You are the only one that I have come across that mentions the sync box has to be the last source in line to the TV to get audio to work. That was the piece that made me jump to buy. Thank you.

My 55`` lightstrip fitted perfectly, now I just can`t wait for my sync box to arrive! But even without it the backlight is just amazing. I have a whole new bedroom now))
How far from the edge did you set the holders for your 80 inch? I have a 82 inch but I don't if I should just do 10 cm from the edge or the 5 they recommend.
Great video. If I have a smaller TV, would I be able to get a bigger strip to cover the bottom? Or does it cut off at the corners. For example, if I got a 75" strip to fit my 43" tv will I be able to light up the bottom? Thanks!
So many people asking if they can fit the larger size strip to their tv, thinking it will better but, in reality, the light zones will be out of synch with the screen and/or the strips will be too close to the edge being a distraction. Connected all up and works well however every so often the screen blanks out and loses the picture and syncing. Have tried all the ports and still the same. Also wanted to know if you would know the answer to the following. I know the sync box cannot cope with a 3d signal via the sync box due to the way the signals are sent. But wonder if a video splitter that filtered out the 3d signal and fed back into the sync box would work with a direct video fed to the tv? Do you think they’ll allow you to change brightness of different lights within the entertainment area soon? I’ve got 3 play bars at the bottom, plus the gradient. But the bottom is much brighter than the side and top. What do you reckon? Love your channel. From Tom, in England.
For now, I’d recommend placing the lights higher up on the back? How low are they currently? I’d say place them around where the others in the video did.

My Hue Gradient is reachable and added to Hue alp but it won't turn on at all. Not even normal light nlelt alone synced with Hue Sync. Do you thing the actual light is busted?
Hey. So the iConnectHue app on ios can allow you to change individual areas of colours on the strip as it would if watching a film with the sync box? I have bought the app but and am fiddling with the 'discotainment' feature but can't get it to make the light sections to be individually coloured on the strip. Could you possibly walk me through how you did it in the video at 5:59
Thanks for the great review, love it! I have a question: is it possible to use the 75" strip on a 65" TV? My concern is that, 75" strip will overhang the two sides of 65" TV, which will cause the color mismatch or not line up with the TV. I want 75" simply because I may upgrade my TV in the near future. Thank you.
I order from a tech company in Australia which ships here to the states. You can find them on eBay but they want $430. I bought for $300 with shipping.

Justin ...... So i can use this Ambilight set for my non Ambilight SAMSUNG Q950T TV yes? The main problem with this set is you have to sacrifice one of my 4x HDMI Terminals (all 4 already taken) yes? If the answer in both cases is a yes then i must find a solution to get my extre one more HDMI port for this set + don't even think about the 6th HDMI Terminal for SONY PST 5 (6 HDMI in total)
The light doesn’t need an hdmi port, the hue sync box does, but the sync box has 4 ports on it, so you’d have more than before. Or just as much if you decide to plug everything into it
Thanks for the video, been looking into this for my setup. Hoping they release a new hdmi sync box next year with 2 hdmi 2.1 slots I want to use it with the next gen consoles without sacrificing gameplay.
Hi I’ve been getting the Philips hue play bars and each of those makes a high pitching sounds. I was just wondering if the gradient lightstrip makes high pitch sounds as well?
It was also interesting how to implement full backlighting from four sides. But you have not considered the option of using two gradient lightstrips. If one lightstrip can cover only three sides, then maybe you can take the smallest one and use two of them and then they will be enough for all four sides of the TV. Is it possible? Will it work correctly in screen capture mode? (I have 65" LG OLED TV)
I have a Vizio M Series 70" and I'm wondering should I go for the 65" or the 75"? I'm worried that in order to get the 65" to work correctly I will have it inset too far, but I'm assuming the 45 degree angle will help? Also, the 75" is out of stock. What to do?
@@Justin_tech It's 13" from the wall. I was just worried about it being long enough on the sides but from the videos it doesn't seem like it would make a big difference. It's table mounted so I'm no concerned with bottom light. Maybe down the road.
Have you seen where the lights are no longer searchable in the Philips Hue app? Even new lights have to be added with the serial number. how do you sync the hue play bar in the entertainement area? since you can‘t ‚place‘ the hue play on the bottom.. are you just placing it on the side of the tv in the app and placing it phisically on the bottom?
you can place lights at 3 different levels (ceiling, floor, tv height) and anywhere on the screen with entertainment areas on the Hue app. I show it off in my Hue Sync Box review.

