This video begins with a view of Takeshita Street, seen from the Yamanote Line platforms at the North end of Harajuku Station. Passengers de-boarding and boarding the Yamanote Line Trains. The Yamanote Line is Tokyo's major loop line that connects all of the commercial centers. Finally some views of people passing through the station fair-gates.

205系も懐かしいし、発車メロディも古い。乗客も当然ICカード使う人は居ない。スマホやケータイいじってないし、マスクもしてない。

Yea this was July 1998. I have seen videos of the new equipment, but didn't notice the different music. I'll have to check that out.:)

Well, to be more specific, the "Doors Closing" announcement is different. The 6-door car has already added. For the 205's the conductor in the back announces the next stations inside the train, Japanese only, obviously. For E231-500, the announcements are automated, in both Japanese and English.If you search Yamanote on youtube, there is a footage of Yamanote Line in 1989, right after the old 103 trains phase out from the Yamanote Line. At that time, the 6-door car was not added yet.

6 door cars were added by 1990-1994. they officially introduced 6 door carriages by 1993, about all yamanote line trainsets were added by one carriage

This footage should be around the late 90's, because the departure melody is different from what is used from right now. Plus E231-500 series haven't debut on the Yamanote Line yet.
