I really liked how the fans embraced Klay with cheers and whatnot. You can see that it took the edge off of Klay and he was playing great, hit some big shots against the dubs. TJD looked great in the start of the 2nd half, Draymond had amazing defense, Looney had 9 offensive boards 😂 and ofcourse, the Chef was cooking to bring us an incredible game.

That is literally the best take I've heard from a GS fan. No hypebole, and giving credit to both teams (at least to Klay). I wish he had a better 1st quarter, but at least he finished strong. He even made 1 more 3 than Curry. Still, all credit to Steph. Not my favorite player, but he was passing the ball better than I've seen in a long time, played hard on defense, and put up 37 on efficient shooting (including being on fire when it mattered at the end).

I disagree with your comment about needed the second star for 20 points. They have three players that can do that on any night. Heild, Wiggs, Kuminga. Melton can give you 15 consistently. I think this is the way forward for the NBA with the aprons. You don't need three superstars, and even two. Deep teams go far, and I know it's early, but look how many injuries there are already with stars and key players. Next man up is real. Playing fast and hard is a winning formula and Dubs are deep in that regard. Also, people are always saying we need another big. Perhaps, but we are leading in rebounds and Loon tune is a boss!

And Klay and wigs were the ones slumping and disappearing. Steph had zero help. This year wigs is back and there are no more rookies in the starting lineup. Hi Jason, love your stuff! One pronunciation nitpick: it’s Brandin “Po-JEM-ski.” Just a normal English J sound, not the complicated “dz” sound that comes out you say it. Just think, “he’s a GEM of a player” (even if off to a slow start this season…)

They actually passed Klay decent passes last night. I’m a Mavs fan but I live in the Bay Area and love the Warriors as well. But I’ve been following the Mavs since the late 80’s. Luka and Kyrie rarely pass the ball the Klay. It’s like they are told to get him involved after the half. Even the role players look him off. He typically gets passed grenades and it’s been killing his average. They used him last night though. They did for the first game of the season as well.

Mailbag question: You mentioned how the Warriors seem to have the speed everywhere. How much of that do you attribute to Steph’s skill set? It seems to me that while players like Luka and Jokic are great offensive engines they still need certain types of players around them to have a great team offense while Curry by your own admission seems to have the least offensive help of any other star offensive engine yet as of tonight the Warriors are 3rd in offensive rating. Just wanted your thoughts on that. Thanks.

Knicks offense has been humming, they are 4th in the league in offensive rating however they are 19th in defensive rating. They desperately need Precious Achiuwa and Mitchell Robinson back. But so far I’m pleased with the offense and that’s with Brunson not even playing up to his abilities and Knicks still working out their cohesion.

Right now, if the season ended, COTY would be between Kerr or Kenny Atkinson. I would say Kerr, becuz of the Warriors playing in a STACKED Western Conference. I mean, the T-Wolves would be a 3rd seed in the East, and they're 9th in the West. I like Atkinson, though. He was a good assistant coach with the Warriors and helped the GS win a Finals in 2022, but still.. I gotta go Kerr right now.

With Mavs its crazy to me that Luka is saying he isnt getting the ball enough and hes playing off ball. When the real issue is that he is shooting way to much. They need him to play like a point guard and make sure Klay and Kyrie get enough shots. Luka also needs to decide if he wants to be the main 4th q option or its kyrie. If Luka wants to be the primary option in the 4th he has to save his shots for end game. Yesterday he shot 20 times before the 4th started. This is directly why the Mavs are losing because these games shouldnt even be going to a game winner. But what is happening is that Luka shoots all game its a up and down battle Kyrie goes for the kill and luka has emptied the clip. If they have spread the shot attempts went to kyrie in the 3rd game is over most of these games.

Mailbag: It's been all rainbows and sunshine with the Warriors on this winning streak, but what's been overlooked with them successfully closing out games has been their free-throw issues.
Steph and company have come up clutch recently, but a lot of these games shouldn't even been this close because the Warriors are ranked dead last in FT% ..... what do you think is causing this team-wide issue and how do they deal with this as a group?
The margin for error will be even slimmer as the season moves on and we get into the playoffs, and any games they let slip away from missed free-throws could have a huge impact on their place in the standings, especially out West.
    Thanks Jason!

