The only keeper that I consider better than Kahn is Lev Yashin. It's too bad they're from different times, would've loved to see them both on the pitch in a big tournament.

Growing up during Kahn's prime I was a goalie. He was by far my favorite. The fearlessness he had combined with his skills and athleticism was incredible.

This is a message to people who think that Buffon is better than Khan:
Buffon is no where close to Khan. Buffon had a formidable defensive line back in 2006. Khan had a sloppy defensive line. Look at who was a head of Buffon, Cannavaro, Nesta, zambrotta and Grosso! Khan: Metzelder, Rameleaov and Linke ! In addition to the defensive play style of Italy. Khan is the only goalkeeper in history to win the golden ball! Buffon is a great goalkeeper, don't get me wrong, but he is no where close to Khan. As matter of fact, I believe that Dino Zoff and Toldo are much better than him, especially Toldo. You should have seen that fella. Statistics and rankings in the world of football means nothing. If you have been watching football in the last 25 years, you would know what I am talking about.
An example would be the comparisson between Maradonna and pele. Even though Pele is ranked first as the best football player in history, the majority of people still believe that Maradonna is the greatest player to ever step foot on God's green earth.
One more advice don't believe everything you read. Khan carried a frail Germany team to the world cup final in 2002.
Anyways, the best goalkeeper in history is Lev yashin, then comes Khan, schmeichel and buffon.
I will give you a name of a goalkeeper who had a lightining fast reflexes and was arguably the best keeper in the world at his time. His name is sepp maier. You probably never heard of him before. I believe that buffon was over inflated by the media and by the FIFA organization. . This is just an example to show the ambiguity in the ranking system.
you are wrong in one thing.... Maradona isnt better than Pelé... Romário was more complete than Maradona.... Zidane was more complete, and a lot of great players... All of his 20 best goals was scored with the left leg (and one with the left hand) Pelé, Romário, Zidane, Messi, CR7, Neymar always shot with the two legs.... for me Maradona is like Lehman and other great keepers, but not the Best...

I respect your opinion, however you can't compare Zidane to Mardonna and Pele..He plays in an entirely different position, as a play maker. I don't think that Mardonna is better than Pele, but many people belive so, due to the fact that Many of them didn't watch Pele play, also due to Maradonn's contributions in the 1986 world cup. For Pele, we know that he had won the world cup at the age of 17. That's outstanding. Zidane is on the list of top 5 greatest players in the history. Well Lev Yashin will always be on top, then comes Kahn and Schmeichel. Buffon has been over inflated by the media. Same with Casillas. None of them can hold a candle to the great Kahn.. Kahn carried a distraught German team to the final by making some unbelivable saves. In the final though he hurt his hand. That's why he didn't perform well. Neuer is no his way to be the greatest goalkeeper in history, he is like a Libero+ goalkeeper.
How can you even say Buffon and Casillas can't hold a candle to the great Kahn? Was Kahn a God or something? He only had a few good seasons. You must be German. The only thing you are right about is that Lev Yashin is the best goalkeeper ever.

Kahn is the second best goalkeeper in the history of football. He won the golden ball.Kahn carried an indigent German team to 2002 final. Now who can do that?
Kahn had a sloppy defence. Look at the defenders who were ahead of Buffon. Players like Cannavaro ( who won the ballon d'or) Nesta, Maldini, Grosso, Zambrotta. In addition to Italy's defensive playstyle. Germany had a disastrous defense and midfield. That 2002 team would have gotten beaten by korea and USA if it wasn't for Kahn. That's why he won the golden ball award ( The only keeper to win it).
Buffon is a great keeper, but he has been over inflated by the media. Kahn had an astonsihing charisma and influence on his team. He made some unbelievable saves to lead his team to the final.
Yashin comes first, then Khan, schmeichel, buffon. That's the most logical and unbiased order.

Für mich der beste Sportler aller Zeiten. Gewisse Momente erfordern den unbedingten Willen, um die volle Leistungsfähigkeit des Körpers abverlangen zu können. Kahn hat das wie kein zweiter verinnerlicht.
Alleine die Parade bei Minute 5 ist geradezu übermenschlich. Kahn konnte immer Gänsehaut bei mir erzeugen, was heutzutage kein Sportler schafft. Wer ihn kritisiert, insbesondere seine sportliche Leistung, macht sich was vor wie Brillenträger.

I remember back in 90s whenever he lets the goal in, he would either rage at the referee or at his team for not properly defending.
I also remember one time he would rage at his attacker for not scoring properly and it was their fault for costing him the game, blah blah LOL
