  • Dave Feldman is a citizen scientist and founder of Citizen Science Foundation. In this interview, he sits down with us to discuss the success of the 2024 Collaborative Science (CoSci) Conference and how one community is helping make research better.
    All proceeds from this year’s CoSci Conference are being used to help fund further research for lean mass hyper-responders. This year’s events included presentations from medical experts, researchers and individuals with their own citizen scientist journeys. The conference was a groundbreaking gathering that highlighted the spirit of scientific discovery.

    Doubt there is much more important than having an answer to this question as we try to implement ketogenic diet more broadly for the treatment and management of disease.
    Either there is no increased risk and we can put that worry to bed, or we can consider ldl lowering therapies in addition to ketosis if we see an ldl rise

    I predict that Mr Feldman will do for our understanding of lipids what Steve Jobs did for the mobile phone! Surprisingly perhaps, I am unsurprised that he managed to get the funding for his study. For those people doing Low Carb, we know that it works. Whether it’s reversal of IBS, T2D, Bipolar or whatever, there are just so many people who through their individual experience know that it works and, perhaps more helpfully, their doctors actually listened to them and said ‘perhaps there’s something in this low carb’ and go on to recommend it to other patients. Then both the patients and the doctors get sick and tired of listening to the ‘mainstream’ trying to tell us it will kill us. If the safest option is to take lots of medication, then why don’t they try to prove it? Let them demonstrate that numerous glucose lowering medications, statins and blood pressure medication gives a better outcome than simply not eating too many carbs! So, when presented with a measured, intelligent individual like Dave says ‘let’s study this for ourselves since nobody else gives a damn’, then the ‘community’ will put their money where their mouth is! Awaiting the second tranche of results with impatience!

    hello sir, how is somebody supposed to maintain under 20g of carbohydrates without going overboard on protein & vegetable consumption and subsequently being knocked out of therapeutic ketosis? What would a typical meal look like in a day?

    • @metabolicmind
      @metabolicmind  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for your comment. 20g of carbs is a good starting point, but one of the great things about ketosis is that people can measure their ketone levels and tailor their diets to what they enjoy eating and keeps them in ketosis. For some people, that can be significantly more than 20g of carbs. Here's an educational guide that may helo you with what foods and meals would look like www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto/foods

      @@metabolicmindis there any way to accurately measure my ketones without drawing blood?

      @@Mijn3023 They can also be measured using a ketone breath meter or ketone urine strips, but ketone blood meters are the most accurate way to measure your ketones.
