Important rule of D&D: It's not the only RPG out there! There's many many others, both like it and utterly alien, so if you're not jiving with the system or want some variety do experiment. Maybe you're looking for more deep tactical combat and more customizable characters, in which case you should check out Pathfinder, or other D&D offshoot systems. Maybe you're looking for a less narrative and character focused journey and want something a bit closer to a nice Diablo style dungeon crawl in which case older editions and the OSR... Genre? Are where you should look. Maybe you want _more_ narrative and don't care for the crunchy modifier stacking and spell slots and action economy and whatnot, in which case there's truly countless systems to look into like Kids on Bikes or the Mouse Guard RPG (my first RPG :3)

🌟 This video is an absolute treasure trove for anyone curious about Dungeons and Dragons! 🐉 Whether you're a total newbie wondering what D&D even is, a veteran trying to simplify the game for new players, or just someone (hi, Mom! 👋) who loves a good mix of humor and information, this guide is everything you need to get started.
I love how it breaks down the seemingly complex world of D&D into such relatable and digestible steps. From understanding the role of the Dungeon Master (your friendly world-building tour guide) to grasping the essence of character creation (where even a barbarian can rock frosted tips 😂), this video takes the intimidation out of the rulebooks and turns it into pure excitement.
The humor is on point, and the explanations make even the "math-y" parts of the game feel approachable. The inclusion of mini dice cups and the excitement over getting a mimic cup? Pure joy! 🎲❤ It’s also a fantastic reminder that D&D is about creativity, teamwork, and most importantly, fun.
For anyone hesitant to dive in, this video is a great first step into a world of adventure, laughter, and unforgettable stories. You don’t have to be a “Queen of the Moon” to feel like royalty in your own fantasy. 🌕✨ Now, excuse me while I go find some fellow nerds and roll some dice! 🎲🙌
P.S. Babs the Destroyer is an icon. More barbarian content, please! 💪🔥

    As a math major, I thought that the image at 3:18 was just pure gibberish, but then I saw that it was * t h e g o d o f m a t h e m a t i c s h i m s e l f * and now I understand it's a tribute. I'll have to recite every theorem I know as penance tonight.

This is very nice to have to show people to get a general baseline idea of what it is, how it works and what to expect. Bookmarked it and prob will share the video a lot.
A perfect starter to give someone before talking through them with DnD beyond or whatever else so the sheet gets filled on its own and they just gotta pick and chose with a rough idea of what things mean

Which reminds me (9:24) of a campaign where we would regularly start bar fights using ventriloquism ("Your mother stinks like an Orc") and then try to cross to the bar, order beer and get the beer unspilled back to the party (dex check). Great fun!

This was one of your best videos ever! Love that you went back to basics.
I'm hoping you are planning to continue on that route, as I have a request. I've watched probably 5,000 videos on DnD over the years, and I realized I've never seen a channel do real examples of combat. It's pretty crazy, but I actually looked and can't find much. I would love if you could do a series of videos - one for each class - where you set up a couple minis and play out a real 2-on-2 fight to show examples of combat.
Like a Monk video where the Monk and some other random party member fight 2 goons, and you can go through actual turns for each character, but specifically zero in on the Monk's abilities. That way, we can get to know Flurry of Blows, Step of the Wind, healing abilities, wall walking, etc. Then a video for Paladins, so we can see how smites work. And a video for Druids with examples of wildshaping. And so on and so forth. Just little 10-15 minute fights that show off what each class can do.
Anyway, just an idea that I think you'd totally crush. Keep kicking ass, and I'll keep watching and enjoying!

I especially like that you made a lot of small examples, because I often find that it can be tough for people to imagine what a game looks like, if they don't watch actual plays and showing them some of these - often monstrous long videos - can be so daunting to folks.

I am even weirder than most D&D nerds. I bought the rule book and studied it for weeks, even planned out campaigns but then never actually played because none of my friends wanted to play and the internet wasn't a thing back then. 30 years later I see this video and love your introduction to D&D.
