.
Then, there are the 2nd or 3rd generation athletes who come from a line of great athletes (whether the sport is the same or different). Think Floyd Mayweather, or wrestlers like Bret Hart & Charlotte Flair.

Rengoku could literally killed off the slasher in seconds, but he prioritized taking care of the injured, making sure he’s ok, even if the tsuguku already arrived to tend to him.
I'm glad you are watching the movie. I just think it's a better experience. My opinion of when you watch episode 1 is much less strong.

All these combat effects with fire, water, etc., are all for the sake of the readers/watchers. They don't actually have these superhuman abilities, so Rengoku didn't actually turn into a fireball running down the train tracks.
In reality they are all just superb physical specimens, like top tier athletes. All their strength, speed, jumping ability comes from their breathing training.
Some characters do have some innate "abilities" like Tanjiro's extremely strong sense of smell, Zenitsu's superb hearing, and Inosuke's animal-like ability to sense his surroundings.
The element effects aren't just for the readers/watchers. The other characters in the universe also see those effects. The author only clarified that they can't conjure elements out of nowhere. Their attacks make it seem like they do but they don't. The elemental effects are visible in universe though.
I say this as someone who has read the manga. Tanjiro is great, but there is a reason Rengoku will always be best boy for me in this series.
Hashira is not hereditary thing...only 2 hashiras( rengoku and kocho) come from hashira family... Others are orphan.... 1 has a bloodline bluff....this gen of hashiras are particularly loyal to the master becouse the master had found them in near death situations and helped them

I love this episode put some details of the movie to those who watched recognize but dont make spoilers to people that wasnt watched. Some of your theories are in the right way, dont exactly what it is but it shows how good with details you are, i like it. A curiosity, some people think that Kyojuro speak loud because in his first demon slayer mision he has to burst his eardrums to kill the demon.
Anyone can be a slayer and use breathing, genetic and natural talent helps but is more about hardwork
