Knebworth was actually Freddie’s last live concert. Unfortunately it wasn’t professionally filmed but you can find the whole show here. Brian said when it was over Freddie said, “I can’t fucking do this anymore.” It’d be another year before his AIDS diagnosis was confirmed, but he was clearly already having problems with his health in ‘86. The throat infection at Live Aid, in fact, may have been the real beginning of the end for him. God, I miss having him in this world. Love seeing you and so many others getting to know him and Queen.

Taken from songfacts: This song was written by Brian. It is about the good and bad times of extensive touring, which the band did during their first few years. Their success did not come overnight - success in America particularly was laid by many years of touring there in the 1970s, and battling against the common "east coast" style rock of the Eagles and Steely Dan. In 1974 Queen supported the band Mott the Hoople in America. This tour provided the inspiration for this song, which contains the lyrics "Down in the city, just Hoople and me." Queen had a great time on tour with Mott the Hoople, but unfortunately Brian May fell ill near the end of the tour with severe hepatitis and spent many of the sessions for Sheer Heart Attack recovering in hospital. He since admitted that he was nervous that the band would find a replacement, and he was determined to keep working to stop that from happening. As it turned out, the band never even considered replacing May, and even left space in the songs they were already working on for him to add his parts when he was healthy enough. Even so, "Now I'm Here" is one of May's first songs that he wrote for the album once coming back to health, and the loud and strutting nature of the song suggests the tone of a man re-energised and ready to play again.
That was the first time I saw Queen live, in Memphis 4/20/74 as Mott’s warm up band. A friend of mine knew what hotel Mott was staying in so I went down hoping to meet them. Instead, I found myself face to face on a balcony with Freddie. He invited me in to their suite, and I knew who they were and already liked them but I was 17 and, well, declined the invite. Now I just feel honored that for a few minutes I was eye to eye with him and breathing the same air as him.

