Dillinger labs are you listening? Im buying 2 if and only if you add line outs for the Soundbok's sitting on top. That only makes sense for dj's so we can transmit to a full pair setup using a single transmitter in Skaa Pro mode. While you're add it add a switchable high pass filter for that line out so the SB's can hit harder and no struggle to create the lows your DFB's have covered. And add a plaque on the DFB's with the speaker settings for those of us without photographic memory. Then they'll be perfect!
This was a very helpful Video! Thank you for your time and effort. I am thinking so hard to buy it even when I don’t play the soundboks out very loud. I think it makes a tremendous difference.
everything sounds cool, I just have one question before pulling the trigger: What will happen when the battery degrades?? because it will happen sooner or later. It would be perfect to have something similar as Soundboks battery
DFB owner's manual says the battery's replaceable. It's not a cartridge type but they will have replacement batt packs available on SKAAstore for users to swap in say 5 years down the road.
1) With a 19ms delay in the sub, won't their be huge phase issues with the monitors which are NOT be sent audio wirelessly? 2) 70 watt amplifiers for a sub sounds quite low. Is that right?
A few notes: (1) the 19ms has not been an issue for me. If anything the DFB sounds better in my home studio than my old Mackie wired sub. But the phase flip option is always there if you're hearing phase issues, although, I doubt you will because the bottom EQ preset is filtered around 85 Hz, so it's purely sub frequencies coming through. There may be a bit of crossover phase from my mains in that range, but it's imperceptible to me. (2) I like having the bass slightly behind the transients because it make things sound punchier. When used in conjunction with other wireless speakers, that's where the time delay settings come into play, because you actually need even more latency to get the sub behind the transients in those cases.(3) 70W is low for a sub, but that's just because it's battery powered. A 1000W amp would eat up the battery in like 5 minutes. That said, the sub sounds more like 140W because of the dual driver design. For the studio it's plenty of power, I barely have the thing up half way when I'm mixing. For personal listening, it's plenty. For live sound, you could do a small to medium sized gig and be okay - larger venues you'll need something with more juice.
EQ Preset zero is wide open on the low end, so it'll go down to 20 Hz. That's what I use in my home studio. EQ preset 2 is the 'punch' preset that is optimized for hiphop rap and other bass heavy genres. Double-tap the power button and then turn the volume knob to select your EQ preset.
I don't think I would consider these ideal for a studio these are more like for a house party or a small outdoor rave. But that's just me. Look into Yamaha, Adam Audio, etc for a more ideal reference level studio subwoofer to help you properly construct the mixdown on your tracks or recordings.
@@ichigen511 Josh uses a DFB in studio so that's pretty good. I guess the point is, DFB can do both. Use it in the studio with EQ preset 0. Use it for gigs/parties with EQ settings 2, 3 or 4.
But what is the latency? Is it truly low enough to be a scratch dj or EDM dj? I don't care about latency when playing an iPod or streaming. Latency needs to be next to NIL for a perfomance DJ. If these are truly 19 millisecond latency then these are badass looking desirable wireless subwoofers. Though latency is added by distance from the booth. Anyways very interesting I will keep and eye (and both ears) out for these.

Hell ya
First! One thing my studio doesn't have is a decent sub.

It’s 19 ms fixed, regardless of distance. That’s one of the advantages of SKAA over Bluetooth or WiFi.