Do you think the 55" would work ok with the new 49" CX? How would the setup on the back work if the hue strip is too long? How does it know where the corners are
Very well could fit - there's wiggle room to adjust the lengths. The corners are baked into the device, it doesn't track where it is on the tv, but if it's installed evenly, it should look just fine.
Hello Justin, i have a 75" tv but there isn't available. I asked Philips and basically they don't have a date to restock, so if i get a 65" lightstrip can it fit? Thank you!
Justin, I have a question about the Phillips HUE gradient lights for behind a TV. My living room is situated in such a way that when you enter the room I see a side view of my TV. I’m worried that the side view of the HUE light strip will be visually unattractive and detract from the ambience of the room since everyone will see that view when entering the room. You know, kind of like seeing behind the scenes at Disneyland. What do you think? I don’t have an example to go look at.
Hey, they haven’t had the 75” lightstrip restocked at all. I saw in this video that you used the 75” lightstrip on an 85” tv; do you think it’s possible to do the same with a 75” tv and 65” lightstrip?
Great video, though, I find on my 65” lg b8, the closer the tv is the wall, the easier it makes it to distinguish between colors when it’s running. I’m surprised you think it looks better the farther away from the wall (up to a certain distance of course).
@@Justin_tech agreed. I actually tried it out again a bit farther away from the wall and it looks better! Also, thanks for the iConnect tip. It’s really cool that it uses the gradient light as separate zones. Think give me hope a firmware update will come which will allow us to controls each zone through the hue app (fingers crossed). Keep up the great content!
Too bad they don't have the best specs in the TV otherwise I would have bought an Philip's too. Since TP vision took over they didn't make the best TVs anymore.
@@Justin_tech Thanks Justin I appreciate that hopefully I might make the giveaway you may have already done it but sure but anyway thanks again for your time happy holidays
I have a question, would it be better to point the play lights down on the back of the tv? I could try myself but thought to ask as I am sure someone tried it 😄
It really depends on your setup and what looks best. It’s definitely easier to attach them aiming at the wall using the included mounts. I feel like it may look better facing the wall because it will diffuse the light better. Just make sure to test out the height before attaching. You don’t want them to outside the gradient strip, so they may need to go higher than expected.

It needs the bridge to work. It needs the sync box to sync with content on the tv unless you use the Hue Sync app on Windows/Mac - you should watch my review of the gradient strip for more info! ----> ruclips.net/video/wONayxL4xTY/видео.html
I just ordered a new 55” 4K UHD TV. It’s back ordered... I’m hoping I can get the light strip and sync box by the end of the year.
Could you possibly walk me through how you did it in the video at 5:59
You can't choose which colors they are, it will do it automatically with different settings. Am I answering your question correctly?
@@Justin_tech I have a new 70” LG tv that’s 69” across diagonally, does that mean with your measurements 75” strip would be best?
Thanks for the great review, love it! I have a question: is it possible to use the 75" strip on a 65" TV? My concern is that, 75" strip will overhang the two sides of 65" TV, which will cause the color mismatch or not line up with the TV. I want 75" simply because I may upgrade my TV in the near future. Thank you.
As long as it fits the measurements I think you will be fine. The 65" wont look bad on a 75" TV either, so I think both could work for you.
I am impatiently still waiting for the 75" strip to be available 😭
I KNOWWWW
I order from a tech company in Australia which ships here to the states. You can find them on eBay but they want $430. I bought for $300 with shipping.