That was Spike on the piano. He went with them on the 1986 Magic Tour- which was Freddie’s last live tour. They played to only stadiums, which others thought was crazy, but Queen sold out at all of them across Europe and tickets sold so fast back home at Wembley they did 2 nights. Tickets still sold out fast so they booked another at Knebworth which also sold out. They use to match with clothing, but on this tour it was whatever- it was post their triumph at Live Aid and they were at the top once again!! I knew you would love the drums and guitar in this one- plus Freddie’s forceful vocals. HAP3SPEAKZ He really cared about his fans and wanted everyone to feel included. Personally he was a very nice guy. Everyone has always said he was more concerned about everyone else having fun then himself.
This was the first song they performed at the concert I went to in Feb. Wow what an amazing opening it was too. Incredible stuff. Great reaction too - you had me laughing a lot.
Please react to ''You Take My Breath Away (Live At Hyde Park 1976)'' . You will see a different side of his performance, the soft, delicate Freddie from the 70s...
Fantastic!! I've never watched those songs back to back like that!! I'm so grateful you did it that way!! This is the group that stole my heart when I was younger. There will never be another like them!! Great, great reaction! Thanks!
Trying to catch up on a few of the songs I missed on your Queen playlist. Wembley was the part of the last tour but the last performance of the tour was actually at Knebworth, although the Wembley Sat night is my favorite. As for the keyboard player, Montreal was the last concert they did with just the four of them. After that they hired a keyboard player. For this tour, it was Spike Edney.. Hey, I don't see White Queen live at Hammersmith 1975 (official video) on your playlist. It's a fantastic song with a really nice instrumental musical interlude featuring Brian and Freddie. You should check it out if you haven't done it. I know some can get removed so maybe I missed it but definitely worth doing if you haven't done it. It's one of my favorites. Thanks, Hap3! Great review as always.
Spike edney is the guy who does backup guitars (rhythm) and keyboards and piano, he's been kind of an unofficial fifth member of queen since of about late 83- early 84, he's also worked on and with Brian and Roger's solo bands and projects and recordings,, he's still with the band today he's Very underrated and undermentioned just a quick shout out to spike a great musician in his own right. 😭😭
I hope the opening number of this concert, One Vision, is somewhere on your list. The energy if off the charts - from the band and the audience. They were totally feeding off each other!
Thank you Hap great reaction once again. Freddie attitude was to make his fans happy. I think it was important to the whole band that their audience felt they got the best performance. 😍👏
It was a good idea to do both version reacted. Both were great! I like the Wembely verson better, it was awesome! I love Freddie's energy and how he runs around the stage. Thanks!
Please do a reaction to Queen You Take My Breath Away (Live At Hyde Park 1976)! This is a very special performance because Freddie sung this song similarly to the studio version which is very hard!
@@HAP3SPEAKZ the difference is that the live version is just Freddie singing and playing by himself; no harmonies. The studio version features lush harmonies and stronger vocals from Freddie. That's why imho you should hear both.
While Brian was in hospital worried the band would replace him, Freddie made a tape of all Brian's guitar solos, and took it to him. Freddie told him there would be no Queen without him, and not to worry.❤️
Knebworth Park UK was Queens last live performance with Freddie in 1986. It became obvious to the concert manager Gerry Stickles that they could have sold out Wembley for a 3rd night but the venue was not available for it so they moved for one night and the final night to Knebworth. The crowd attendance of 120 k was bigger than Wembley of around 80 k but their biggest UK concert attendance was the free Hyde Park at 180 k .Cheers love the Queen reactions. So much of the catalogue of songs waiting for you to enjoy.
@@HAP3SPEAKZ yep just a shame there has never been any proper released footage of Knebworth. A few clips of the stage of radio ga ga and Arial shots of stage and crowd in the video for 'show must go on' but that's about it.
Full saying “Curiosity killed the cat, but Satisfaction brought it back!”, just a little FYI for you. Love your channel and your laugh! It brings a smile to my face to see someone else enjoy something that I’ve enjoyed for decades!
I would take just a sliver of that energy! Je doesn't stop from beginning if concert til end. As you saw at one point was in a full run and then could continue singing full winded, no struggle.
This was a tip of the hat to a band called “Moot the Hoople”, who Queen opened for for in their early days. One of the of the lines is “ down in the City just Hoople and me”
I believe 1986 was their last tour together. I wanted to point out that they still recorded music and videos until 1991 (the year Freddie passed away). The last video they made was “These are the days of our lives”. Now when Brian and Rog tour with Adam Lambert, Roger sings that one....I think because it’s such a special song to them. I believe Freddie did his Opera work with Monserrat Caballé after this 1986 tour also.
Brian and Roger said that they wanted to do their best at Wembley because they were at home. They also said that this tour was really special in many ways. They were the first group which performed in stadium and they and their technicians took a special care of the quality of the sound. Roger didn't like to play this song particularly because it's a physical challenge for him. And since it was played in the middle of the concert that's perhaps one of the reason that it was followed by two ballads. Roger said something really nice too : From the beginning they liked to see the public participate. The more it happens the more they wanted to do their best. And perhaps it's also a reason why Wembley was such a succes.
@@maximebriochain5567 Roger said no such thing about not liking playing Now I'm Here. He said it's exhausting to play because it's physically demanding
The Queen fans will always have strong opinions about the various versions of these songs. We love hearing them over and over. Just be forewarned that if you listen to them all you’ll be at this for a long while.😂 Did they tell you specifically which night? And I got a big laugh about “putting your life on hold”. They were 5 yrs more polished at live performances.
@@HAP3SPEAKZ It probably depends on the person's criteria: May be pristine video/audio quality; may be Brian (or Roger or Deaky) had an especially good performance/solo; may be an especially on-point vocal rendition by Freddie w studio-quality high notes OR may be an especially raw emotional rendition; may be over-the-top audience participation or other crazier-than-usual antics by Fred.😅🙅♀️😉
I'd say more because Montreal was a lackluster concert. That low energy crowd made for a low energy band. Queen killed it at Milton Keynes less than a year later. (As was the case in every song when comparing those two concerts. The only thing better about Montreal is the visual quality.)