Warriors have aggregate speed and aggregate size on defense with two 6'9" rotation players who are very fast (slomo, TJD) and Dray who plays big and fast On D, which doesn't completely make up for not having 6'11" and 7'ers, but combined with their overall team speed, quickness, and depth, it eventually exposes some big players' lack of speed/ endurance and wears down the ones who have speed.
The reason Steph was pulling Lively on pick and roll even though he could already take Luka, was to force him to defend/ gas a little, take bigs away from the rim, AND to get a free open three over him.
They run pick and roll with Steph, even when he can already beat his guy, I. Order to pull bigs away from rim, potentially force a defensive mistake that will lead to a Dunk or layup, and make that big crouch, shuffle their feet. Hard to do that over and over and run sprints to the other end.
It's so impressive that the Warriors recognized their serious lack of speed and young legs last couple years (I remember thinking about it against Sac and OKC, and how old Klay and Even Steph looked at times, a step slow on D) and went out and got MORE speed and young legs than everybody else, while sticking with their "everybody needs to be high IQ" standards, and only slightly dumbing down their motion offense, which allows all 13 of them to be on same page, AND has dramatically reduced turnovers (despite playing at higher pace than last year). GM and coach have been amazing.

My feeling is that the olympics is to small a stage to move someone on the all time list plus the us always has a super stacked team , and don’t get me wrong lebron definitely has a case but moving him after the Olympics seems very reactionary and you kinda did it cuz his your favourite player. Keep up the great work

This was a quality win over a quality opponent. Not because of Klay's return but, because this was a back and forth game that was never really out of either's teams hand to win. Warriors still need a trade during the season for a big. I would pass on Giannis. He can get his own shots but, his contract would gut the Warriors youth and I think his IQ wouldn't match the scheme. A Hawks trade for Clint Capela and Larry Nance Jr. would be more feasible and cost efficient because Atlanta is has no direction and not as shrewd a front office as Utah and Toronto. GS has a ton of guards to spare and draft capital. GP2 or Moody, Waters, Loon and draft picks.

MAIL BAG: I know Jason isn’t worried about Luka. But Luka is clearly losing his most valuable part of his game, his decision making. That’s two straight games, against contenders. Against teams you will be competing with late into the year in the standings. Where he just CHUCKED up some bullshit at the end of the game because of his ego. He’s missing 30 feet step back jumpers by 5 feet. Luka has never been a good shooter. I don’t care how many steps back 3s he makes. Dude doesn’t prioritize his body or conditioning in the summer, clearly. & does anyone really believe Luka is putting up 300+ jumpers a day? At any point of the year? Do we believe he’s fine tuning his shooting mechanics? The guy can’t shoot a f*cking stand still jumper & he misses damn near one out of every 3 free throws. The only shot he’s able to hit is the step back because it’s not about reps or mechanics as much as it’s about balance before the jumper even leaves your hand. Then ur legs can comfortably do most of the work from there. But when his forms tested (Free throws/catch&shoots) it’s a guessing game for him. His misses are usually well off target & no two misses are ever the same.
Not necessarily a question. But I just don’t think u can chalk Lukas efficiency struggles up to shooting variance or just trying to find a better shot diet ex:Tatum&Shai) He’s close to Wemby then Luka in that aspect imo. Two dominate interior players.. but they’d rather throw away 4-5 possessions a game, somehow convincing themselves they are above average jumper shooters.

But I would be surprised to know if anyone scores a perfect 12 points without a miss, with 2 threes, in the last 3 min. this season. Still, Jokic, who plays with a lot of co-stars, keeps getting high on the MVP list or getting the trophy itself. They keep changing the goal post to snub Steph. This is how the MVP loses its value. I mean, they even came up with the clutchiest player trophy and gave it to Steph, but no MVP. It's a joke.
I wouldn't find strange if it happened here or there, but it's all the time. Even in the Olympics, the biggest responsible for the gold, STEPH, had to be snubbed. They find a way to take the MVP away from him even in the Olympics... Absolutely pathetic.