Hi, is there a way to make my gradient hue light from my back of the TV, do the rainbow effect? Just when you install those lights, they do a rainbow effect, but after that , there is no way to do the effect, you know gradient striplight has like 7-8 sections of lights, which turn on indepentedly, how can i do the rainbow effect with another app?
Hello I'm new to the Philips products and i was wondering if I needed the hue box to make this work? . I'm really interested in this might strip .
In order to sync with the content on your TV, yes you need the sync box OR you can use the Hue Sync app on Mac/PC - watch my Gradient strip review vid! ruclips.net/video/wONayxL4xTY/видео.html
can i use a philips hue play bar on my laptop for gaming? i want to sync the lights to whats on my screen and im not sure if i should get the play bar, or the led strips, and overall i want to make sure it will work on my laptop! SOS
Yes you can. Use the Hue Sync app on Mac/PC and it will sync the lights with your computer. You do need a Hue Bridge for this.
@@Justin_tech Thank you so much for your reply! noted i appreciate you actually responding
Or just as much if you decide to plug everything into it
What would be most interesting is how users are locating the hue plays in the entertainment area on the app... great videos! Keep the excellent work!
I'll have to explain in another video.
Thanks for the video, been looking into this for my setup. Hoping they release a new hdmi sync box next year with 2 hdmi 2.1 slots I want to use it with the next gen consoles without sacrificing gameplay.
I hope so too!!
Can I use the 55" strip and put it around my 27" iMac?
Hi I’ve been getting the Philips hue play bars and each of those makes a high pitching sounds. I was just wondering if the gradient lightstrip makes high pitch sounds as well?
PLEASE KEEP DOING THESE VIDEOs! ❤️
I will! :) what do you want to see more of?
What to do?
I think the 65" would work just fine. How far from the wall is it?
@@Justin_tech It's 13" from the wall. I was just worried about it being long enough on the sides but from the videos it doesn't seem like it would make a big difference. It's table mounted so I'm no concerned with bottom light. Maybe down the road.
Cant seem to find this app on the google play store. Is there anything else I could use to change different sections of colour.
Have you seen where the lights are no longer searchable in the Philips Hue app? Even new lights have to be added with the serial number. I even tried a new Hub and I got the same results. - Any suggestions? It started when I added the Philips TV light- after a few steps, I lost every light in my home. I had to remove every bulb and get the serial number, then rebuild every room. - So fustrating! I recently added a new Playbar and again - had to use the serial number. Any help would be greatly appriciated. - Martin
woah...I advent hear of this. Did you contact support? that's crazy!!
Just have a question I'have an 70 inch tv , should I go for the 65 strip or the 75 strip ?
Me too. Did you ever figure it out?
how do you sync the hue play bar in the entertainement area? since you can‘t ‚place‘ the hue play on the bottom.. are you just placing it on the side of the tv in the app and placing it phisically on the bottom?
you can place lights at 3 different levels (ceiling, floor, tv height) and anywhere on the screen with entertainment areas on the Hue app. I show it off in my Hue Sync Box review.
@@Justin_tech i understand, but how do you set it up in the entertainment room? because you can‘t set up the light bar at the bottom.. did you just set up the play bar on the side of the tv? so it displays the cover that is shown on the side? eventough the play bar is on the bottom?
Great video. I am thinking about getting (during Black Friday if there is such a thing for Hue) a Hue Sync Box orrrrr a Hue Light Strip for the back of my LG Oeld 65 in. I have 25 lights in my house now including the Play bars... seeing other people sets was great to see.
Justin please ask Philips why the gradient strip is not available in Italy! I tried to contact the customer care and they told me: “we respond for broken products not for commercial questions”! 😔 On Amazon the 55” (as the other 2) is always indicated as “currently not available” and there are no physical retailers selling these products! 😢 Thank you so much in advance and congrats for your videos! ☺️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I'll ask!
@@Justin_tech thank you so much! 🤩🥳 You’re the best! 😎
Were the... Do i get 1 from!?
Just to clear things out. If I want the gradient lightstrip to synchronize with whats happening on the TV I also have to buy the hdmi sync box. That means I have to pay an extra 200 dollars to make it work? Am I right?
Yes, unless you use the Hue Sync app on a Mac/PC and connect that to your TV
What is the tv at 2.37? PQ looks awesome
What would you suggest with using the 55” strip on a smaller tv? I have a 43” Tv. Would it just wrap further around?
It may be possible to finagle it so it curves in a bit on the bottom.
he Justin ... just discovered your video's ... love your professionalism ... love your personality ... and I will order the Hue Gradient with the extra's and the Iris white
Thank you!! :)
@@Justin_tech oh, I follow several you tubers, you are the first to be so yourself, I love you even more for it ... I have another coming out do ... a long time ago, people accused me of having a Philips addiction ... can you imagine ... :-)) ... that healed ... being gay did not heal ;-)