It will be midnight where I am and I have to get up and go to work in the morning, so I can’t see it live. I’ll look forward to seeing it when I wake up. A good start to my day because this performance is one of my favourites
Hello Hap! Seeing your facial expressions and great reaction makes me feel happy. Freddie is so amazing, i don't know where he get that super duper energy,,, lol. They're all great. Queen is the best band! I love them all🥰 🎶🎵👑👑💓💗
Love this, but as others have said, not their last concert. The last tour, yes. Look up the tour dates for 1986. There were many after Wembley, then the last was at Knebworth. It was exhausting and Freddie didn’t think that he could continue to run around as he preferred. I also think that he suspected that he was ill, even though he wasn’t tested until 1987. Rock on! ✌️
When you get time you really need to see the entire Wembley 1986 concert. It’s absolutely amazing with some spontaneous old songs that they sing and an amazing impromptu that Freddy sings and the others join in with the instruments. It’s so amazing and energetic, something you would really enjoy. I’ve seen a few people react to it in 4 parts and they thought it was amazing too.
Wembley wasnt their last concert. The Magic Tour 1986 was their last tour with Freddie and the last gig on that tour was Knebworth in the UK in front uf 120.000 people in August 1986. Sadly this concert wasnt recorded fully on video. Your reaction of Who wants to live forvever in Budapest ws also from the last Tour in 1986. There is also an documentary available on You Tube called "A Magic Year Documentary", it tells the story from LiveAid in 1985 to the final concert at Knebworth in 1986 and is about 26 minutes long if you consider to watch it.
I’ve got another singer from the 70’s. He is a story teller & one of the best. I bet you’ve heard of few of his songs. BOB SEGER✨Turn The Page” Like a Rock” Old Time Rock & Roll” Still the Same” Night Moves”. This is a rabbit hole you need to go down. He just retired in 2018 from touring. 🤘🏼🎸🔥
Not a lot of Seger performance videos on YT from 70s and early 80s. This one is Katmandu & Travelin Man & Beautiful Loser, must be 1976. The video quality is terrible, but you get 3 of his best songs with the live energy. ruclips.net/video/NAi7_90p730/видео.html
@@Terri6868 I've found the official video for Turn the Page, which I love, even though it's from the 80s. And there's audio only, or lyrics, but I didn't see a 1970s performance. That's all I meant. Hopefully there is. And I just missed it.
Roger said the stage was so big they used a golf cart to get around. Watch the documentary Days of our Lives, Queen and it’s all explained why they used a keyboard player at their later concerts
love your reaction! I knew you would love it I don't know if you've seen this but this door was opened with the song " One Vision". One Vision live at Wembley 1986 is kick butt!! Freddie Mercury comes out on the stage looking like a freaking lion tamer. Like the video to I Want It All. DIRTY GOOD!!
Just to correct a small detail..Wembley was not their last live concert together. Apparently they sold out Wembley so fast they added a final concert in the English countryside called Knebworth which is an open air natural grass amphitheater in England holding around 120,000 people. I’ve been a Queen fan since 1973 and was fortunate enough to see the band with Freddy numerous times. I was also lucky enough to be at Knebworth for their final actual live concert together
Freddie was in pain and exhausted during this tour. This is Five years before he passed. He Was sick but didn't know he was suffering from Aids until a year later. That's why it's the last concert. 😢😢🙂❤❤❤❤
The band, Freddie in particular used to prefer wearing lighter coloured clothing....that was even people at the back could see him moving about clearly. The Magic Tour (1986) was indeed the last tour with Freddie. It played to over one million people & tickets sold out within a day...and they were all pretty big venues. After Wembley sold out twice (as well as Manchester & St James Park) they added what was to be Freddie’s last concert at Knebworth where 120,000 attended (but probably more). Quite often the band changed clothes during the set, and some outfits were then auctioned off for charity.
White to big concerts and Black or others to small crowd. But to Queen small crowd was a rarity, só almost all the clips of the shows Freddie and Brian appeared wearing white.
The lighting was a lot better during this video and it shows how well everybody playa and performs. The stage in Montreal with smaller and the lighting wasn't as good. The one at Wembley shows how excellent every player on the team as part of the band was!
On top of that, there was 5 extra years to practice, and 86 has an extra keyboard player and also Freddie's mic became wireless (no tethering cord anymore) so easier movement on this massive stage.
@@pierre241 also Freddie Mercury had done a lot of work with Mike Moran but I don't know if he did work with the band or not.. Mike Moran is a kick-ass piano player white Freddie Mercury and more of a perfectionist than Fred.😂😂😂 I'm just wondering if Mike Moran ever performed in any of their concerts in the mid-80s but I do know he work with Fred on his solo album.
@@montrelouisebohon-harris7023 Mike Moran? 🤔 Queen had 3 keyboard players, none of them was Mike Moran. They had Morgan Fisher on the european leg of the Hot Space tour, Fred Mandel on the american and japanese leg of the Hot Space tour and in the studio for The Works album and Freddie's solo album, The Bad Guy and then, since 1984 they have Spike Edney for almost everything.
yes in this concert they used a back sound for some songs where there were piano in the back side, just because Freddie knows that this was his last tour ad wantet to do more scene as possible
In the commentaries of Brian and Roger about Montreal concert in the DVD they said the company which filmed the concert put cameras every where. They didn'et like it especially Freddie. That's perhaps some of their numbers the one where normally they unleashed themselves weren't of the same equal quality in comparison of these at Wembley. And that's also the reason why we suddenly saw Freddie almost naked singing "Another one biltes the dust" because he didn't want that the days of concert at Montreal were melted.
Always amazed how he could run back and forth as well as up stairs and still sing full force. He never runs out of breath or energy. Acting up?? Funny?? Dirty?? I don't understand those comments What band dresses alike, just curious as I don't remember any once the Beatles got pasr their 1st couple of years. Not to be critical, just genuinely wondering who in the 80's had matching outfits?
Re-watching today - the editing job is killer also. Which can be said about the entire DVD in my opinion. I think I bought my original copy of this decades ago, but one of my kids nabbed it and haven't seen it since. Recently ordered a new one.
I saw Queen live a few times, starting with the Crazy Tour in London in 1979, and their live performances really kicked up a gear with The Works tour in 1984. So Live Aid in '85 and The Magic Tour at Wembley in '86 were Queen at their real peak. Check out Brian's great guitar work on Crazy Little Thing Called Love from the same show: ruclips.net/video/72P2CIZ6tNE/видео.html