For a 75" could you use two gradient light strips one for the top and one for the bottom
Unfortunately, no.
whats the best setting for moives
i have the lightstrip 'hue bridge and sync box. with all these movies releasing on hbo max im like heck yeah
Yassssss I love to hear it. It depends on the movie and your preference. For light viewing I like to have it on the lowest setting and mid brightness. For fun action-packed or colorful TV (like Ru Pauls Drag Race) I go level 3 or 4 and mid to full brightness 🌞
Thank you!
Yes the 65 inch will look just fine compared to the 75 inch on our 85 inch at TV
Does the box already support hdr10+ and dolby atmos?
Yes
would it be possible to use the 75” strip and have it fully wrap around a 55” tv to cover all sides?
No you can’t wrap it around the bottom. It won’t sync properly.
The gradient strip is so well made and looks fantastic installed. I think you’d be happy with it. It looks very well done.
@@Justin_tech Thanks very much for your reply. I’ll try to send you a pic when it’s all done.
What's your sound setup?
Curious if your light bill is higher than usual with this extra feature....
I haven’t noticed an increase at all. LED lighting requires very little power
Hey, they haven’t had the 75” lightstrip restocked at all. I saw in this video that you used the 75” lightstrip on an 85” tv; do you think it’s possible to do the same with a 75” tv and 65” lightstrip?
Absolutely possible. Looked just fine for us...
Great video, though, I find on my 65” lg b8, the closer the tv is the wall, the easier it makes it to distinguish between colors when it’s running. I’m surprised you think it looks better the farther away from the wall (up to a certain distance of course).
It's all dependent on your setup. I think everyone should do what is best for their setup. Just wanted to show options! :)
Hy, please tell me wich app is for have a Light just a disco... Tx
Try out iConnectHue!
I am so glad I have a Philips tv with the build-in lights called ambilight 🙂
I am looking to buy a Phillips ambilight tv which model do you have is it a good quality picture in it’s own right?
Too bad they don't have the best specs in the TV otherwise I would have bought an Philip's too. Since TP vision took over they didn't make the best TVs anymore.
Yeah good luck on getting it on a decent tv lol.
I have a 60” tv so you think I can get away with just the light strip and no bars at the bottom?
If the TV is hanging on the wall, you may want something on the bottom...if it's on a TV stand - no need in my opinion.
Love the TV wall how did you do that with a geometric shapes?
Our friend did it using painters tape and painting multiple layers of paint. He just painted another room, il have to show it off in a video
@@Justin_tech Thanks Justin I appreciate that hopefully I might make the giveaway you may have already done it but sure but anyway thanks again for your time happy holidays
Just hooked up my light strip but the colors are showing up backwards any tips ?
Maybe it was placed in the brackets backwards? They should be shining at a 40 degree angle upward.
The music mode on tge Hue Sync app us still number 1.
Is there anyways to put a 75inch gradien strip on a 55 LG Oled 55B8 ? Maybe with the down part of the screen ? It will be nice !
You cannot do this unfortunately...
@@Justin_tech They know how to sell stuff :D I was planing to buy the 65 or 75 to put on my 55 to be futur proof if i upgrade the tv. Are you saying in the vids that 65 inch fit for a 55inch display ?
It’s possible! I’ve seen people curve the bottom of each side
Thanks so much! I’ve been trying to figure out what to do for TV back lighting because I want something interactive!
This is surely interactive! Haha
I did a lightship plus at the bottom. I got them for like 30 bucks on eBay. Since you can cut the lightship plus it came out great.
Nice!!
I must know where you got those light strip mounts for the back of the tv!
They come with the gradient light strip!
Doing my best Paul Hibbert impression "Corporate Greed! Corporate Greed! Corporate Greed! ". I have a whole house full of Hue lights, this is over the top expensive for some rgb lights.
😂😂😂😂 I could hear his voice!
Can we see serial movie of setup box with hue Phillips?
Let me start off by saying that I personally think you should have more solo dance parties in more of your videos. 😘 Seriously though, thank you for the helpful measurement information as well as the user videos; it never occurred to me to attach the bars to the bottom of our TV!!! Thanks again and have a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
More solo dance parties to come! hahaha Thanks :)
Can I use gradient lightstrip as a simple smart light controlled by mobile app without hue bridge and hdmi box?
You can use it as a simple light without the sync box but I believe you will still need a bridge. There is no Bluetooth support
How do you make the lights sync with what is on the tv? Like the videos you showed of other peoples set ups?
You need the HDMI sync box. Watch my gradient strip review and HDMI Sync Box Review! :)
@@Justin_tech I can’t find the gradient strips any where online. Besides for $400 and up!! Did they stop making them or have they not restocked since release?
So should I actually get the 65 inch for my 55 inch tv based on your math
The 55" should be just fine.
Thanks for the tips! Now I just need to find one.

Hey Justin, do you know why the music sync mode doesn't work on hdmi hue sync? I must been doing it wrong? SOS! 😅😆