HAP3SPEAKZ their music is addictive. They put their all in every song and Freddie’s voice is one of a kind. Don’t know if anyone else who has or had a 4-5 octave range! The power and emotion he puts in every song is amazing. Yes, I’m bias!
I never caught that Freddie almost sang the wrong word until you hit that replay..at 6:50.. "rain running down my ('starts to sing 'eye')....FACE" doesn't bother me a bit, just never noticed it before.
BTW If you thought Deacy's shorts & tee combo was a bit relaxed, you need to check out "Another One Bites The Dust (Live)" in Montreal (ruclips.net/video/NVIbCvfkO3E/видео.html ). Freddie is wearing a white hat, a red kerchief around his neck with a towel draped over his shoulders, a red wrist band, and a pair of white bootie shorts -- no shirt, no socks, no shoes.
Queen played at Wembley July 11 & 12,1986. Following which they had a few dates around Europe,Germany & Austria,I believe. They finished up playing their last concert at Knebworth on August 9,1986.

Thankyou for reacting to this one!!!
Thanks for taking the time to watch it. :)

I hope the opening number of this concert, One Vision, is somewhere on your list. The energy if off the charts - from the band and the audience. They were totally feeding off each other!
OHHHH from the sounds of it, their entire performance was off the charts.

Thank you Hap great reaction once again.
Freddie attitude was to make his fans happy. I think it was important to the whole band that their audience felt they got the best performance. 😍👏
WE STILL GET THEIR BEST ..even till today! I was jumping off my seat. Thank you for saying it was a great reaction once again. That`s my boost of the day. LOL

It was a good idea to do both version reacted. Both were great! I like the Wembely verson better, it was awesome! I love Freddie's energy and how he runs around the stage. Thanks!
To be honest it was not an idea! It was an accident. Lol. But happy with the way it turned out. Got to hear both back to back. 💯

Please do a reaction to Queen You Take My Breath Away (Live At Hyde Park 1976)! This is a very special performance because Freddie sung this song similarly to the studio version which is very hard!
Got your suggestion archived. Thank you for dropping a message. I'm looking forward to this song... his voice LIVE and in the Studio are not that different.
(Copyrighted HAP3SPEAKZ) ©️
@@HAP3SPEAKZ the difference is that the live version is just Freddie singing and playing by himself; no harmonies. The studio version features lush harmonies and stronger vocals from Freddie. That's why imho you should hear both.
It’s a jamming song 🔥❤️
While Brian was in hospital worried the band would replace him, Freddie made a tape of all Brian's guitar solos, and took it to him. Freddie told him there would be no Queen without him, and not to worry.❤️
Every banister around Freddie during his performance is in danger😆
Ohhh you got my joke I see!!! 😂😂💜💜

Tana Foret haha me too!
This is an amazing performance, epic, darling👑👑👑
And they were having so much fun 😁😁😁
Knebworth Park UK was Queens last live performance with Freddie in 1986. It became obvious to the concert manager Gerry Stickles that they could have sold out Wembley for a 3rd night but the venue was not available for it so they moved for one night and the final night to Knebworth. The crowd attendance of 120 k was bigger than Wembley of around 80 k but their biggest UK concert attendance was the free Hyde Park at 180 k .Cheers love the Queen reactions. So much of the catalogue of songs waiting for you to enjoy.
Thanks for clarifying Jon and welcome to the channel. Yeah the Queen songs quite epic. Their sound is crisp and musical abilities are quite astonishing. So they did 2 night's at Wembley and the 3rd night at Knebworth? Thank you for your tactful message. 👑

@@HAP3SPEAKZ yep just a shame there has never been any proper released footage of Knebworth. A few clips of the stage of radio ga ga and Arial shots of stage and crowd in the video for 'show must go on' but that's about it.

This was a tip of the hat to a band called “Moot the Hoople”, who Queen opened for for in their early days. One of the of the lines is “ down in the City just Hoople and me”
Love this version they're all outstanding, but watching John Deacon getting so into it makes me so happy.
I'm sure you've ALREADY been informed: Their last-ever live performance was actually a week later at Knebworth Park; the audience was 125,000💕
Yes and thanks for dropping the comment to confirm Marcella. 👍🏽🙂

Hey Phoebe. Nice to read your message. Hope you're well. Thanks for sharing that information. I read in the comments of my other videos that Barcelona was also one his last pieces of work.

They were home. That’s where you unleash the beast
hahah you got my joke! lol - I got a bit of an odd sense of humor, and Queen really bring that out me a lot more with their music. :) I don`t know why.

This performance of the song is more aggresief in my opinion, absolutley loved it! Thanks for the reaction!
YOU`RE RIGHT.... I think that is due to ROGER --- and also his ability to pound away that those drums. Freddie, just screams out raw energy in this one.

I was there that night, you could choose any song from the gig and it would be brilliant.
How lucky and fortunate you were to witness this at the time. Music only.

O love this song it is alot better at Wembley they change there songs at every concert your reaction i respect
I have been overwhelmed with many requests and comments. And things get mixed up. Yes this version was asked for, but nothing about times. Today after I finished recording, I dug deep down into the channel and found sombody has asked about specific date and actual time. Well, that version I guess. Is for another time. 🙂 I love "Who wants to live forever" the reaction I did. But I heard there are better versions. So again, I'm curious. Why that is. 🤔 👑💜
(Copyrighted HAP3SPEAKZ) ©️
Sounds good, I look forward to joining you when you do (over a cup of joe)

Rock on! ✌️
Yes do excuse my error. All new to this Queen stuff, but what great music they have! Really have skills to capture everyone with their music. Since each song is different.

CHOAS!!! You are a real legend! Thank you for the information. :)

HAP3SPEAKZ You are just lucky that Queen Knowledge is my one superpower besides that I am just an average guy
The video quality is terrible, but you get 3 of his best songs with the live energy.

love your reaction!
Thanks for your comment. I'm looking forward to covering the songs at Wembley in due course. 👑

There’s also the version at The Rainbow 😄
Oh came across another hidden gem, it's called "Ride the Wild Wind" Very cool song!
Is that a Queen song?

Freddie was in pain and exhausted during this tour. This is
Five years before he passed. He
Was sick but didn't know he was suffering from Aids until a year later.
Thank you Mark for your clear explanation. Yep I can get mixed with the time line, but through this process I am witnessing or hearing great progress and at times signs of greatness early on in their career. QUEEN were certainly a GREAT band. 👑💜

White to big concerts and Black or others to small crowd. But to Queen small crowd was a rarity, só almost all the clips of the shows Freddie and Brian appeared wearing white.

Knebworth was their last concert after Wembley i beliieve
The lighting was a lot better during this video and it shows how well everybody playa and performs. The stage in Montreal with smaller and the lighting wasn't as good. The one at Wembley shows how excellent every player on the team as part of the band was!
I have to agree!! So happy I did them back to back. 👑

On top of that, there was 5 extra years to practice, and 86 has an extra keyboard player and also Freddie's mic became wireless (no tethering cord anymore) so easier movement on this massive stage.
Thanks Montre and Peter for the details. Now you mention it, you're right. There is a difference in stage size and lights. Which I didn't notice before. I usually focus on the music, and then Freddie is hard to take your eyes off. I end up ignoring all those other points. Lights at this concert are far more flamboyant.

@@pierre241 also Freddie Mercury had done a lot of work with Mike Moran but I don't know if he did work with the band or not.. They had one more after Wembley their last live performance with Freddie was knebworth.
